Excellent Value and Outstanding Support for a Solo Female Traveler

As a solo female traveler, I would like to share my experience with the Istanbul Tourist Pass because it may help someone when making a decision.

I used it on March 16, 2026, for just one day, and even though I explored everything at my own slow pace, without rushing from place to place, I still managed to see and experience a lot. For me, the pass proved to be completely worth it.

Before buying it, I looked into other options as well, but after quite a lot of comparing, I chose the Istanbul Tourist Pass and I did not regret it. What I understood, and what I can now confirm as a user, is that it is especially important to have a good plan, calculate your transfer times realistically, make your reservations on time, and not be late. Once that part is done, everything else works very smoothly and easily.

My choices for that day were breakfast on Le Vapeur Magique, Topkapi Palace with the Harem, Galata Tower, and the evening Bosphorus cruise with dinner and Turkish entertainment on Tosunpaşa. Everything went smoothly and exactly according to the instructions in the app.

What I especially want to highlight is the kindness and attention I experienced throughout the day. On Le Vapeur Magique, my phone battery died, so I asked the staff for help. They took my phone to charge it, found me on the guest list, and seated me by the window. At Topkapi, they kindly helped me set up the audio guide, and at Galata everything was simple, punctual, and well organized.

On the evening cruise on Tosunpaşa, as a woman traveling solo, I was treated with great care. They allowed me to board earlier, offered me hot tea, and seated me at a window table so I would not be sitting alone among couples and groups. What perhaps meant the most to me was that Istanbul Tourist Pass support even called me when I did not appear at the agreed meeting point, not knowing that I had already boarded earlier. That feeling of care and attention was truly priceless to me.

In my estimate, the savings for one day across these four experiences were around 50 euros. But even more valuable than the money saved was the feeling that, as a solo female traveler, nowhere did I feel like just a number, and nowhere did I feel alone.

That is why I can sincerely recommend the Istanbul Tourist Pass, especially to those who appreciate good organization, clear instructions, and the feeling that there is a team behind it that truly cares about its guests.

Looks good on paper, disappointing in reality – misleading and inflexible

I bought the 5-Day Istanbul Tourist Pass because the website sells a dream:
phrases like “One Pass – All Istanbul” and “Instant free entry to 100+ attractions” clearly create the impression that, within those 5 days, you can freely choose from a huge range of attractions and that the only real limit is your time.

The reality is very different.

Only after paying did I discover that the pass is restricted by a credit system and by limited availability / advance bookings. That radically changes how the product works in practice. I wanted to visit around 25 attractions during my stay. Because of credits and capacity limits, I could only do about half of what I had planned, even though I had a 5‑day pass and was actively trying to use it.

When I raised this with Istanbul Tourist Pass, their answer was basically:
“Look, you saved over 40% compared to our listed individual prices, so everything is fine.”

This completely misses the point:

I would never have bought all of these attractions separately at the inflated “standard prices” they use in their calculation.

The “40% saving” is a theoretical number, based on a basket I did not choose freely and on prices that are higher than what many people can find online.

What I actually paid for, based on their marketing, was the freedom to choose from many attractions, not to be forced into a specific combination just so the math looks good in their favour.

In my case, the main loss is not money, but lost opportunities:
I came to Istanbul ready to explore a lot more, but the pass structure (credits + fully booked attractions + required advance reservations) simply did not allow me to visit everything I reasonably expected to be able to see with a “5-Day, 100+ attractions” pass.

What bothers me most is that the company does not show any recognition of this problem. They don’t acknowledge that the marketing can mislead people into thinking this is a near “all-you-can-visit” product. They just repeat the same argument about how much I “saved” on the subset of attractions I managed to access.

If you are the kind of traveler who wants flexibility and real choice, be very careful:

Read all the small print about credits and booking requirements before you buy.

Don’t assume that “One Pass – All Istanbul” means what it sounds like.

And don’t expect much understanding from customer service if you feel the product did not match the expectations their own marketing created.

Istanbul is amazing and worth visiting – but I would not choose this pass again.

Der Istanbul Pass war für uns eine…Katastrophe

Der Istanbul Pass war für uns eine große Enttäuschung und reine Geldverschwendung.
Nur eine App und ausschließlich auf Englisch.
Für uns war das sehr unpraktisch, da wir keine Englischkenntnisse haben.
Zugang zu wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten nur mit Reservierung und meist nur mit Guide!!!!!
Man ist an feste Zeiten gebunden und muss oft auf geführte Touren warten!!!!!
Ohne Guide kommt man bei vielen Attraktionen gar nicht rein.
Während Besucher ohne Pass direkt reingehen, steht man mit Pass und wartet – enorme Zeitverschwendung.
Bei jeder Reservierung muss eine ID-Nummer, Vor- und Nachname angegeben werden.
Das ist sehr nervig und zeitaufwendig!!!
Bei uns hat das System mehrfach nicht funktioniert.
Ohne QR-Code kein Einlass – selbst wenn man einen gültigen Pass hat.
Schlechter Support und keine Kulanz.
Viele Touren beginnen bereits um 9 Uhr, aber bei Problemen wird einem erst ab 9 Uhr geholfen – also zu spät.
Als Antwort bekommt man nur Standardtexte wie:
„Es kann sein, dass sich Ihre Passdaten geändert haben und Sie sich nicht aus der App ausgeloggt haben…“
Danach eine Entschuldigung – keine Erstattung, keine Alternative, nichts.
Besonders ärgerlich:
Wir hatten eine Bosporus-Fahrt mit Frühstück geplant.
Wir sind sehr früh vom Hotel zum angegebenen Treffpunkt gefahren – das Boot war nicht da.
Von 8:25 bis 10:00 Uhr haben wir mit dem Management geschrieben.
Am Ende hieß es nur: „Sie haben nicht reserviert.“
Ergebnis: Boot verpasst, Frühstück im Hotel verpasst, sehr viel Zeit verloren.
Fazit:
Für uns absolute Geldverschwendung.
Unsere ehrliche Empfehlung:
Kauft die Eintrittskarten für Attraktionen selbst und organisiert euch unabhängig.
So spart ihr Zeit, Nerven und Ärger.
⭐️ Nicht empfehlenswert.

The mobile app is currently available in English only, which is clearly stated before purchase. However, modern smartphones provide built-in automatic translation tools, and all essential pass details and booking confirmations are also sent by email. Throughout your stay, our team did its best to assist you whenever support was requested.

Reservations and guided access are not restrictions created by the Istanbul Tourist Pass. Many of Istanbul’s major attractions operate exclusively with time slots or guided entry regardless of how tickets are purchased. These requirements are set by the attraction authorities due to capacity, security, and crowd control regulations and are clearly indicated in advance.

The entry process using QR codes is the official and mandatory method required by attraction operators. Without a QR code, entry is not permitted—this applies equally to pass holders and individual ticket buyers. When technical issues occur, our support team follows standard troubleshooting steps to resolve them as efficiently as possible.

Regarding support hours, our live assistance starts at 09:00, which is transparently communicated before purchase. Outside these hours, guests can still access their passes, emails, and self-service booking tools.

For the Bosphorus Breakfast Cruise, a confirmed reservation is required, as clearly stated in the activity details. Without a completed reservation, boarding cannot be guaranteed. We understand the frustration caused by missed plans; however, participation without a reservation is unfortunately not possible.

The Istanbul Tourist Pass is designed for travelers who prefer planned access, reserved entry, and guided experiences. For guests who wish to remain fully spontaneous and avoid time slots or reservations, purchasing individual tickets may be a more suitable option.

We regret that this service was not the right fit for your travel style. Skip the queue but at given times. Topkapi does not include harem

My friend and I used this Pass and it honestly transformed our trip. In a chaotic city like Istanbul, their clear instructions, quick WhatsApp replies, and friendly hosts made everything feel calm and easy. We walked right into Hagia Sophia and Topkapı without the long waits, then even squeezed a sunset cruise into our last evening, best decision of the trip. I’m writing to thank the team personally: you saved us time, stress, and a few arguments. We saw more, worried less, and enjoyed the city the way we hoped to. Highly recommended.

Easy to use and very convenient

I used this pass during my stay in Istanbul and it worked very well. Most attractions accepted the QR code with no problem. I liked how I could visit museums without standing in line. Also, customer support answered my questions quickly on WhatsApp. It saved me both time and money.

muss man sich genau überlegen...

Dass der Pass auf einem Credit-System basiert, wurde ausgiebig beschrieben und hat bei uns gut funktioniert; wir haben in 3 Tagen fast alles gesehen, was wir wollten. Aber nun zu den einzelnen Aktivitäten:
Golden Horn & Bosphorus Cruise:
wir sind nur den Bosphorus entlang, nicht ins Golden Horn; der Audio Guide ist quatsch, da man nie weiß, wo man ist. Es gibt ein paar Ansagen an Bord, aber auch die sind eher schlecht. Tour war aber wegen der Aussicht schön.
Bosphorus Dinner Cruise with Shows:
nette Atmosphäre (Skyline bei Nacht), aber die Shows sind abhängig vom Sitzplatz eher schlecht zu sehen, werden nicht beschrieben und sind jeweils nur ca. 2 min lang. Essen mittelmäßig.
Blue Mosque Guided Tour:
der absolute Witz: wir haben ca. 30 min angestanden; drinnen hat uns der Guide 3 min etwas erzählt, dann sollten wir schon wieder raus (wenn wir uns länger umgucken wollten, sollten wir doch alleine wieder kommen, der Eintritt ist ja frei); dann wollte er lieber draußen und auf dem Hippodrom noch etwas erzählen - wir haben die Gruppe verlassen und uns in Ruhe umgesehen;
Hagia Sophia Guided Tour:
hier war alles prima und der Guide hat viel erzählt;
Basislica Cistern Guided Tour:
hier war ebenfalls alles prima, der Guide (gleicher wie in Hagia Sophia) hat sich zwar kurz nach dem Einlaß und 5 min Erzählung entfernt, aber mehr gab es da auch nicht sagen und wir konnten uns in Ruhe umgucken.
Topkapi Palace Guided Tour:
auch dieser Besuch war gut und der Guide hat uns einiges erzählt, bis wir dann auf eigene Erkundungstour gehen konnten;
Dolmabahce Palace Museum:
Skip-the-Line gab es insofern nicht, da alle erst durch die Taschekontrolle mussten und dann vor dem Ticketschalter keine Schlange mehr war; Audio-Guide ist ein anderer als der, den man dort erwerben konnte - und war sehr oberflächlich; Palast aber sehr sehenswert;
Beylerbeyi Palace Museum:
das gleiche wie bei Dolmabahce
Galata Tower Hosted Entry:
das war der Aufreger überhaupt; wir waren schon einige Zeit vor dem Treffpunkt da, warteten also 20 min, bis der Guide kam, der wartete dann noch 20 min, bis alle anderen da waren - und dann sollten wir uns hinten in der Schlange anstellen, diese war in der Zwischenzeit auf ca. 30-40 min Wartezeit angewachsen, am Eingang wollte er uns dann - nach der Wartezeit - reinlassen. Zum Glück waren andere nicht so dumm wie wir und hatten ein Familienmitglied schon in der Schlange anstehen lassen: da haben wir uns dann als Gruppe mit angeschlossen - entgegen dem Willen des Guides, der meinte, die hätten das falsch gemacht und wir müssten uns am Ende einreihen. Das haben wir dann aber ignoriert. Also: dieses Ticket bringt einem gar nichts! Hingehen, vor Ort kaufen und anstellen - geht sschneller und streßfreier!!!
Whirling Dervishes:
außerhalb des Passes gekauft, wäre mit Pass billiger gewesen; naja, zur Einleitung in einen entspannten Abend kann man das mal machen; gute Einleitung durch einen perfekt englisch sprechenden Studenten;
Camlica Tower:
außerhalb des Passes gekauft, ohne Pass billiger;
toller Ausblick, leider schwer zu erreichen; aber Taxi (vom Beylerbeyi Palace Museum) ist nicht teuer;
Fazit:
Istanbul ist sehr sehenswert; der öffentliche Nahverkehr funktioniert meistens (unbedingt Istanbul Card besorgen), und notfalls nimmt man das Taxi. Aber wer informative Führungen möchte, sollte in den Bewertungen der anderen Anbieter gucken, ob es da bessere gibt...
Für uns war es so aber ganz ok!

Scam

I ordered pass on 20.06.2025, by that time e sim. Now they say it is not longer available. That's it nothing instead. No refund. No apologies.

We would like to clarify an important point to avoid any misunderstanding. The e-SIM service was never included as a paid or guaranteed part of the pass. It was offered only as a complimentary promotional benefit, provided free of charge via promo codes to eligible pass holders, without any additional cost reflected in the pass price.

Due to regulatory decisions by the authorities, we later had to discontinue this promotional offer. As this was a free, non-paid add-on and not a contractual component of the pass, it does not qualify for a refund or compensation. Nevertheless, we did apologize for the inconvenience caused by the removal of this promotion.

We understand that this was disappointing, and we regret the frustration it caused. However, the core services and attractions included in the pass remained fully available and unaffected.

This is close to a scam

This is close to a scam. They overcharged by 20 % converting to NOK, even if I asked for charge in euros. The e-sim that should be in the package was not available. The app requires stable internet all the time, without, it fails and you need wifi again to show reservations. They changed meeting point, no message in app, but you got a mail. At one venue guide did not turn up at all, and we missed the venue.

First, regarding the payment amount: currency conversion is an optional feature provided by Stripe, the international payment provider. When this option is selected, Stripe applies an approximate 4% conversion fee, which is not set, controlled, or received by us. All customers always have the option to complete their payment in EUR at the original price without any conversion fee.

Regarding the e-SIM service: this service was previously included but had to be removed due to regulatory decisions by the authorities. Unfortunately, this change was outside of our control, and once the restriction was enforced, we were no longer legally able to provide this service.

Concerning internet access and app usage: the internet requirement is clearly stated on our website and in our usage information. Our services, reservations, and QR code activations cannot be managed without an active internet connection, and offline usage is not supported.

As for tour updates and meeting points: any changes or important updates are always communicated via email to all booking holders in advance. Additionally, we use in-app pop-up notifications whenever possible. If the device does not have a stable internet connection, these notifications may unfortunately fail to appear or be overlooked. Our records indicate that the tours operated without delays on the scheduled dates.

We understand how frustrating travel disruptions can be, and we truly regret that this experience felt disappointing. However, we would like to emphasize that the issues mentioned are either clearly communicated in advance or outside of our operational control, and none were intended to mislead our guests.

Not worth the price

Not worth the price – disappointing experience with the Istanbul Tourist Pass

I used the Istanbul Tourist Pass for 3 days and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I visited Dolmabahce Palace, Ortaköy Mosque, the Blue Mosque, and Hagia Sophia – but entry to half of these places is free anyway, and for the others, the ticket prices were lower than the value of the pass.

I had issues at Topkapi Palace – although I arrived just slightly late, they refused to let us in, and the staff said they do not work with Istanbul Tourist Pass. The same happened at Galata Tower.

In the end, it’s not worth paying almost €200 for a pass that doesn’t cover all the major attractions. It’s more of a scam than a real value. I strongly recommend calculating the entrance fees separately before buying the pass.

The pass includes access to Topkapı Palace and Galata Tower through guided tours, not as direct-entry tickets. As stated in our app and on our website, pass holders must meet with our professional guides at a scheduled time to enter these attractions. Unfortunately, arriving late results in a missed tour. Please note that security staff at these sites are not affiliated with our service and would not have information about our guided tours, which is standard procedure.

Hagia Sophia requires an entrance fee, which is covered by the pass and includes an audio guide in 25 languages. The Blue Mosque, while free to enter, is included with a one-hour guided tour that provides valuable cultural and historical context.

The Istanbul Tourist Pass is a comprehensive package covering more than 100 attractions and services, including guided tours, boat cruises, and airport transfers. The full value of the pass is not reflected by evaluating it based on only a few select sites.

Our customer support team is available daily via WhatsApp, phone, and email. We have no record of you contacting us during your trip. We would have been happy to provide assistance and resolve any confusion at that time.

L'application sur mon mobile ne fonctionnait pas. Impossible d'avoir un interlocuteur qui parle français. Tous les soirs, j'ai du envoyer plusieurs demandes Wattsapp pour avoir les codes barres des activités du lendemain au lieu de valider toutes les activités du séjour!!! le lieu du spectacle n'était pas très explicite, ce qui fait que malgré notre demande auprès de plusieurs turcs (commerçants) il nous a été impossible d'y arriver à temps, donc activité annulée!!!

As mentioned, tickets become available on the day of the activity, and while our support is officially in English, we made every effort to assist you using translation tools throughout your stay.

We understand that language barriers can cause difficulties, but we did our best to communicate and provide the necessary information. It’s unfortunate that one missed activity affected your overall experience, despite our continued support.
