I contacted Geoffrey Miller in December of 2022 as a last resort after being charged with failing to provide a specimen. I was set to lose my license for 3-5 years after having a previous drink drive conviction. Right from the off they assured me they would look at every aspect of the case to see what defence we had (I did not think we had any) Thanks to Justyna and her team they was able to see the negligence and failure to comply with procedure that the police had committed. In November 2023 I was found not guilty! A huge thank you must go to Phillip Lucas, he is the best barrister around! he knows the law around driving offenses inside out and there is no better person fighting your corner. Now the fees are very expensive, especially as I had to pay for expert witnesses and a further day at court due to the case be adjourned. However you get what you pay for and that is the best!

From my initial query to result, this team have been exceptional. Excellent communication throughout, professional experts and most importantly treated me respectfully like a person and not a process. I would highly recommend.

If your reading this, You may have been arrested recently for drug driving and there may be a high chance of blood results coming back above the legal limit.
Even though you may feel you don't have any kind of defence and everything was done by the book....trust me...these guys will find reasonable doubt. Their defence strategy is very clever and extremely well timed, they also use the best barristers which makes all the difference on the day.

After being stopped for speeding and testing positive for THC on a roadside drug swipe, I was in a panic about what would happen next. I’m not a regular smoker and only use on occasion for pain management so I was absolutely gutted at how unlucky I was to end up in this situation. Having to explain to my parents that I’d lost my license due to smoking and having to tell work as this would have resulted in a criminal record and they DBS check were my biggest concerns. However, after contacting numerous solicitors and getting an array of advice, I stumbled across Geoffrey Miller and immediately knew that they were going to represent me and help me fight my case. My initial contact ended up leaving and this left me in the hands of Saskia Abbot and I’m honestly beyond grateful that this was the outcome. You are probably reading this because you have been charged with a driving offence, are terrified of the consequences and don’t have any hope, just like I didn’t. I was arrested in September 2021 and was charged with driving with excess alcohol, my breath reading was quite high. I did some research on Drink Driving Solicitors with a proven track record and Geoffrey Miller Solicitors made the top of the list- Naturally I was extremely sceptical about achieving a successful outcome but was reassured all through the process by GMS and the reviews from their previous clients.

Catherine Baird took up my case and was always at the end of the phone if I ever needed anything. The impressive manner in which Catherine conducted the case, building multiple strands of defence and highlighting the shortcomings of the prosecution, working alongside some amazing barristers and an expert who I will mention further below. Catherine kept me updated throughout the process at all times. As time wore on I became heartened that with her meticulous attention to detail, I had the best defence team by my side.

My case was adjourned multiple times by the district judge at the magistrates court to ‘allow him time’ to come to certain conclusions etc. Extremely frustrating and stressful however this is something that you cannot rule out when it comes to the court system.

Despite a very strong and impressive performance from the one and only fantastic Philip Lucas, the district judge found me guilty in April 2023, ordered me to undertake 100 hours of community service, disqualified me from driving for 2 years and gave me a hefty fine. I was convinced that the judge was very pro-prosecution and ignored the flaws in my case.

You must now be wondering- I lost and wasted my time with it all? Keep reading…As stated above, Geoffrey Miller Solicitors were outstanding from the beginning and we were very shocked by the guilty verdict, I was almost certain that an acquittal was on the cards. I received advice on whether an appeal is worthwhile. Ultimately the decision to appeal rested with me, the client. I chose to go ahead with an appeal as I felt that the judge made the wrong decision and more so, I had upmost faith in Geoffrey Miller Solicitors as they had my back all the way for the last two years. We lodged my appeal and Catherine organised the suspension of my driving ban whilst the appeal was ongoing.

Fast forward to September 2023, the dreaded appeal day arrived, this time at the crown court- A rehearing of the case aka another trial. I met my barrister, Richard Saynor, an absolute genius, who straight away put me at ease with his friendly, calm manner and sympathy. He steered me through the day and got me out the other end. I didn’t need to give evidence this time around because the CPS through the towel in at halftime after Richard fought for me (It was heartening watching him put forward my case and cross examining the witnesses). He highlighted a number of fatal flaws in my case by the police..This meant that I WON MY APPEAL. I now have a clean record, recovering some costs and can move on with my life- It all paid off in the end!

So the service and support was excellent from our case handler Austen and we got an acquittal which was brilliantly executed in court by Phil Lucas, but make no mistake, this is a very lengthy and very expensive process (more than you originally think it’s going to be) as sometimes cases are delayed or deferred and each time there are costs. Totally worth it as far as we were concerned but i wish I had known it from the start.
