I really enjoyed meeting the members and the staff who all made a lot of sense to me. I thought it was a good idea to combine a trip to Parliament with a meeting because that was an inducement for me to come in person even though the weather was a bit too much for me at 85. I am fully in support of getting the water companies back in control. Please may it be soon.

I had an excellent experience with GMB London Region during one of the most difficult periods of my life. From the beginning, James Wood was professional, supportive and always willing to answer my questions. He took the time to explain the process clearly, kept me updated and genuinely cared about helping me through my employment dispute.

I never felt like I was dealing with everything alone. The advice and representation I received gave me confidence and helped me understand my rights. I really appreciated the time and effort James put into my case.

After cancer, I was trying to return to work, but I felt blocked by my employer. The things being asked of me, and the way they were behaving, did not feel right. As I was not yet fully fit, I found it exhausting trying to get my point across. As a GMB member, I asked for their support.

I was assigned Rachael Baylis, and I am not joking when I say the relief of having someone support you both over the phone and in meetings at the office was incredible. She really knew her stuff — structured, informative, kind, and genuinely helpful.

The workplace immediately made changes, which showed me I was not imagining things, as those changes made everything easier. GMB continue to support you through whatever you decide and remind businesses of the laws that protect you as an employee.

Do not hesitate to join GMB. It is like insurance — you may not need it immediately, but when you do, you know it is there for you.

This course training was very well structured and involved processing large amounts of information in an evenly-spaced out and controlled manner. The staff teaching & students I was with are all respectful and I feel comfortable in being verbally involved as well.

GMB are an incredible union who have supported me throughout my career and helped me when I needed it the most. The value that you get for the subs is well worth it!

The GMB really stepped up when I was facing a difficult employment issue. They know employment law, and their advocates are great at negotiating good outcomes for their members.

I was facing a restructure where my only real option was redundancy, and I couldn’t make head nor tails of what my options where as I was so overwhelmed. My GMB rep sat with me multiple times, explained exactly what my options were, and then completely changed the tone of how my employer was dealing with me by negotiating with them on my behalf. They also negotiated terms regarding my notice, working hours, etc. I felt completely lost before I rung GMB London and they were just so supportive and informative — it’s not an exaggeration to say that they were a lifeline when I really needed one. I have been a GMB member for two years, and it’s the first time I’ve needed them — and I will 100% be staying with them as my union. Just an excellent organisation who I have much to thank for.
