Leyland Gym is good but staff are awful and lazy and have a horrible attitude. The staff change all the time a new employee every week . The pool area is disgustingly dirty, grimy floor and the changing room showers stink, avoid like the plague.

Was loving this gym but aircon will
not be put on unless outside temperature is 21degrees or above which is ridiculous. Inside is now so stuffy and uncomfortable doing any level off workout has become very difficult if not dangerous. I am seriously thinking of moving to another gym.

Manager was very rude and abrupt!
My daughter took me this gym today as a guest, but to be told I had to pay which wasn’t a problem, she took my name and accusingly said I’ve been the gym before , I explained I had not and it was my first time.. she didn’t bother to ask my birth date to prove it was someone else with the same name as me. My daughter said she was going to put a complaint in about her unprofessional attitude, her reply was “ I don’t care” absolutely disrespectful towards customers.. She needs get some customer service training! Needless to say I won’t be joining this gym!

My partner and myself joined a couple of weeks ago and are already contemplating leaving. We both have ailments of different kinds so have been advised to join a gym. We both agree that the pool and pool area is very dirty. You can feel grit underfoot and I once, whilst doing aqua Zumba, had to fight of handfuls of hair. The lack of response to emails sent and the fact you cannot ring is very annoying. Too many young staff who are too busy talking to each other than interact with customers. Classes always overrun and no proper cool down or stretches. We have been unable to use the spa facilities because they are always full so cannot comment on them.

Decided to go to the Layland branch even though i live 50 min away from it because i heard apparently it was the best gym in the whole of north west. Anyways heard that they do a day pass so decided to go for it. When i went to the front desk, there was a tall young lad who i asked for the day pass and he just said “dont do em anymore” really bluntly and rudely and walked off before i could even speak about any other option. I could sense the racism as he wasnt even willing to look at me never mind speak to me. I felt so bad. Just because my skin is brown should i get treated any different to a white customer? then a shorter gentleman came and started speaking to myself and my friend and explained all the other options available but by then i didnt want to stick around that place any longer. Please check your reception staff out.

Absolutely shocking been going to this gym for years it has gone downhill so much, pool always has swimming lessons going on, equipment has never been changed or upgraded, it’s expensive monthly payments for what you get, steam room is always broken, and in order to cancel your membership due to private/ medical reasons they want proof or you can’t cancel the membership you have to keep paying even though you can’t attend!!!

Gymetc in Stalybridge is worth the money.

I pay £20 a month elsewhere, and don't get the spa, sauna, swimming pool etc - so it's a bargain.

Could definitely do with more benches / cable machines at peak times, but the staff are all really friendly and helpful.

I've never been to a gym and been offered advice from a PT. They're normally pedoing the females in the gym and ignore all the guys wanting advice. But I went here yesterday and was offered a free session with one of the guys working there and I've learned loads.

Grateful this is within driving distance, will now be my local gym.

AVOID AT ALL COST!
If you join the congleton branch to use the 'relaxing' pool spa area, you will get the opposite. Children's swimming instructor yelling and shouting making it difficult to chill out and concentrate. Quarter of pool closed off at peak times daily leaving no room for more than 2 people to swim. Not at all relaxing as advertised with low lighting you would assume that this is what you signed up for...it's not!! After emailing several times, my issue was completely disregarded, obviously just want to keep their monthly fee with no duty of care to any individual.

Gym not bad. It's the all absolute weapons that use the gym that lets it down.
Yeah. Rest between sets thats fine. NOT SIT ON THE MACHINE CHECKING ALL YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA FOR AGES AND NOT LETTING ANYONE ELSE USE THE MACHINE. THEN ACT LIKE AN ABSOLUTE PETULANT CHILD WHEN SOMEONE ASKS IF THEY CAN USE THE EQUIPMENT YOUR JUST SAT ON DOING FA...They need to put some signs up or something. It happens every time I go..!!!! Need to change gyms soon..!!!!

Currently go to stalybridge gym etc. don’t even know where to begin! The fly machine parts are always broken with no replacement for weeks. The strange staff member with a scruffy beard is constantly hogging the duke box and putting noncy music on (bass hunter, high school musical, fuse odg). The internet is never working, they hoover around people at innapropriate times. I was on beck press and they decided to hoover around my head! Despite complaints, nothing has changed in 2 years. The place is a complete joke

Congleton gymetc is dirty, overcrowded and the members of staff are rude.

The staff on reception are always smiling and helpful sometimes in difficult circumstances when clients can be awkward. Special mention goes to Stevie who often goes above and beyond the call of duty

I am writing this review based on an awful experience earlier this year. I'm a care worker, and the children in our care would frequent Gym ETC quite regularly, always accompanied by two members of our staff. There would never be a problem, we'd always feel welcome. Except when Linda the Manager would be on the front desk. This woman goes out of her way to be difficult. You'd think that being a with a child in care as well as being regular customers that you'd be treated with some respect, tact, compassion. Nope. Not at all. Linda would always make things difficult when we'd arrive. This particular day, Linda accused our staff of lying about the child's age....for literally no reason at all. She contested that one of our staff was even a care worker, even after we proved so with identification and an accompanying email from our office. She demanded the child present identification, saying that it's policy with the gym. I explained that he didn't have ID and that we'd never had a problem before. At this point, Linda accused me of "probably intimidating" her staff in the past when she wasn't there. I told Linda that she'd now crossed a line. This accusation was as unjustified as it was ridiculous. Linda then told us to get of HER gym. I explained to her that it isn't HER gym, that's she's a manager....a terrible one at best. We all left very disappointed and felt let down. The child in our care hadn't left the house for 2 weeks, we'd finally managed to persuade him to come and relax in the spa area....take his mind off his troubles, help with his anxiety, depression and PTSD. This was disgustingly snatched away from him by a power crazy, cruel and cold hearted member of your staff. If you go through the reviews online, ask your customers and your staff (two of which were on the front desk witnessing this ordeal, who mouthed "sorry" to us as Linda was carrying on with her apalling rants).....you'll realise this was not an isolated incident.
We really love the gym, the facilities, the staff....this woman ruins it all.

I have been a member for 7 years & use to love going. Not anymore! It is not only way too busy with babies, childrens lessons & aqua on there is no room to swim. The changing rooms are so dirty now. I never see mopping or cleaning. Today there were shouting teachers in the pool, screaming babies, dirty tissues, & crisps on the floor & flooded floors. It is no longer enjoyable or relaxing. I have cancelled my membership & joined a much better & cleaner gym where you can actually swim!

If there was a 0 star. It would be. Got banned for no reason last year and was very mistreated. I’ve tried to escalate this further but there doesn’t seem to be anyone above manager level that can deal with it. Horrible people who are there and also very degrading. STAYLEY BRIDGE ETC MANAGEMENT ARE A JOKE. If your reading this fix up and get off your high horse

Congleton Gymetc spend a lot of time on social media showing glossy photographs of a tranquil swimming pool and spa facilities. The reality is:-
Broken tiles on the pool floor.
Dirty greasy tiles on and above the waterline.
Non observance or enforcement of suitable attire for mixed indoor pool area.
Persons getting into pool without showering, particularly from the Sauna and steam rooms.
Over subscription to Aqua Aerobics Classes with people being turned away.
On occasion more people in the class than the given number permitted.
Dirty and poorly maintained showers in the ladies changing rooms.
The Management of this establishment is sadly woeful.
On the plus side Gymetc does have 2 excellent Aqua Aerobics Instructors who are caring and thoroughly professional,
If you are looking for a water based Gym experience look elsewhere or at least try before buying

Gymetc need to listen to customer feedback. The swimming lessons are ruining the relaxing atmosphere of the spa and also makes getting changed or using the changing rooms at all completely stressful. Your club is not big enough to host so many lessons. Never used to be that bad. Every visit now I just come out more stressed. Cancelling my membership after this month.

Congleton. No interest in customer needs. Classes oversubscribed. Only way of finding out is by turning up and being turned away. No booking system. No contact possibilities. Some classes populated in excess of insurance coverage. Poor programme of classes which fail to meet customer needs. Regular cancellation of classes. Changing rooms inadequate, dirty and in need of rennovation. Lousy!

Gym Etc Leyland - I have always thought about changing gyms but I could never. Gym Etc Leyland for the price is outstanding, from the equipment to the staff.. incredible. I would also like to point out Ste is an absolute credit to the team always goes above and beyond to ensure your experience is on point.

Tired & run down gym at Leyland.. Cancelled as I wasn't using it as often as I thought & after 4 years membership & having to go into sign the cancellation form, I checked my bank & they'd taken £49.99 out of my account instead of the normal £29.99... No mention of this when filling in the form.. Disgusted.. It's probably hidden in the small print somewhere but I simply can't be arsed going back & reading it. Just glad to be shut of the place.. It's cheap for a reason folks.. So f I ever do join a gym again, I'll join a nice one.. Oh & don't put goggles on in the pool...you won't like what you see..
