Worse customer service in the entire universe

I am writing to express my absolute outrage and deep distress regarding the service I have received over the past two months. This is not just a billing dispute; the persistent errors by your staff and systems are now actively harming my child’s education and my financial stability.

January 24, 2024: I inquired about a contract settlement for my router at a walk-in center. I explicitly told the manager I could not afford the R1,730 at that time and did not authorize a cancellation.

February 5, 2024: While I was in the Eastern Cape, my contract was cancelled without consent, and I was billed R1,800.

Router Transport & Cape Town Visit: I had to personally arrange and pay for the transport of my router from the Eastern Cape back to Cape Town to resolve this at a contact center. Despite being told "everything would be fine," the center's systems have been down for over a week.

Current Status: Every time I seek an update, I am told the "system is down." I have settled the account with money I could not spare, and yet I still have no service.

Because your system is down and my account is in disarray, I have no data. My child is currently unable to do their homework at home. I am being forced to ask neighbors for help or pay for expensive mobile data just so my child does not fall behind in school. This is a humiliating and unnecessary position to be in because of MultiChoice’s internal failures.

I no longer have the patience for "system errors." I require the following within 24 hours:

Immediate Refund/Balance Correction: I want my balance cleared and the credit I paid returned or applied so I can actually use the service.

Activation of 400GB Plan: If you cannot activate the promised 400GB plan immediately, I demand a full refund of my settlement so I can move to a provider that actually functions.

Compensation for Transport and Data: I have incurred extra costs transporting the router and buying emergency data because of your unauthorized cancellation. I expect these costs to be credited to my account.

If this is not resolved immediately, I will be taking this matter to ICASA, Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) and the National Consumer Commission, as you are currently depriving me of a service I have paid for.

I expect a phone call from a senior manager who has the authority to fix this manually if your "system" is still down.

Pathetic Dstv Internet Services

Pathetic services, been complaining a year now of slow interrupted internet,the rooter is more off then on, and when it does come on, it's eating the data like cookies, resulting in me having to.top up again and again. Also it's just me using the internet, that is my phone only, don't stream or whatnot, but they can't tell.me where my data went to

Kaemo DSTV WHATSAPP AGEMNT

I was chatting to an agent by the name of Keamo before we started the conversation via whatsapp I wrote what the issue was, he then asked me over 10 security questions. Once I pasted all the questions he constantly asked me if i want to update my account details. I told him I just want to fix my dstv stream app, as I only see 4 channels. After 30 minutes of chatting about my email he said I will look into it, then posted a fraud security message. I told him After 30 minutes you did not resolve my issue or actually look into " his response was "[11:12, 10/03/2026] Dstv: I’m sorry for the trouble you’ve encountered. Kindly advise can I transfer chat ?
[11:12, 10/03/2026] xxxxx: why and to who
[11:13, 10/03/2026] Dstv: To next agent as you are currently experiencing bad service from me as I am working on your account."

if only there was a better service provider i think everyone would move over to them DSTV IS SHIT

I am extremely disappointed with the…

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received from DStv. I sent an email requesting that my debit order date and bank account details be updated, but my email was ignored. As a result, my payment did not go through, and my service was disconnected.

I was then forced to pay R800 for reconnection due to what was clearly negligence on their side. This situation could have been completely avoided if my request had been handled properly and in time.

It is very frustrating to be made to pay for a company’s failure to process a simple account update. I expected better communication and customer service.

I hope DStv improves how they handle customer requests going forward.

Appalling service

Appalling service.
First my package is changed without my consent and I start receiving communication of disconnection if certain amounts are not paid and this is after I paid my monthly fees.
Finally after speaking to an agent I switched from the Family decoder package to the Family stream package on the understanding and commitment that the Family stream allows you to stream on 2 devices simultaneously (1 anywhere stream and 1 mobile stream) but this is not the case. I am unable to stream on 2 devices simultaneously. The package allows me to stream on 1 device at a time.
For the past week I have been trying to get someone at Myltichoice to fix the problem but am given the run around and the customer service agents all have a different version of the Family stream package.
Can someone just fix the problem coz I am paying for the service.

Wonderful service from the call centre

Wonderful service from the call centre, this last weekend. I needed to update my details and there was a system problem. Consultant phoned back in less than twenty-four hours. Furthermore, she also helped resolve my Disney plus subscription.

This service is SO Bad

This service is SO Bad. When you could watch programmes through the decoder MOST of the time .... it worked. You could forward and rewind. It was like using recorded programmes. THIS service! Iften just get flashing blue. Cannot forward or rewind. Episode navigation trickier. WHY would you further alienate your remai ing customers by doing this?

Internet Service Poor

No payment then cut off , now payment but not still cut off. Turnaround times 24hrs but mine is 5 days.Paid my monthly internet and my data not loaded its been a week after spoken to 4 agents. Every time they ask your personal details but nothing is sorted.

DSTV PREMIUM “UPSIZE” MADE ME REALISE THAT DSTV IS VERY EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT OFFERS

DStv (Multichoice) upgraded my package during January 2026 to Premium.
Presumably to make me forget the channels that they discontinued at the end of December 2025 [such as CBS reality and CBS Justice] and to entice me to subscribe to their Premium package at R979.00 per month.
After having the choice of all their channels until the end of January 2026, I have concluded that the extra R560.00 is NOT WORTH IT.
There are only 2 reasons why [for now] I keep my DStv Compact subscription at R 604.00 (including my PVR capability):
1. I enjoy live football (soccer), and
2. I live in a small village in the Karoo where my (cellular) internet connection is not reliable.
However, DStv got me comparing the R604.00 that I am currently paying with other available entertainment options:
(a) For the equivalent of 1 ½ months DStv subscription, I can buy a satellite decoder and thereafter watch a selection of channels for FREE when my internet is unstable at the end of the month.
(b) For the rest of the time, I have a wide choice of two streaming channels which I subscribe to already. I will no doubt find a streaming football channel to watch live matches for a lot less than R 604.00 per month.
Naturally, my subscription has remained unchanged despite the reduced number of channels.
I am not surprised that 93% of the reviews here are negative!

So..

The episodes are old and repetitive way more than ever!! Makes me wonder under what conditions these channels were kept... RIDICULOUS! ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE OTHERS ALSO NOTICE. May as well not have it. Beyond frustrating!

I finally saw the reason why the mighty DSTV is a sinking ship. I've had my account around 10 years; I personally dont watch it cause it has very outdated content. But used by my parents back at home.

As usual payment was made on the 25th; but still services were cut yesterday the 17th Jan. Upon contacting them; hey say I switched to dstv premium on the 15th of dec and ower R1050; which i didnt; and I tell them them to provide that conversation in texts or a phone call that happened to upgrade the package and they can't - i then tell them to switch it back to compact (though even in the past days we had no premium channels)

They then say they will do that but I still ower them R400

"How?"

You didn't pay for Jan they say
I provide proof that I paid for Jan on the 25th and they say that was for December? How when dstv is a prepaid service? I continue to tell the embarrassingly incompetent agent that dec payment is for Jan and Jan payment will be for Feb and that they have never provided a service and got paid after.

They still rudely refused to reconnect the service; and ive seen a few reviews on different platforms that have the same experience as I just this January

Id rather they cancel the whole thing: it's been a long time coming - it's best for the old dragon to die

DSTV (MULTICHOICE) is a SCAM now! They have started changing packages without consent from their subscribers so that they can bill more. When you follow up, they send you from pillar to post. I am so disappointed at them. DSTV is FRAUD!

DSTV stream is a scam, you claim one can register and stream without a decoder but after subscription it ask for both smartcard and customer number, then the customer service will ask you how did you manage to sign up and pay if you don't have one. What is this?
