Hired a van for a simple task, on arrival the van was very dirty inside and the previous user had left lots of rubbish in the back that I now had to try and get rid of. Hertz said they will recover the costs from the prevous customer! I am still left with the contents to dispose of!!!! I recived a £5 discount. No fuel card and the tank was under 1/4, advisor informed me fillup and email the receipt we will refund the money. hey quess what, no refund. In principal this is a great way to get a short term hire van, however its starting to appear more of a scam that Trading Standards need to investigate. For post hire issues they don't have a phone number and don't want to talk to you, you have to email!. There is never a reply so I expect I will never see a refund for the fuel. Appears more of a scam that you have to put fuel in or your left with a can you cant drive, then Hertz charge you again for using the fuel? pay twice. I responed to the customer satisfaction survey (they take feedback seriously???), and I have not recived any response. My advice, avoid as they will charge you everything but dont deliver what they advertise. Disapointing, frustrating experience from one of the large UK fleet hire companies you should be able to trust.

I would give a big fat zero if I could.. do not use as this company is a scam, they try to charge you two years after a one off hire at IKEA 2019. They use the pretext of membership fee to con unsuspecting clients. Shame on you. They are also trying to threaten me with debt collectors and refusing to cancel membership... avoid at all costs.

No code to get in the vehicle, spent ages trying to get through to someone to find out more. Once I finally got through they said they’d refund me but only sent me half. Would definitely avoid, will not be using again.

I would give a -5 if it was possible. Not sure if this is scam, or just Hertz ripping me off. I hired a Van 12 months ago using my credit card on their website, and now 12months later they are charging me again. Yet I have not booked a van, or used their site or app since. I logged onto the site today, and it won't let me delete my payment card details. Add to that the delete my account button, oddly does not work, it just times out. Avoid, Avoid, Avoid, this company.

I have never seen such a useless app. The company tricks you into buying a membership and then just cancels your bookings without a reason. They do not even notify you, that they cancelled the booking. They just do. You have to find out yourself. I would never ever use this company again

Website is awful and took several attempts to book

Booked a van for 4 hours for £59 five mins before hire still Hadn’t received pin details
For van and my seller cancelled the collection of Item so cancelled the hire before the start time

Charged me £104 hire for full 24 hour hire of can when was only booked for 4 hours tried to call To speak to an agent don’t get no answer so lost £104 for nothing.

But to be charged for 24 hour hire is a joke especially when they never provided access to the van in the first place

If I could give -1,000,000 stars I would! Tried to rent a van from IKEA Manchester after ordering £800 of furniture, fly through the registration process, take my £3 membership fee (which is a bit snakey but it’s okay £3) so I go outside to the vans 2 mins before my rental was due to start (like the txt message said to do)…in the rain…. Only to get a txt message 5 minutes later being told my account wasn’t active and membership was declined! IKEA closed at 9pm…. The time was 9:03pm….tried to call the contact centre, about as useful as a cock flavoured lollipop. Told me the address I registered was different to my license…. Which it wasn’t, so I gave him an alternative address… the guy processed it…. Registration failed again…. In the end I phoned a local man and van who did it for the same price it would have cost, absolute shambles of a company and I genuinely hope it goes bust

Only given 1 star as couldn’t give a minus!! Confirmed my booking & took their £3 only to tell me the next day the booking was cancelled. Didn’t refund the £3 - despite the low amount it’s the principle here & I can see I’m not alone - absolutely shocking company!!

Introducing a yearly £3 membership fee to members who signed up when there was no cost and no mention of any cost is at best a dodgy business practice, no cooling off period.. They just charge you and tell you its non refundable will no longer be using them out of principle

Applying a £3 membership fee to all past customers is very dodgy. Why not phase it in so when someone hires they have to pay there and then and be told about the fee? That way people have a choice about whether they hire with you or not.
When you combine the fee with the shocking customer service I have had from various Hertz outlets (Paris and Spain are 2 memories of shocking service that spring to mind) it makes hiring from you even more unappealing

Needed to extend 1 day - midsize vehicle nothing fancy. Rate went from reasonable to > $500 more (for one day extension). Could not reach anyone by phone. Called local office 12 times with no answer. Worst rental company I have had in years. Throwing my gold card away.

The vehicle was covered in damage however this did not bother me. What did bother me was the stench of wet dog, the dog hair and dried slobber all over the seats and dash and the cannabis in the footwell. I suffer a pet hair allergy and so was in pain and wheezing for most of the day - which was hard enough as I was moving house. To add to this I then had to visit a police station to hand in the cannabis. Overall I am really unimpressed and they made a hard day a lot more stressful. I tried to contact Hertz 24/7 to make them aware of all of this, along with the extra payment they took from me, but they don't reply.

My last experience with Hertz 24/7 Costco Reading has cost me more than agreed, I hired the van for 4 hours, at a cost of £72, two days later I find that they've taken a further £47 with no invoice or explanation, its cheaper to hire a van for a whole day.

Terrible experience, won't be using them again.
They cancelled my booking 30 minutes before I was meant to start my trip, due to am issue with my address that they did not try to rectify with myself. I called up and sorted the issue, which was then resolved for then another issue to crop up 30 minutes later. I ended up waiting by the van trying to call their customer service line for 45 minutes, one call was a really bad line on their end so I had to hang up as I couldn't hear them, and the 2nd picked up and hung up straight away, only when I rang a third time I was able to have my issue dealt with.
As I had to rebook the monies where then taken twice and I still have not received a refund for the first payment 5 days on. On calling to ask for it to be issued, I was told to email in, to which their reply was a refund can take up to 30 days. I've never had refunds take this long before and am slightly concerned the 30days will come and go with no refund.
Overall, terrible experience and very overpriced for what it is.

The actual van rental part went ok, however it is everything afterwards that is terrrible. Got a notification of my account being renewed for the next year coming up unless I cancelled, I cancelled it. It still got renewed. Emailed Customer Service for them to help resolve to be told to do exactly what I had already done. Silence is met when asking when I can expect a refund.

Currently I am in a situation where I have zero faith it won't be renewed again and doubt i will ever see the money back. Avoid.

I got money back in the end but was a slow and more painful process than it needed to be.

Service was poor. No time keeping and rather charged over time. My time that i kept waiting for the van to arrive over my booking time is not respected rather i was charged double. For a simple task Of half an hour, i wasted my 2 and half hours and yet charged double. Wouldnt recommend, rather hire a man with van who could also give you a hand with moving stuff out of the van.

After the second "excess rental charge" it has dawned on me that the clock in the van is slower than the time they register the hire as. Unless you arrive back very early you'll be penalised.
They also filed for bankruptcy last year so best to avoid.
I have told them to cancel my account. Vans are filthy, drive badly so probably having parts stolen from them, and then you get ripped off with fake excess hours charges

Avoid at all costs. Hired a van 2 weeks ago. Paid for the service no problem. Then I discovered last night they have taken a payment from my account of £130 without any reason, or my authorisation.

I have tried several times to contact them with no response.
