Went to Hillier’s yesterday the food was aweful
As always best attempt a school lunch overpriced for poor quality cold food ! The staff are always miserable never friendly miserable members of staff! The lady on the gate is like a prison officer even when you just want to go for coffee!
Never again !

Went to Hilliers in Ruislip today for some pot plants and compost. Although I found what I was looking for the atmosphere in the garden centre is dismal. There were more staff than customers and prices high compared to other garden centers. With the absence of the cafe that the previous owners had, there is really no incentive to go there. We would often go along for plants and have lunch or a snack and the atmosphere was lovely and the place busy. Now staff seem bored and the place looks unloved. There are more homeware offerings than plants etc and very expensive. Will not be going back

Excellent customer service at Cheddar Garden Centre. Staff always friendly and helpful. They knowledge you with thank you, even if you haven't purchased.

Took my daughter and grandchildren for a meal for a treat. Unfortunately it was quite disappointing. We waited half an hour for our food before inquiring about it.
The food was brought a few minutes later without the chips we had ordered. My grandson had almost finished his burger before the chips arrived and they were so hot we couldn’t eat them straight away.

We went today as an early Birthday present for my mum to Aldermaston. We had one Savoury and one Sweet version. The sandwiches were a let down as the fillings were great but the bread was dry edged and a big let down as the fillings ‘matched the size of the bread and were tasty. The scones both sweet and savoury were lovely and ‘felt fresh’. The cream cheese for savoury tastes bland and needed something to ‘pep’ it up I.E. Goats Cheese or Feta mixed in maybe. The Sausage rolls had minimal tasteless filling and felt like just half of processed ones. Quiche was a bit mushy
Staff were friendly and helpful but scruffy

I took my Mum for an afternoon tea in the restaurant at the Marlow garden centre today which certainly didn't disappoint. There was a lovely selection of fresh sweet and savory treats. The staff were so friendly and helpful which added to an amazing experience. I would highly recommend, and likely experience it again.

The staff at Hillier Sunningdale are always very friendly and helpful. Unlike some centres they are never too busy to give advice, chat about products,help with heavy items or give an individualised customer experience. Today two of the cafe team provided a cooling alternative to a hot chocolate for my daughter who doesn’t drink tea or coffee. We also chatted to a lady clearing tables who smiled as she worked - the manager! Simple gestures much appreciated. Thank you.

My wife went to the store near Hailsham today at 10am to buy four lanterns with a sign saying reduced to £20. When she got to the till she was told to wait until 10.30am as it was browsing time (Sunday). She added more things to her trolly about £130. worth. At 10:30am she went to pay to be told the lanterns were £30 each, she told them they were on offer, someone went to check and informed her the discounted ones were grey and she had copper in her trolly. Grey were out of stock, the sign was still there. The shop fails to price many goods on the shelves. At Christmas they had a big sign saying all light up decorations of a particular brand were half price. We asked if we could have the large Reindeer but then told the offer did not apply to them despite being the same brand and the notice not stating this. My wife left the store in near tears and told them to cancel all her purchases. Avoid this store, absolutely disgraceful, we are tearing up our Hillier card after many years as a customer.

The Hillier website is not fit for purpose, it's slow and clunky - surely in this day and age they could ensure its user friendly and up to date.

Had occasion to have an afternoon tea experience at their Liss branch. From start to finish it was lovely. Welcomed by Kirsty and another staff member warmly and with good humour, having already set a table for us as we had pre booked. The service, food and setting was really nice, and the staff genuinely couldn’t have been more kind or helpful. A really nice visit and one we will repeat. Thanks you!

If I need advice about plants the garden staff are very knowledgeable.

Serious failure in their of Duty of Care after my toddler was injured by a dangerously placed cacti display at the Newbury branch - less than a foot off the floor! No staff offered to help as I was pulling hundreds of tiny barbed spikes from her hand whilst she was crying in pain. Finally after about 10 minutes a kind member of staff actually came to help, however no incident report was completed by Hilliers and our details were not taken at the time!

Days later the display was still in the same dangerous position despite staff agreeing it should be moved. Only after I had submitted a formal complaint was the display raised, but still within reach to small children might I add, and a small sign placed which purely relies on visitors reading ability and does not show any visible type of warning. After addressing further concerns, to my disgust Hilliers’ response is that the display now meets their “required safety standards” - but simply meeting the minimum requirements does not equate to a safe environment.

They claim to take safety of all visitors very seriously but from our experience I am absolutely appalled by their lack of care and failure to comply to basic health and safety standards - especially after a child has been injured in their store!

On a visit to your restaurant on Wednesday 1st july,my friends and I were having cream teas. While we were paying for our teas the lady beside us dropped her tray. This sent boiling tea all over the floor,and it must of hit her legs. The cashier (joy)rather than helping her just said I can't do anything I'm serving you!!!!
Then a young girl came from the back to help.
Where has customer service gone?
Not to mention health and safety.
I also asked the lady getting the teas if I could change my tea for a fruit tea, she snapped back That would be at full price!
Really it's only a tea bag.
She could of said it was not included in the cream tea price.
More training needed.
I won't be returning anytime soon.

This is no reflection on the Garden Centre.
They are always helpful.

I use Hilliers in Botley quite frequently and today they went above and beyond to help me with an issue I had with a bird bath I bought 3 years ago Heidi and Rob sorted everything out with great efficiency communication from Heidi was perfect

Restaurant is terrible. We waited one hour forty minutes for cold food, the aircon was not turned on a hot day in June, nobody communicated with us about any problems, I had to go find the manager to complain

Visited the cafe at the chievely branch and was told there was no dogs allowed after we sat down. I asked if there was any under cover seating to just be told “no”
I asked if there was anywhere dry to sit to which she said no it’s just outside.

Not an offer to wipe the tables, or to put the umbrella up, or even to give up tissue to wipe it ourselves, nothing.

I will be going public about this.

Hillier’s website is incredibly slow and it’s very frustrating
and I leave the site and shop elsewhere. I’ve been experiencing this for a long time and it’s about time they fixed their website to make it user friendly!

Ordered furniture and was told it would arrive at a specific date then it was rearranged then was notified that it had been attempted on a date and time there where people home in both addresses so definitely wasn’t attempted called and chased to find out what was going on and was told the actual stores themself can’t help and we would need to speak to the warehouse spoke to the warehouse who said they could either redeliver or we can collect we choose to collect then without any notice I had a notification from my bank saying the money we paid for the furniture is being refunded but no communication from them To say it’s been refunded or anything they pride themselves on customer satisfaction but there’s been no communication at all will never order from them again

Not very accessible for the older generation especially the cafe which is in dire need of an update. Sunny day when visited and was told no pets in the seating area so we had to sit outside for our lunch without shade …I would call that being victimised for owning a dog. Several customers complained whilst we were there with the same problem.

My daughter treated me to a cream tea at Hilliers restaurant in Horsham. From start to finish the staff were excellent. The food was fantastic and plenty of it. I would definitely recommend having a cream tea or meal there.
