I paid off my premiums in full and received an overpayment check 2 years later. Called and they don’t make sense as to why 2 years later I still have a balance an overpayment. Don’t recommend.

every review is negative as this company does everything to hold onto other peoples money. They are the worst financial company I have ever encountered.
Poor customer service, unprofessional.

NINE years ago I prepaid the remaining premiums on a life insurance policy with Global Atlantic / Forethought. NOW, nine years later, they sent me a refund with an unprofessional form letter which chided me for paying off my policy NINE years ago. I tried calling the Customer Service Center number, which is off-shore, and could understand absolutely nothing the rep said. When I tried to go on-line, their system was off-line. I don't think there could be a less professional insurance company in existence.
For the past few years, every time I have tried to withdraw money, they have come up with an excuse to hold onto it. This year, they said my faxed request was unclear. I refaxed it, then a couple weeks later got a message saying "owner's name does not match our records and sgnature is unclear." Another year, they said my signature did not match. I can understand their caution but the check is being sent to my home address, which is on file with them. I will call them again tomorrow. Note that they only have one star reviews so don't deserve a 2.8!
Customer service is terrible. Because our agent died I have had to deal with these people myself. After 10 years of paying rider fees on our annuities it was time to start receiving our Guaranteed Lifetime Income Benefit. Filled out the forms 2 months ago for a 6/1/2025 start date of yearly payouts. Heard back that both annuities were pended. I called them 5/28 to insure everything was on track. Was told forms were sent in wrong so corrected and sent them back. Nothing, no response. Called back 5/30 was told forms were sent in wrong. Corrected and sent back. Nothing no response. Called back 6/4 and was told one of forms was paid and the other was sent in wrong. Every time I called I talked to a different person and was given different instructions. No one speaks english well and very difficult to understand. I asked to speak to a supervisor but one was not available. I asked about the yearly payments I was to receive on the form that they accepted and was told something very different than what my yearly statements show me, 15% less. The person told me there were added charges not just the rider charges. When my statements say Guaranteed Annual Income I assume this is the Guaranteed Annual Income. I asked her about it she got real snotty. What added charges? She mumbled something in a foreign language. There was no problem 10 years ago. They took our premiums without any questions. I just feel the longer they hold onto the payouts multiplied by the number of payouts they make is making them a lot of money. Global Atlantic your customer service terrible.
This company can improve by caring for their customers and not charging them high payoff amounts if they do not meet the deadline. I was dealing with Forethought Life Insurance Company and after a year there is a final payoff figure to pay off the insurance policy. I was dealing with other issues and miss the payoff figure. The company said that they had sent me a letter which I did not get. After some months I called them to pay off the amount owing on the Policy and it was close to $2000 more because I had not paid it on time. They delayed the payoff amount and came up with same amount. I fully understand that there would be additional monies owed because of me missing the deadline but $2000 more is a bit much. This is not a company i want to deal with...not understanding at all.
GAFG is poorly structured with arcane policies and generally poorly trained phone reps. I had poor experiences in the 3 years I had an annuity with them. The distribution process was unnecessarily cumbersome and a waste of time and effort. Seven pages had to be sent and no errors or missed information was tolerated. The processing department worked very slowly and were not transparent in what they were doing or thinking when they processed my requested distribution requests. They were not willing to communicate with clients to share any information useful to its investors. I was unable to speak to them and express my problems. My other annuities processed my distributions by phone with one to two days of processing time. Their reps were well trained and more courteous than those at GAFG. Also, a simple request to find out the processing status would result on long hold times - sometimes 30 minutes or even more. Asking for a supervisor was even riskier as the hold time would be even longer. Complaints to management were futile since they never responded or took any action that improved the situation. It was by far the most disappointing annuity company I ever dealt with. Investors considering this company should beware of similar difficulties they will face and be frustrated with. My financial advisor who picked this company did a great disservice to me. Maybe they offer higher commissions than others.
