Experience has been very frustrating. Exchange rate for my deposit and balance payments were well above central bank rates. Took 5 days to confirm receipt of a wire transaction from one US bank to another. Customer service whether through email or phone is completely unresponsive.

I spent about two weeks going back-and-forth with Flywire's customer service to ensure a refund I was expecting (a good chunk of the total tuition fee I paid my university) would end up in the correct bank account, because I had moved countries in between and therefore my old bank account was closed.
At the end of that, I received confirmation that all looked good, and they would initiate the refund into my new bank account.
And then they didn't. They sent it to the original bank account. This was over 2 months ago. Since then, I've hardly received updates (and those that I have, have been recycled 'please accept our apologies' messages more than actual updates).
To this day, I have no idea where those thousands of euros currently are, and if or how I will ever get them back.
I've been patient, but the fact that my requests for updates have now been getting ignored for 4+ weeks is disappointing and distressing beyond belief.
I can genuinely hardly fathom that almost 6000 euros, money I spent years saving up, are just lost and may never return to me.
I'd genuinely recommend against opting with Flywire if you want to be sure you'll get your money back/if money isn't disposable to you, should the need arise.

Very slow movement of funds to pay my son's school,which is not listed either on their website after over a year.i would prefer to pay the school direct but they insist on using this slow cumbersome payment tool,not impressed we are now living in age with Blockchain ,wise and revolut banks send payment in seconds, this took best part of a week.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with Flywire while trying to pay my university fees.
I followed all the instructions carefully and made the payment through my partner’s bank, ensuring that the correct reference ID was included. However, even after waiting for two weeks, the payment was still not reflected in my university account.
When I contacted Flywire support, I was repeatedly told that they had not received the money and that I must have made a mistake — which was not the case. I even provided them with the official bank deposit receipt as proof of payment, but this still did not help. Despite clear evidence, they continued to deny receiving the funds.
I then contacted the bank, and they confirmed that the money had successfully reached the destination bank. Even after sharing this information, Flywire continued to insist that the funds were not with them.
The situation became extremely stressful, especially as my university fee deadline was approaching. Because Flywire could not locate the funds, I was forced to make a second payment of the same amount directly to my university to avoid missing my deadline. This was a significant financial burden, as a large amount of money was already stuck with Flywire at the time.
The entire experience was incredibly stressful and honestly quite traumatising. I was under constant anxiety, not knowing where my money was and whether it would affect my enrolment.
What made things worse was the customer service. Not only was there no real help provided, but one of the support representatives was rude and even raised their voice during the call. That was completely unacceptable.
After being told to initiate a payment trace (which takes around 15 days), I suddenly received an email from Flywire saying they had located the exact amount on their end and asking if I wanted a refund. This was shocking, especially after they had repeatedly told me the funds were not in their accounts.
Overall, I am extremely disappointed with how this situation was handled — from incorrect information to poor communication and unprofessional customer service. I would not recommend using Flywire based on this experience.

Great customer service dealing with my problem but better UX would have prevented my problem. Correctly identifying the account/payee numbers to give my bank was confusing at times.
