A member of management spoke to me, my mum and sister in an extremely rude and condescending manner because we had used a mud treatment we didn’t realise you had to pay for. She asked us to vacate the area! When we had paid a very expensive amount of money to be there. It was a genuine mistake. There were no signs up to say this treatment wasn’t to use.

Started bad and just got worse. Got to our room which was small but as we were only there for one night that was fine,but. Room not very clean, first was the tangle of hair on the quilt then found pillow case with holes in it one that you could put two fingers through. The bed comfortable for me but pillows were very hard on your head and very uncomfortable after a while. Dirty net curtains with what looked like dead bugs all over them.
The evening meal again was bad apart from the main arrived in good time and the wife's fish was ok. I had the chicken Tikka masala that was more like water than cashew nut butter. Tesco equivalent quarter of the price and much much better. Drinks were expensive to at nearly £12 for a pint of beer and glass of wine. It took about 30 mins to remove our plates and when asked about the food I told her that I have had a lot better to be honest and then she just smiled walked away and didn't offer the dessert menu. It took 20 mins after that we had to ask for one and to be fair the dessert was ok.

Now this one I know is out of the control of the hotel and I don't hold them responsible for it. Walls are very thin and you can hear a normal conversation through them. Our neighbours were moving furniture around when back to their room at 3.45 AM followed by talking, arguing, throwing up in the bathroom and then the balcony doors opening with throwing up over that. Then we listened into the call to reception for some towels and cleaning stuff and then quiet. But what a great recovery when at 5.30 AM just as I was dropping off you heard oh my God, oh babe,oh mark babe, only for five minutes. But then ten minutes later another five minutes of Mark baby. At least it didn't last long but good recovery mate. So no sleep at all.

Now breakfast. You think it's going to be bad BUT it was pretty good. 10/10 for that.

Finally it was our third stay here and it's not been all bad previously but it's getting tired and going down hill in my opinion so not again. Definately no longer a 4☆ hotel nearer a 2 I would say. Very dissapointing indeed.

The hotel was grim and extremely outdated and overpriced. We had so many issues. Upon check in we were given a room that had rubbish outside the front door including used sanitary items, the room was filled with dust, blood or other substances on the skirting boards, damaged head boards, cobwebs, stains on the carpet and sick smells. The hotel was fully booked however they did change our rooms - someone else who hadn’t checked in unfortunately got the rooms we were swapped out of. The next rooms were not much better, hair on the bed and on the chairs and our friends room smelled like the cleaners had just been to the toilet (they were in the room when they checked in and walked in), previous guests dirty beauty blender on the floor and cobwebs everywhere, dirty tea pots! We complained to reception 4 times. Each time we were told the room had been cleaned but that was not the case. 11pm that night and it still hadn’t been resolved but after a long day travelling we just needed to get some sleep. Complained the next morning and the rooms did not get cleaned until 6pm that evening. We were given a round of drinks at the bar, a bottle of champagne and wine in the room as an apology. We were also advised we would have 30% taken off our stay and to obtain the refund upon check out. The head house keeper cleaned the rooms at about 6pm and after that they finally felt as clean as they could be and smelled clean.

Breakfast & Afternoon Tea we’re great, however we did have to wait for 15 mins to be seated each time - no one knew we were even waiting which I think is ridiculous seeing as a time was booked. None the less the food was good. They did however have lists of names and booking details at the front for anyone to view - no disregard to GDPR here whatsoever.

Spa Day - spa was ok. Some of the areas in the thermal spa were not working so seemed pointless paying extra for that and the lunch provided was below average. My massage wasn’t great at all however my friend had the exact same massage and said hers was really good.

Upon check out the following day we were told only 30% off the first night was going to be refunded and the amount entered into the card machine didn’t even equate to 30%! We eventually got to speak to a manager who eventually gave us the full 30% refund and said a phone call would be made on Tuesday to discuss the appalling service we received despite the extortionate price we paid for our stay…. No phone call of course! It seems excuse after excuse was made and it wasn’t acceptable and to have the room ready for check in as it should have been at 6pm the following night I would have expected a much higher refund offered as there was no point us even staying on the first night.

We got a taxi into Chirk a few times and the taxi driver said so many of their clients complained in exactly the same way. I’m surprised this hotel is still operating and at full capacity.

We definitely won’t be returning and won’t be recommending this hotel to anyone!

I would avoid and would say travel lodge/premier inn is so much nicer in comparison!

We came for a spa day and overnight stay in the hotel. The spa day was lovely, (apart from a water issue) all the staff on that side of the resort (spa and nico's) we're all lovely, polite and welcoming. So no problems there.
Our issue was the hotel room and very snobby and unfriendly hotel reception staff. Not just one lady but another 2. We werent even acknowledged when we walked into the reception area even after i had said hello.
The hotel room was tiny and dirty. There were spiders on the walls and i had to move the beds because i had dropped something and under the beds was disgusting - thick dust and food. Clearly hasnt been cleaned properly for months.
We had food in the waterside restaurant, cant complain about the food or drinks but very slow service. After our mains we had to wait about 45 mins for our plates to be taken away and to be asked if we wanted dessert. We got talking to another couple of ladies and they told us they had been forgotton about after they had ordered food and had to keep asking where each course was but they got a free drink.
I have stayed in better budget hotels. I wouldnt stay again but i probably would attend the spa.

Stayed here recently on a Tranquility spa break. Had a nice buffet lunch in Nico's brassiere, however requested a coffee and was told the coffee machine was out of order. Waitress said we could get a coffee from Ashe cafe downstairs. We had some time to kill before our spa treatments so went to the downstairs cafe, but was told we will have to wait twenty minutes as the server was on her own. She also said that there is no coffee machine upstairs and the staff usually come down for coffee orders. Seems more convenient for staff to make up a story rather than tell the truth. The hotel is tired and needs modernization. Our own home is more luxurious than this so called four star hotel. Would not reccommend.

If you would like the worst nights sleep imaginable then this is the place to go.

It looks like a Premier Inn only done on a budget, badly.

The 'double' bed was two singles pushed together. Regardless of which of the two single beds I slept on I couldn't get to sleep as they were both very uncomfortable.

The noise at 2am was a nightmare although the woman next door to me was clearly 'enjoying' herself. Doors slamming all night and the walls were so thin I had the pleasure of listening to someone else retching. Brilliant. Just what I needed ahead of a long journey the next day.

We ate in the restaurant on the first night which was ok apart from the fact that despite the 15? members of staff loitering around it took 25 mins to be seated and another 30 mins to get someone to come over and take our order. I've also never seen so many people 'working' behind a bar but not serving anyone who was waiting.

Breakfast was a disaster. Maybe they could have used some of the scrambled egg to better insulate the walls!

I think the shower was stolen from a dolls house, make sure you don't drop your soap or there is no room to actually bend over to pick it up!

One of my highlights was the hair all over the floor and in the sink, pretty sure it wasn't mine given it was a different colour and length. Always pleasant when you're brushing your teeth.

I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me.
