Just got home after an investigation at Colchester Town Hall. What an amazing night with a superb team, Vicki, Phill and Evie were brilliant hosts. A warm welcome so knowledgeable and genuinely lovely helpful people. A wonderfully wide range of kit available to use during the evening too. Will definitely be coming out again! Thank you so much.

we did the cross keys at cannock last night, the location was really good, i already knew a lot about the location before i went, tbh the guides didnt know or mention any of the locations in the inn or this that had happened which was disappointing, we seemed to have picked a room upstairs and the cellar for no apparent reason other than theyre "active" i asked one of the guides if there was any history to the cellar? and she said she didn't know the history. the night was good, the last 45mins was shining a red torch into different peoples faces and they said the face would change to that of the spirit, it obviously didnt, and was ridiculous, it felt it left the evening on a low. i wish now id have asked to leave the room and just explore the inn while the others did that. but the evening was good for the money really but tweaking it would have been so much better. research the place, take the customers around.. this was seen here this was seen there etc..

I went to beer quarry caves and the experience start to finish I could not fault. It was me and my friends first time going ghost hunting, Paul and AJ from haunting nights were really good with us. We loved hearing other peoples stories too and experiences. The guy who told us the history of beer quarry caves was really knowledgable. Would highly recommend booking with haunting nights and can’t wait to do another one. X

The shadows of the Beer Quarry Caves seemed to swallow the flickering light as Willow, Lisa, and I ventured deeper into the ancient, subterranean labyrinth. Joining the ghost hunt hosted by the ever Fabulous team, Haunting Nights, the air grew noticeably colder, thick with centuries of heavy, unyielding history. We kept our eyes peeled against the darkness, half-expecting a spectral figure to materialize from the gloom, but the spirits themselves remained stubbornly hidden from view. Yet, the absence of visual apparitions did nothing to lessen the chilling atmosphere. Eager to try a different approach, we dabbled with a pair of dowsing rods. As I held the metal indicators loosely in my hands, a sudden, magnetic pull took over, overriding my own movements. The rods crossed violently, guiding me directly toward a somber, hollowed-out section of the cavern. It was the exact, tragic site where a historic roof collapse had claimed the lives of 47 quarrymen and a mere eight-year-old child. Standing on the ground where they had passed away, a heavy stillness settled over the three of us. Just as the weight of the discovery sank in, the silence of the cave fractured. We all froze, experiencing a series of faint, inexplicable auditory sounds—a low, rhythmic scraping or tapping and a distant, phantom whistle that seemed to echo directly out of the solid stone walls. There were no ghosts to see, but in that subterranean dark, the past made sure it was heard.

We highly recommend seeing this special place and we’ll definitely be going back. Haunting Nights are a fantastic team and make everyone feel welcome. We will definitely book more events with them.

The Beer Quarry Caves are a massive, man-made underground complex of limestone caverns located near the village of Beer in East Devon, with a history spanning nearly 2,000 years.

History and Famous Uses:
Ancient Origins:
Quarrying began under the Romans shortly after their invasion in 43 AD.

The "Underground Cathedral":
Centuries of hand-carving by candlelight created vast halls with soaring vaulted roofs and massive square stone pillars.

Famous Stone:
The caves are the primary source of Beer Stone, a creamy-white, fine-grained limestone that is soft when cut but hardens upon exposure to air.

Iconic Landmarks:
Beer Stone was used to build 24 cathedrals (including Exeter, Winchester, and St Paul’s), Westminster Abbey, and the base of the white tower at the Tower of London.

Secret Chapels and Smugglers:
During the 16th-century Reformation, parts of the caves served as hidden underground Catholic chapels for illegal services, and later as a hiding spot for smugglers.

Environment and WildlifeConstant Climate:
The subterranean temperature stays at a chilly 7°C to 9°C (48°F) year-round, meaning warm clothing like fleeces or coats are needed even in summer.

Bat Sanctuary:
The caves are a protected Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a crucial winter hibernation site (hibernaculum) for rare bat species, including Greater and Lesser Horseshoe

Had a fantastic night with the Team Vicki, Phill and Evie at Red Lion Hotel. 100% would recommend. This was my 1st time doing anything like this, my best mate asked if I would try it and we have definitely discovered a new hobby. It was also really nice meeting the other people as it was their 1st time as well. We have already booked the next one in Colchester Town Hall. Thanks again guys.

Booked a night at the Red Lion Hotel in Colchester with Vicky, Phill & Evie and it was great, completely surpassed my expectations. Being neither a believer or a sceptic, and more interested in having a unique experience, I found the team very kind, respectful and informative, and not sensationalist or performative like I had worried!

The whole night was interesting - several events I couldn't explain fully occured over the course of the evening and the team always tried to find a reasonable answer before attributing things to the supernatural, and I found that the 6 hours passed really comfortably and quickly. The whole team were very accommodating, professional, and elevated the experience from good to great.

Highly recommend to anyone, and thanks again.

Phill and Vicki were incredibly professional and kind, did not hesitate to accomodate for my reduced mobility, and offered an interesting experience without any need to resort to extreme theatrics or superfluous tricks - a solid, well-explained investigation and a welcoming ambiance that made the six hours feel perhaps even a little short.

Would definitely reccommend for people who want to explore this side of life, and the other, without worrying about being led by people only interested in cheap thrills - but with the guidance and dedication of those truly interested and open.

P. S. Evie was also very professional and a pleasure to have around, and I think she completed the team really well - I would not be surprised to see her in a more official position later on.

I must say this was my first experience on a Ghost hunt and something I’ve been wanting to do for a while so me and my best mate Ben decided to book the Red Lion in Cholchester and what a blast we had, super friendly hosts big thanks to Vicki , Phil and Evie for making our experience epic and exciting, we had a lot of activity with the spirits of Saturday night and we even got to use all of the proper kit to do our own vigil, we had lots of hot and cold drinks and some lovely snacks, crisps and biscuits to keep us going ,we met some really lovely people who were also doing the same as us. Can’t wait to book the next one thanks again guys 👻👻👻

Just want to say what great night we had at Ripon workhouse and jail. first time with you guys my friend booked for us . been with many other companies and have to say im impressed with the organisation of the event no long intro just about respecting the buildings and others. What i did love is the knowledge that the host had telling us how the equipment works why we use them the theorys behind all the experiments we did and the origins . plus bit of history as we went about the jail and workhouse my favourite was the scrying very weird . love the fact we got our own time to investigate and allowed to use the equipment. we got some activity but not a lot but was still very fasicinating night time just flew over could stayed all night
thanks to the 3 host all very lovely and approachable and thanks to Dave who answered all my questions .

This was my first time attending a paranormal event, and I absolutely loved it! I really enjoyed the whole experience and learned so much along the way. The team from Haunting Nights were lovely, friendly, and really good at explaining everything, which made the experience even better.

I would definitely recommend this company to anyone interested in paranormal events, whether it’s your first time or not. I had a great time and would definitely book with Haunting Nights again!

An amazing and well-organised ghost hunt; the whole team (Amy, Steven, and Bruce the Dog) were very welcoming and friendly. This was my first ghost hunt with Haunting Nights, and I will certainly be booking more with them. Such a great night — thank you!

We very much enjoyed our evening, I was a none believer however after some spooky unexplained things happening, I think I might now believe in ghosts! The hosts were great. Certainly recommend this company to anyone wanting to give ghost hunting a go.
