Absolutely atrocious, I won two lots with Mellors and Kirk, and they wouldn’t let me have the items that I won. I spoke to Martha Parvin at Mellors and Kirk. She spoke down to to, and I’m absolutely appalled. Shame on you Mellors and Kirk. 😡😡😡

Awful customer service

The receptionist indicated that I could always cancel the postage if I wanted and use a more expensive method of posting

I felt the handling was abrupt rude and if you don't like it go somewhere else for postage for your items was inappropriate response to a query about had the items been posted albeit a challenge to our member of staff that does posting is on holiday..the post office is 7 miles away..it might have gone out Friday but I don't know etc

I wish I had read the other reviews about Mellors & Kirk before I bought from this site.

I purchased a Victorian birdbath from this company recently. As, due to Covid, you aren't allowed to view items in person, I requested a condition report. The condition report stated “No substantial damage”. After purchasing and collecting the item, I set up the birdbath in my garden only to find that there is a fairly obvious crack in the bowl of the birdbath (which I would class as substantial damage) resulting in the birdbath’s inability to hold water, thus rendering the birdbath unusable and not fit for purpose.

When I spoke to the very pompous, arrogant, condescending and patronising Nigel Kirk of Mellors & Kirk I was told that, and I quote, "antique garden items are sold by ourselves as decorative items only and buyers should purchase on this basis. You cannot expect an antique birdbath to hold water ".

He refused outright to refund me but did say and again I quote, " I am prepared to sell the item again, on your behalf, without charging you any commission. I would re-list the item without making mention of the damage".

I don't think I need to add anything further do I ? Apart from this.........

Buyers please be careful if you buy from Mellors & Kirk. I have bought from auction houses for years and have never experienced such disgraceful behaviour.

NB: I took my complaint to my credit card company who refunded my money.

I am struggling to understand how these people have a review score of 2.9 with only 2 reviews which are both terrible! Obviously this auction house is taking full advantage of the Covid pandemic because its difficult to physically get to see the items. They give very poor descriptions of their lots in the auction. I am ashamed of myself for trusting them and their description and should have looked into it more and asked for a condition report, not that i am confident that would be accurate. I wont be caught again and its a shame it has cost so much to learn this. Waste of time complaining.. no apologies and no follow up telephone call as promised.

If i could award 0 stars i would. Bought a £ 200 metal wall clock from these people recently. Only to find on its arrival that the case had been horribly butchered with a hack saw in many places. The case is worthless. During the pandemic most auctions are all on-line so it is very much more important that descriptions are accurate rather than using it as an opportunity to unload rubbish at an inflated price. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that it could have been a mistake and I e-mailed extensive pictures and a polite description only to get no response. Followed it up with a telephone call and was promised a response the next day. None received. Several e-mails later still no response. Its obvious that the chance they had to redeem themselves and communicate even if only to apologise they would rather ignore and show a total lack of respect for their customers. I will be reporting my honest experience on every social media site and review in order to warn potential buyers of the possible pitfalls of dealing with this company.

Dreadful cataloguing of a pair of medals. Bought two campaign medals over the internet. The catalogue had a picture of one side of the medals and a note on the condition - "QSA suspender reattached". However, when I received the medals each had a large blob of solder on the other side, i.e. the side not pictured in the catalogue. Addionally one medal had more solder on the clasps. When a I notified Mellors & Kirk they had missed these obvious and serious defencies they simply advised I should have asked for more photos and refused a refund. After a number of emails and letters they eventually (and begrudgingly) agreed a refund.
