I recently used Goughs Family Solicitors and I was assigned Mr Matthew Drew to help me solve a family matter. He was absolutely brilliant I would highly recommend. Extremely personable, professional and knowledgeable. Clearly the best in the surrounding area and I would most definitely use again if needed and a huge level of trust was gained.

Well experienced company helped all the way though the process sorted all the legal side of things came out with a good outcome.

Following a family death and an ongoing family dispute it soon became evident that I would need the services of a specialist Solicitor. I was originally hesitant having had some poor experiences with other legal firms in the past.
I was put in touch with Elizabeth Stiddard at Goughs who has dealt with my case with the utmost professionalism. Ever conscious of my own circumstances, she has always responded promptly and expertly, and has ultimately ensured that I will receive the outcome that I was due. Couldn't rate highly enough.

Miss Wood has been my solicitor for 3 years during my divorce. She has been nothing but professional and supportive at all times. It has been particularly difficult for me and she has gone out of her way to ensure my well being is ok and I have people around me to support me. My partner has been using Goughs for the last couple of years throughout a very emotional fight to get access to his children, and to finalise his divorce.
Whilst I have no experience of the larger law firms, I can honestly say the team at Goughs have shown such dedication to him, regardless of the fact they have countless other clients to attend to.
Going with Goughs was the best decision he made.
His solicitor (Eleanor Wood) has been available for him almost 24 hours a day, and has always provided sound advice. He's used her from the start, and as a result she knows every single detail about his situation, which has meant that he's had continuity of service throughout the Children and Financial agreements.
Not only has Eleanor provided fantastic service, this appreciation also has to be passed to the wider team, who have stepped in during annual leave and have never needed to be re-briefed on the current situation.
Whilst I hope that no-one has to get to the stage where they need legal advice, if you do, I would highly recommend Goughs as they give you what feels like their undivided attention, throughout a really tough time.

I cannot fault the support and guidance I have received from the whole team at Goughs during my divorce process
I chose Goughs as they were local to the area, but I really do feel that I would not have received the same level of support or attention to detail if I had gone to one of the big “city” firms.
The service that I have received from Eleanor, Amelia and Chelsea has been outstanding.
In Eleanor, I had someone who was passionate about achieving the right result, not only for me, but also for my children and I can honestly say she went above and beyond to achieve the best result possible when dealing with the obstructive nature of the other side.
It was disappointing that both the family and finances had to end up in front of a judge, but it was noticeable that although the other side instructed different Barristers for the 2 hearings, Eleanor was more than able to get our points across and successfully pick holes in their arguments.
When it came to negotiating the final terms of the financial settlement Eleanor’s pragmatic approach ensured that we achieved a fair result, that allowed the children to remain in the area and have a decent lifestyle, but also allow me the ability to start again.
I would have no concerns in recommending Goughs to anyone looking for good practical sensible legal advice.

I have been in the legal system since June 2018 having decided to instigate divorce proceedings against my now ex husband. I could never have imagined how things would have escalated to the situation I am in now. I never realised the degree to which I was controlled by my ex husband. Despite the divorce and finances being sorted relatively easily it has been another story altogether in relation to the children. Goughs have been with me all the way, Eleanor Wood, in particular. She is always there for me and will support me whenever needed. She takes a lot of the abuse away from me dealing with my ex husband herself. My ex husband has continued to take me back to court time and again. On many occasions he has lost his application and I have been awarded costs. Ellie always ensures that my back is covered and shows me in a true light to professionals despite the accusations thrown around by my ex. It is disappointing that 3 and a half years on I still need legal representation but unfortunately I do. I thank Ellie for all the help, support and encouragement that she offers me especially when things are really tough.

I am going through a very bad time at the moment with a custody battle for my daughter I contacted goughs and they put me in touch with Eleanor wood one of there family Solicitors and i could not wish for a better service from her she has been very helpful and professional and we are getting the results i want that is in my daughters best interests i can call her any time i need advice if she is busy she will always call back or i can send an email and she will get back to me asap i can not fault this lady in any way i am spoken to like a friend not just a client i am put at ease through everything that is happening as it is not nice being in court but ellie makes it so much easier for me

Having dealt with Eleanor Wood at Goughs solicitors for over a year I have found her to hide behind an email rather than make phone calls, her tone on e mails is about as human as a rock and she clearly does not have her clients interests in mind. It’s clearly all about money and making things as hard and prolonged as possible. Having dealt with solicitors in the UK and France she is by far the worst I have come across. I would not recommend this company and would happily show anyone the type of e mail correspondence I refer to so please get in touch if needed. A simple question can take 2 months to answer and if she was working in the interest of her clients, this should take a week maximum. Sad to write this review and I wish she had dealt with me and my ex better. If you want to loose money, use this company, otherwise look elsewhere in my humble opinion

Despite the unfortunate situation that I have found myself in, it was nice to meet Tom once more, he has a way of swiftly putting one at ease so you can talk through your issue and get to the important points.

Following my meeting with Tom, my ex partner and I agreed on a maintenance amount going forward and childcare responsibilities for the next quarter.

In addition, she has informed the CMS that we have reached a voluntary arrangement and there is no need for their intervention.

However I feel about the fairness of the situation, there is no doubt that our two lovely children will be best served by the agreement that was made last night and I would like to express my gratitude to Tom and Sabine for their excellent contributions.

Lacking integrity and professional competency SB and HB (Devizes) allowed, and tacitly approved of, a breach of contract.
If they can’t even do “fixtures and fittings” within a sale of a property properly, they cannot be trusted.
A formal complaint to the Legal Ombudsman is being made.
Avoid at all costs

The negative review will stay in place until;
1. The Breach of Contract no longer exists.
2. The Legal Ombudsman tells me to take it down.

Who is SB or HB to deny PH (89) or KH (85) curtains that were in the fixtures and fittings CONTRACT, that were not present when the keys were handed over?

Neutral solicitors who have seen the response from Goughs believe that email to be “incompetent” at best and that Goughs to be in breach of the Solicitors Code of Conduct. Whether I am a client or not (we have power of attorney), I can comment on your inability “to do the right thing” (integrity) and lack of professionalism.

Shocking,I certainly won't be asking Goughs to act for me again!!!

Sadly, no, it did not get resolved. God only knows why it took you 8 months to send me a bill and with no breakdown - surely you can see that is very bad business?
