What a pile of nonsense
What a pile of nonsense. £7.99 to send an instant message. Considering if its a pet you're looking for you're going to send maybe 2 or 3 initial messages then never use the site again so I'd hardly call it value for money. Pathetic and greedy is what this site is when there are sites like gumtree that are completely free for buyers and sellers. And in regards to their ridiculous responses to other reviews slating their greed stating that paying the 7.99 demonstrates commitment.... what an absolute crock of sh... ugar! Paying the 7.99 doesn't guarantee a repsonse from the seller and it doesn't guarantee that the buyer is going to see through their enquiry or that they are buying for legitimate reasons. Then theres the fact that they will be paying whatever the price is for the pet anyway so its quite simply a speil to justify ripping folk off. Scammers and liers and I'll neither buy nor sell anything through this site.
Update to their reply: but it is 7.99 for a single message if you only send one because once that initial message is seen by the advertiser and responded to you no longer need VIP do you?. I've tried to message the same ad twice and both times have been put into a queue because i don't have VIP so its basically blackmail. And also, you are asking for ad ID to confirm my review is genuine knowing I'm a buyer and not a seller so i won't have an ad ID. This is so you can attempt to have my review taken down. I'll say it again. PATHETIC!
Additionally, you are paying for the pet anyway whether that be £50 or £500, so how does paying an additional £7.99 to a faceless company demonstrate any sort of extra commitment to an individual seller? That argument is just a lot of rubbish. Especially where in my case the pet i was enquiring about is only £20 to start with... LOL!!!! Please do tell us all how you justify £7.99 to send a message about a pet that costs £20?? Extra commitment my armpit!
Can i ask how much of that £7.99 is donated to animal charities? Zero is the answer. So you don't really give a hoot about pet welfare do you? It's about the profit you can make from creating urgency and nothing else.
Lastly, i described your service as a scam, because using any form of blackmail for financial gain is exactly that.

We agree with one point you've raised: purchasing VIP does not guarantee a response from an advertiser, nor does it guarantee that someone will be a suitable pet owner. We have never suggested otherwise. It is simply one of several ways breeders can identify prospective owners who are prepared to make an additional commitment when searching for a pet.

I advised puppies for sale. I payed to advised.
I barely got any veiws and then when people wanted to contact me they had to pay for my contact details, thus explained why i was getting no views. I sold no puppies with them. It was a complete waste of money and my time. I will not be using them again.

We would, however, like to clarify a few points about how Freeads Pets works.
Firstly, placing a pet advert on Freeads Pets is completely free. Our advertising upgrades are entirely optional and are designed to increase an advert's visibility, although the number of enquiries will naturally depend on factors such as location, demand, photographs and the information provided.
Secondly, buyers do not have to pay simply to view your advert or express an interest in your puppies. Our messaging service can be used without purchasing VIP, although some newer adverts offer priority contact to VIP members. Revealing an advertiser's telephone number is an additional VIP benefit, rather than a requirement for making an enquiry.
We also want to reassure you that VIP membership does not determine how many people can view your advert. Advert views and messaging permissions are separate features, so a buyer choosing not to purchase VIP would not explain a low number of advert views.
We appreciate how disappointing it can be when an advert doesn't achieve the result you expected. We'd be happy to review your advertising performance, including the views and enquiries received, if you contact our support team.

PATHETIC........ I HAVE ENOUGH PROOF VIA JUST 2 PPL THAT GOT CUT OFF WITH YOU ASKING FOR PAYMENT BUT THANKFULLY THEY FOUND MY AD AGAIN ON OTHER SITES

Freeads are constantly bombarding you with ads to pay for more.
The other thing noted is that for some reason you get the odd day where ppl contact you then you can spend weeks not getting any reply whatsoever !?
A second thing to note is that, when a person/buyer that NOT paid to be a VIP member will get cut off on a txt/messaging conversion (this is clearly restricted after just a few texts from the buyers side before being made to pay a fee) whilst using Freeads messaging, with Freeads then telling the buyer that they HAVE TO BUY a VIP package to continue to message a seller back (Which 95% won't as one lady buyer said that it felt like a scam when she found my ad on Gumtree and contactedme that way)
If the seller refuses to buy the VIP packet all communications will stop, leaving the seller that has paid for the VIP membership, with a lost buyer ??? (Somewhat a scam to me)
As a few have mentioned on here about Gumtree, after 3 weeks of practically no one messaging (with the few that had and had oddly randomly stopped obviously due to them not wanting to pay for the VIP membership fees) I also decided to spend out the extra £6.99 and advertised my pups on Gumtree, and I/we were blown away by the responses that we had back and all 8 of the puppies were sold within a 2 day period and the last pup on day 3 of advertising them on Gumtree.
So very big lesson learnt that it's very clear and obvious that Freeads are (1) far to expensive for both seller and buyer, (2) make the advertising not seen, (3) are just greedy to the point that tgat no one buys as they want more and more money which to me is not a good hence no sale in 3 weeks)
With Gumtree you pay your £6.99 and the buyer and seller can contact each other freely with nothing to pay after - so seller pays once and that's it, with no hidden fees or restrictions unlike Freeads
Will I ever use Freeads again - NO
Will I use Gumtree instead - YES
Another thing I've read that Freeads told/replied back another Trust Pilot reviewer to their one star review was that they was basically a lier and was making up untrue allegations- as a customer myself and with what I've witnessed and experienced I have found that what this person has written was 100% correct and the only one tgat was lying was freeads in that reply back to save face.
Seriously Do NOT Waste your money with freeads on there very dodgy VIP membership because unless seller and buyer pays for the VIP membership, you will be left NOT being able to sell or being able to buy your pet.
Message to Freeads: as one of your other one star reviewers has already suggested to you, Do NOT bother replying back to this review, I've read other one star reviews, I've experienced first hand everything listed above, so DO NOT try to wiggle out by writing a lot of nonsense because we all ready know whats the truthand what isnt !!.

Firstly, advertising a pet on Freeads Pets is completely free. There is no mandatory advertising charge, and our Featured Ad, Boost and VIP services are entirely optional. Members are under no obligation to purchase any of these services to place an advert.
Secondly, our messaging system can be used without purchasing VIP. Some newer adverts offer priority contact to VIP members, helping breeders prioritise enquiries from committed prospective owners. This is not the same as requiring every buyer and seller to purchase VIP before they can communicate.
We must also correct the suggestion that Freeads Pets deliberately makes adverts invisible or restricts their visibility to encourage additional purchases. This is simply not how our website operates. Enquiry levels naturally vary according to demand, location, the type of pet being advertised and the presentation of individual adverts. A quieter period does not establish that an advert has been deliberately suppressed.
We're pleased you've found a service that works for you, and everyone is entitled to choose where they advertise. However, comparisons with another website do not substantiate the serious allegations being made about Freeads Pets.
