Bought a used car from Evans Halshaw Citroën Sheffield. The vehicle broke down within weeks of purchase with an engine fault and they are denying liability.
I was assured at point of sale that the car had been fully checked and was suitable for a long journey. While travelling abroad (around 2 weeks after the purchase date of the vehicle), approximately 200 miles into the trip, the vehicle developed a serious engine fault warning stating it would soon become unstartable.
I contacted Evans Halshaw Citroen and was advised to have the vehicle inspected and repaired by the nearest official Citroën dealership and to bring the costs back to them. The repair was carried out by Citroen mechanics, however the same engine fault reoccurred on the return journey.
Since then, Evans Halshaw have denied responsibility for the fault and later stated that no contact was made prior to the repair, despite call records and a transcript confirming that contact did take place. Liability for the repair costs has also been disputed.
I am now in a prolonged dispute in which my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right to reject a vehicle that developed a fault shortly after purchase, continue to be denied.
My family has been without the car for months while this dispute continues. I would strongly advise others to avoid this dealership at all costs and save yourself the stress. In my opinion I wouldn't buy a car from a dealership who won't admit any fault on a car that broke down within weeks of purchase.

Received a letter regarding a recall for the airbag in mid December, saying I must contact my nearest Citroen dealership, this being Evan’s Halshaw in Sheffield. I was passing by at 11am on 24/12/25 only to find the dealership closed. Today 10/01/26 I made the effort to go by and make an appointment to have the airbag replaced. On arrival the sales staff informed me that service was closed and I had to return on Monday, not even an offer of taking my number and they will get service to call me or even the offer of giving me their phone number to call them as I work Monday to Friday and am on the road and unable to go in during the week. The attitude of staff on duty was disgusting and this attitude made me lose my composure. One dealership I never want to have to return to. If I could give a negative rating I would

The staff are all lovely yet professional.

Excellent service from everyone I dealt with at the branch. I dealt with Jake in the sales team when I purchased my car and he was great. He explained all the options, was not pushy but patient and answered all my questions. The car had a couple of issues to sort as I viewed and bought it before the usual servicing and valeting etc. These issues were dealt with by Jake and the service team in a timely manner. I felt that Jake took care of me and my new car very conscientiously. Overall, I'm so pleased with my car and a happy customer.

Top quality work at a good price would recommend to anybody

After buying a car from Evans Halshaw in Sheffield (a good experience), I'd brought my car in for a MOT/Service.

Staff were excellent and went out of their way to be helpful, even setting me up some space to work while I waited. Highly recommend.
