We started our downstairs flooring replacement project without much idea where it would lead. We knew blending the kitchen, hallway, and foyer together wouldn't be easy. With so many choices we were pleased with the eager help our design specialist Jeane Salter provided us with. She made several trips to our house to show a variety of samples and offer suggestions, always listening to us to help us be sure we were getting what we wanted.
The installation crew did an excellent job and were able to efficiently handle any problems that arose. From start to finish Independent Carpet provided us with the quality job we were looking for.

I am a die hard Tiger fan so have seen Independent Carpet One commercials watching televised games! It was time for new carpet so went to the store to see if their products and service were as inviting as their ads & I was not disappointed! From the moment I walked into their beautiful showroom until actual installation, it was a fabulous, fun experience! Everyone was welcoming, professional, positive and helpful! The quality & color range of carpet available was incredible. Janet D'Ascenzo, design coordinator, guided me through the recommended best products for my needs. Samples were provided to take home; Installers Jack and Alan did a great job! they spent time to explain how they would cover the stairs and made helpful suggestions/recommendations. Two hard working guys! From the time my order was placed to actual installation was 2 weeks! And the real bonus was to meet owner Cathy Buchanan! She and her staff are kind, friendly and make you feel like you are working with family. I also was lucky enough to win Tigers tickets, too! What a finish to an amazing experience. Selecting carpet can be daunting and expensive investment for your home, but Independent Carpet One makes it easy!
I give them 6 stars for their professionalism, quality and good old fashioned customer service! THANKS everyone!

John, Jack and Allen Phillips were awesome. They were prompt, polite and did an excellent clean up job. They would alsways inform me when they were leaving for lunch or for the day.

After months of interior work on our Garden City house we were getting ready to FINALLY sell. We had a few more things to do before listing-and according to my Realtor, we need to list NOW before the spring rush.
Getting the block windows installed, and carpet for the family room were the last hurdles. No problem, the glass blocks were ordered in January and installer was scheduled for next Friday- CHECK. Carpet- no problem, I just saw a commercial for carpet 'the next day'- perfect! Well, that was not the case. It only applies to in stock carpet and AFTER the measurements were submitted. You can wait a week or more to get the measurements! Can't risk this run around.
Enter Cathy and Jason from Independent Carpet One in Westland. In a matter of two emails on Thursday explaining our dilemma, Jason was able to get their measure man, Tom, over to the house by 9:30 Saturday morning, two days after contact. Saturday afternoon, with measurements in hand, Jason lead us to their expansive warehouse that is onsite where my wife was able to pick out an outstanding candidate that fit the room. It was a little more money and quality than one would lay down on a house they are SELLING, but it fit our square footage and new wall color so well, we figured it was well worth the cost.
Now with carpet picked out (at closing time mind you), Jason leaned on the install crew and was able to squeeze in our carpet install the following Friday (glass block day). The crew was on time and courteous, and went above and beyond to satisfy our needs.

Bottom line. From first contact to install, Independent Carpet One had our carpet in the house in 8 days.

Lesson Learned; Spend your money locally, because it's local business like Independent Carpet One in Westland that really care and will come thru when you're in a bind. We will be back but not in panic mode!

As young newlyweds my husband and I knew carpet would not be cheap but after visiting 3 different stores were in sticker shock. They did all that could be done when the original carpet in one of the rooms didn't turn out right due to a manufacturing error. They had the manufacturer make a new carpet and it looks great.

Bob is trustworthy and treats everyone like family. All the sales staff are patient and do not put pressure on you to buy. I have sent family and friends here for years as well as use them for my personal and rental home needs. Give them a try and you won't go anywhere else.
