Unfortunately, my experience with this recruiter has been extremely disappointing.
Communication has been incredibly difficult from the start. I initially missed a call from them and tried several times to call back but couldn’t get through. I eventually spoke to another member of staff, who assured me the recruiter would return my call, but I never heard anything.
Several days later, I finally managed to get through, by which point the job vacancy had already expired on the job site. I was told that they had submitted an application on my behalf, although given the lack of communication, I’m not entirely confident that this happened.
I later emailed to ask when I could expect to hear the outcome and was told it would be within a week. That week has now passed, and despite sending several follow-up emails, I have once again received no response.
I completely understand that recruiters are busy and that delays can happen, but consistently ignoring calls and emails is extremely frustrating, particularly when someone is waiting to hear about a job opportunity. Unfortunately, I’ve never had such a poor experience with a recruiter before.

From the initial contact from Oliver this process has been fantastic, a teams call was set up and a follow up interview after that, Oliver called me after each contact to see how I felt I got on, asked for feedback etc. I have been offered the job and have accepted, I start in the next few weeks - the communication has been great, calling at times that suited me, regular check in to make sure I was happy with how things were progressing - really glad I came accross this role! 100% would recommend Oliver at Ernest Gordon based on this experience.

I would not recommend. All calls were very high pressure and low minutes. There were negotiations on salary within the first 3 minutes without knowing anything about the person on the phone.
Recruiter did not know enough about the job and tried to downplay knowledge.
Interview with the company revealed that the expectation from the managers at the company was full time office whilst the recruiter and job description said full time remote/hybrid.
I asked for feedback on the interview and never received it after a month.
I've been on both sides of the coin and I would definitely not recommend either with this company

Applied for a role with Ernest Gordon, had one call back mid morning that I was unable to take, tried to call back multiple times trying all different options on their menu, (their telephone music is infuriating btw!) when I FINALLY got through to someone I was told that I couldn't talk to the agent as they are on other business until late afternoon! As with most agencies these days the ad gives very little information about the company recruiting and the role concerned, only general details. Feel like agents these days are gatekeepers and select what you can apply for, probably to suit their own targets. Cant help feeling like Ernest Gordon think I'm working for them not the other way around, absolutely Zero confidence in this agency

Had what sounded like a promising role that fitted the skill set i had, heard multiple times from the person i was talking to although a fair few times had to make multiple calls to get through to someone finally. But when the decision came post interview waited a week to hear something but didnt. So again i made a phone call and sent emails to not hear anything! so you had better be employed by whoever they are recruiting for or dont expect to hear anything and be left in the dark with no answer.

Edward was outstanding from my first enquiry, through the interview process and beyond me getting the role. He always kept in touch and was there to answer any questions I had all along the way. Highly recommend Ernest Young Recruitment.

After applying for a job, I was contacted by A. Suprisingly I missed his call, so I called back. Couldn’t get hold of him or anyone for two weeks. Finally I was able to speak to someone who told me he was at lunch. I left a message. but A didn’t call back. So I continued to call and still no one connected the call. After two more weeks, I was able to speak to someone who said he was on holiday and would be back after May Bank Holiday and a message would be left for him to contact me. It is now June 8th 2026, and still no call from A.To say this is the very worst experience I’ve had from a recruitment company is stating the obvious. Utterly unprofessional.

I had a great experience with Ernest Gordon Recruitment. Harry Penny was extremely helpful and supportive throughout the recruitment process. Very efficient and great communication by all

I have applied for several HR roles given my qualifications, experience and knowledge and have NEVER received any communications from Ernest Gordon. I have telephoned them alas to say I have now resorted to emailing them (doubtful I will receive a reply.) Moving forward I will not be applying for any further roles advertised by the agency.

Really terrible experience with this agency. I received an unexpected call and was immediately questioned. The representative was rude, dismissive of my answers, and spoke over me. She then abruptly hung up, saying she had over 100 applicants for the role and didn’t want to waste time on me.

First of all, when I looked up this company I was not surprised at the percentage of 1 star reviews !
I had a disappointing experience with this recruitment agency and felt it was important to share it.
My initial contact was with a recruiter who came across as abrupt and dismissive. I was repeatedly interrupted, not given space to explain my situation, and the (very quick) conversation focused almost entirely on logistics (postcode and commute) rather than my skills, experience, or suitability for the role. I was told I lived too far away (a 45 min commute) The call felt rushed and transactional rather than professional or consultative.
Following this, I was contacted by another member of staff. Unfortunately, their response did not include an apology or acknowledgment of the concerns I had raised. Instead, the language used was the gold standard non-apology (“I’m sorry you feel this way”), which placed the responsibility back on me rather than addressing the conduct or experience itself.
Overall, I did not feel listened to, valued, or treated with respect as a candidate. Recruitment should be about understanding people as well as roles, and that was sadly missing here. As a result, I chose to withdraw my details and would not feel confident engaging with this agency again.

Alex is a lovley bloke who keeps you up to date with everything. They got me the interviews and I can only thank the Ernest Gordon team .
