I recently returned from an incredible solo trip to South Africa planned with Celeste at Icon Expeditions, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about both the trip and the care Celeste put into making it special.

This was a big trip for me, spanning Johannesburg, a safari in the Sabi Sand, Cape Town, and the Winelands. It also happened to fall over my 40th birthday, so I wanted it to feel special, luxurious, adventurous, and very "South Africa." Celeste absolutely understood the assignment.

Some of the experiences were truly once-in-a-lifetime. Londolozi was extraordinary and easily one of the best travel experiences I have ever had. La Residence in Franschhoek was spectacular and made my birthday unforgettable. I loved my time at Blackheath Lodge in Cape Town, my private tours with Aurum Africa, and my Table Mountain hike with Mother City Hikers. The entire trip was filled with beautiful properties, wonderful people, incredible food and wine, wildlife, scenery, and experiences I will remember forever.

What really stood out were all the thoughtful details Celeste added along the way. She made sure the hotels and properties knew I was celebrating my 40th birthday and that this was an important trip for me. There were sweet birthday gifts and surprises waiting for me, and little touches throughout the itinerary that made me feel genuinely looked after rather than like just another booking.

She was also incredibly accessible while I was traveling. Plans inevitably change on a multi-week international trip, and Celeste was responsive and helpful whenever I needed something adjusted. She was coordinating behind the scenes, checking in, and making sure everything ran as smoothly as possible.

I did have one less-than-ideal experience at one property during the trip, and this is where I really appreciated having Celeste in my corner. She immediately helped me rearrange my plans, continued advocating for me after I returned home, took my concerns back to management, and ultimately secured a very fair resolution and refund on my behalf. Things don't always go perfectly when you travel, and knowing your travel advisor will actually stand behind you when something goes wrong is incredibly valuable.

Looking back at the trip as a whole, it was absolutely phenomenal. South Africa completely stole my heart, and so many of my favorite memories came from experiences Celeste and Icon helped put together.

I would happily work with Celeste again, and when I inevitably return to South Africa, Icon Expeditions will absolutely be part of that conversation.

Thank you, Celeste, for the planning, the thoughtful birthday touches, the countless little details, the support throughout my travels, and for making sure I was taken care of from beginning to end. It was an unforgettable way to celebrate 40!

My wife and I have just returned from a trip to South Africa planned by the wonderful Janine at Icon Expeditions.
This is the first time, we have trusted planning a trip with an external company and we got really lucky! Janine was wonderful, responsive, her attention to detail was outstanding and when we had an issue, she fixed it for us straight away, which was amazing service.
We would highly recommend her to anyone, and we will definitely be using her again for our next trip to Africa.

This is our 3rd time using Icon Expedition to plan an African safari. Each trip we had different locations, trip planners, and budgets, and each time we have been pleased. This most recent trip Daisy planned. We gave more input after learning things from previous trips and she was patient and thorough with us and our questions and requests. Our trip was 5 nights in Rwanda for Gorilla and golden monkey trekking, and 6 nights in Kenya to see the migration. Daisy planned the trip including seamless transfers and handlers from airport gate to airport gate. We were well taken care of. She let us know which vaccinations we needed and gave us info on necessary visas. We would of course use Icon again (and Daisy).

We cannot thank Desire with Icon Expeditions /Rhino Africa enough for planning our dream trip to South Africa! It was “magical”… From start to finish, the experience was seamless, stress-free, and truly beyond anything we could have imagined.
After spending over a year booking and waiting for this amazing adventure, we have just recently returned and can’t stop talking about when we are going back. This experience that will stay with us for a lifetime!

Our trip was flawlessly planned by our incredible travel agent, Desire. She took the time to understand exactly what we wanted, quickly answered all my questions & emails, and helped us craft an itinerary that exceeded every expectation. The accommodations, excursions, and transfers were all flawlessly arranged, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the magic of each destination without a single worry.
Desire curated the perfect two-week itinerary for us, including 4 nights in Cape Town at Camissa House (and amazing full day tours including the Winelands) , 4 nights at Londolozi in Sabi Sands (Heaven on earth), and 2 nights in Victoria Falls along the Zambezi River (including helicopter over Victoria Falls). From the moment we landed in South Africa, until our departure home from Zimbabwe, every single logistical detail was perfectly handled. The locations selected for us were impeccable, each with amazing staff who made us feel welcome and cared for.

Desire is 10/10 and a rockstar at what she does and even better that she is in Cape Town and her love of Africa! If you’re looking for someone to design the ultimate safari experience, look no further.
We will absolutely be booking with Des and Icon Expeditions again sooner than later – we can’t wait to go back to South Africa.

Our 2 weeks trip in South Africa was absolutely wonderful ! We had high expectations and these were surpassed :-)

Everything was great, the locations, the people, nature, food, the hotels we stayed in.. one of, if not the very best trip we ever made.
Alexandra has been just perfect in putting this together, her suggestions were excellent, she listened to us and organised everything very professionnaly.

We had the most amazing adventure in Africa. Bianca helped us build a brilliant itinerary. One that we would've never figured out on our own. On a big trip like this, there are bound to be some logistical challenges, and Bianca was there every step of the way to help.
