Did not get my $250 as promised for getting a star performance in the Communication and interpersonal skills.

Step CS has the highest fail rate among both US and IMGs alike. Don’t underestimate this test so it is best to prepare for it like the other USMLE exams. I didn’t take chances and used NYCS Prep and passed on my 1st attempt with flying colors (US-IMG). Practice the way you play.

Dr. Sommas and his standardized patients know this test very well and break it down to make sure you nail all the important points on every patient encounter to ensure you do your best. The patient exam rooms come fully equipped onsite and are perfect for practicing patient encounters so take advantage of the “practice until you test” policy to be ready for test day.

Mock Exams are actually 6 encounters and basically like UWorld on Tutor mode where you finish the patient case/note and then sit one on one with the Standardized Patients to discuss your performance. Their honest feed back is so helpful as a third party because they will make you aware of so many mistakes you might not pick up on if you were just practicing alone or with a friend. The cases themselves were very detailed and just as hard as the real exam. My real CS exam was still super hard but managed to do well using their strategies and approaches.

I actually did 3 mocks (18 cases) because I found it so helpful. They even let me do 3 extra cases with an SP for free when others didn’t show up during times I was just practicing there. It goes to show they really want you to do the best you can and not in it for the $$.

Dr. Sommas is always there in the evening and always willing to check your practice notes for feedback (most critical for passing CS) and to make sure you are up to par for the real test.

So highly recommended for any med student both US and IMG to prepare for CS here.

Positives : words to avoid, basic examination, how to order patient notes and break the ice with SPs.
Negatives : no actual history taking questions for every system, bad MSK examination with no special tests, many abbreviations in PN not accepted by the official site.

NYCS PREP did an excellent job with CS preparations. I do recommend coming to the program after reading through First Aid at least once as the program is only a few days long. The center is a great facility to meet other students and practice preparing for the exam with. Dr. Somas provides tougher feedback and cases, so that you are better prepared for test day. Thanks for all your help!

They don’t have enough staff to take care of students. The rooms are nice. It’s nice that you can come and practice as much as you want

Perfect course, highly advisable !!

First of all, this course must be mandatory in my school. If I did this, I won’t have to take Cs a second time. Dr Samoa’s teaching was straight to the point, notes taking skills made so easy I was finishing with at least 2-5 mins in each case during my exams. I knew I’ll pass even before the exams ended, although I didn’t do as much practice after the class. Sign up already!!!! You have nothing to lose, but more to gain, including a peace of mind knowing u aced it!!

Concise program. Plenty of students to study with. Review of charts is completed, but at times you’d have to be persistent about the review for it to be completed.

I attended NYCSPREP in order to prepare for my USMLE STEP2CS exam. They give you all the necessary tools to not only pass, but also perform well. Follow their guidelines, put in the time and dedication, take advantage of what their program offers including the practice classrooms and one-on-one SP sessions and you will succeed. No regrets, very thankful. Had a wonderful test day experience and even had a Skype session with an SP to practice the evening before my exam!
