Just wanted to clarify, Grass is not mining and Grass has nothing to do with your data. Grass is simply using your IP address to route web requests for scraping data on the public web (something that has been around for quite some time).
If you did not receive a great allocation it's likely due to an issue with your setup. It could be due to your app(s) not being up to date or not having a stable enough connection for Grass to use!

After 2 years of lets the app run in background for free, and what they give/payback us is diabolical unbelievable. 572 days, 2 devices, 1.74M uptime points — $5.36 allocation. Years of uptime, bandwidth, and electricity costs for what amounts to pocket change while the leaderboard shows a handful of accounts pulling thousands.

Grass is designed to run in the background of your device as you use it so there are no additional electricity costs or costs to your internet. Grass does not use additional resources in that way.
Users were rewarded fairly based on their contributions to the network. If you did get much of a reward it's likely due to not getting many network points. This can happen because of your app(s) not being up to date or not having a stable enough connection for Grass to use!

Just wanted to clarify a few things,
Grass is NOT mining. It's not the same as mining Bitcoin for example. Grass is simply using your spare bandwidth to route web requests to scrape data on the public web. It does NOT use hardware of your device aside from being a background process on your device as you use it.
For example, the Grass app on my MacBook Pro takes about 20mb of RAM and thats about it! So it's almost invisible as it runs on the device.
If you didnt get much of a reward it's likely due to either not updating your app(s) or not having a stable enough connection for Grass to use!

I ran Grass for almost 600 days
I ran Grass for almost 600 days, accumulated over 2 million uptime points, used multiple devices, and referred users. After nearly two years of supporting the network, my reward was only a few dollars.
The biggest issue is that users spent years collecting uptime points, only to find out that Network Points, which depend largely on demand and factors outside the user's control, were worth far more. Many long-term supporters feel that loyalty and consistent participation were not adequately rewarded.
The project itself works, but the reward system left me disappointed and feeling that the time and effort invested were not fairly recognized. I can no longer recommend it to others based on my experience.

The years of supporting Grass is as simple as letting the app run in the background of your device. There is very little that is required of you aside from using your device like normal. If you didn't earn many network points it's likely due to a few things that are within your control. Keeping the app up to date and making sure you have a stable connection are to of the big things you can influence!

Indeed doing manual labor for a neighbor will probably pay you more than running an application in the background of your device that does not require much of your attention. Grass is not designed to be a main source of income, it's designed to give you some compensation for a resource that you pay for but don't use all of.

The Grass application on both desktop devices and android devices works very well! Since the app runs in the background of your device, it does not require any of your time to run (you just simply run it when you use your device like normal).
The Grass Foundation rewarded around 2 million users during stage 2 and about 6.2m users in stage 2! Currently stage 3 is ongoing so stay tuned for more info around that!

The Grass foundation is about to distribute $3M USDC to 6.29m users in a couple days. Grass is actually providing value for something big companies are already taking from your internet via sdk's (such as downloading free screensavers, apps, vans, etc) without rewarding you for it. The users that received more rewards than others earned more network points which means their bandwidth was used to help route public web requests on the Grass Network.
The best way to have the best chance of getting those points is to make sure you have your app(s) up to date and a stable connection for Grass to use!

I have been with grass since the start, received some grass tokens in the first release, this 2nd airdrop is an absolute disgrace, 1. It should be in grass tokens NOT stable coin, 2. You need to do airdrops min once a year, if not twice a year, 3. The allocation of $10, which i received is an absolute joke... many people received even less, do you think this appropriate compensation for over 1.5 years ?? I have removed grass and I can only hope many more people do the same. Shame on you.

Network points are earned when your bandwidth is actively used by the Grass network. Not getting many can be a result of not updating the app and or not having a stable connection for Grass to use.

It sounds like you aren't satisfied with the allocation you got. However there really is no disadvantage to running Grass on your device because the alternative to running Grass would be getting $0 for the bandwidth you have sitting idle. If you are paying for a resource and don't use all of it, I think it makes sense to rent some of it out!
The rewards you see in your allocation tab on the Grass dashboard are final and will be available to claim on July 22nd at 1:00pm EST!

If users did not receive much of an allocation is likely due to not contributing as much. If a users bandwidth is used as they are providing uptime, they will earn network points. Those network points held more weight during the stage 2 rewards distribution because they represent direct contributions to the network.
Getting Network points can rely on things like demand but the best way to have the best chances would be to make sure your app(s) are up to date and you are using a stable/reliable internet connection for Grass to connect to!

I ran Grass for close to 20 months, sharing my internet bandwidth and paying for the electricity to keep multiple devices online 24/7. For most of that time, the system was Uptime-based. Then, after Epoch 11, Grass quietly introduced a "Network Points" system as the primary metric — and every bit of the Uptime-based effort I put in for months before that essentially got devalued to near-zero.
Let's talk about the math: Grass claims 6.29 million users rewarded, with a total of $3 million distributed. Do that division yourselves — that's less than $0.50 per user on average, for months (in many cases, years) of continuous bandwidth and electricity contribution. This isn't a rewards program, this is a token-farming operation that harvested value from millions of users' real resources and gave back scraps.
And instead of the token-based allocation that was promised and expected from a project like this, we get "distribution in USDC" — a few cents to a couple of dollars, dressed up with a fancy dashboard, graphs, and "epoch snapshots" to make it look sophisticated.
Did Grass not know this math beforehand? They control the entire points system, the entire conversion rate, the entire timeline. This wasn't a surprise to them — it was the plan from day one. Meanwhile the community gave real bandwidth, real electricity bills, real device wear and tear, and real time — for over a year — and got told to be grateful for a dollar or two.
I'm done contributing my resources to this network. If you're new here — read this review carefully before you sink 20 months of your electricity bill and bandwidth into a system that changes its own rules midway and then hands you loose change.

The rules never changed at any point during stage 2. Early on, the priority was uptime and growth, making sure enough devices were online to support the network. Since web requests are actively flowing, Network Points were introduced to reflect real usage which began in epoch 11.
Grass is taking advantage of resources that you pay for but don't use all of, so theres no investment on anything other than what you are already paying for! I totally understand being disappointed about getting a low allocation but Grass is actually providing value for something big companies are already taking from your internet via sdk's without rewarding you for it!
