I paid for an important paper to be checked for spelling and plagiarism but the service still has not been provided. I tried to contact customer service via email (only source of contact) and received silence. This "service" that they provide is a scam

Crimson Enago is as scam! They would take your rightful money after you work on a file and take much from your own time and effort and then they tell you sorry we will not compensate you for your work for any false excuse such as "Sorry, the system assigned the file to you by mistake!" or "Sorry, the intervention percentage is not up to the expected percentage of 10%" (which is totally unrealistic since almost all files do not require more than 6% intervention and I am a Senior Copy Editor with more than 10 years of experience so I surely know what I am talking about!). This is your problem as a company that you have a stupid system, not mine as a freelancer! And the list of lame excuses they give themselves for stealing the freelancers' money goes on and on!
I have been working with them as a freelancer copy editor for like a year and every couple of months I would have an issue with them because of their unfair system and inefficient employees! They would not even reply to your queries and complaints which is very disrespectful! BEWARE of dealing with Enago! They are unfair, unreliable, and untrustworthy!

Due to irresponsible behavior, my article got permanently rejected from the journal and I my promotion got delayed by 1 year, thanks to the worst company I have ever seen.

The issue is not the money, why do you think money is everything, what about delay in my promotion and all my tenure tracks?? My junior is my senior now. Who will compensate for my 1 year loss??? just refunding means everything is okay???

What can you do now? Can you get the manuscript published?

I used this company's "substantive editing" service for a journal article and was very disssapointed with the quality. I paid $612 and received a document back with only general (not substantial) revisions of the content and no comments or suggestions for improvements. There was no editor's report or editorial feedback on my text. Throughout the document, meaning had been changed and I spend a substantial amount of time carefully revising it back to its original meaning. I was particularly dissapointed by this because I was promised that a specialist in my field would edit my text. Also, I am almost certain that my text was not read by two different editors as the service promised. As an academic I have used many different proofreading and editing services. This was by far the worst and also by far the most expensive. I will not be using Enago again.
