We have been a customer from 2019 and our dog had accident and tore his ACL and had to go through a TPLO surgery. They denied the claim under the pretext that they have taken exception. They are not a ethical organization and I will never do business with them again. Anybody getting a policy with them please be very careful as they will keep on adding exceptions every year and increase the price significantly. We paid over 7 years and we were very unfair treated. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Au moment de souscrire, on a l'impression que notre animal sera protégé en cas de besoin. Malheureusement, la réalité est tout autre. La majorité des maladies et problèmes de santé les plus fréquents chez les chats sont exclus de la couverture. Résultat : lorsque vient le temps de faire une réclamation, il y a toujours une raison de la refuser.

Ce qui m'a le plus déçue, c'est de constater que de simples observations notées par le vétérinaire lors d'examens de routine sont automatiquement ajoutées au dossier comme des exclusions, même lorsqu'aucune problématique en soi, diagnostic ni aucune maladie n'ont été établis. Au fil du temps, la couverture devient tellement limitée qu'on finit par se demander à quoi sert réellement cette assurance, car tout est une exclusion.

J'ai payé des primes pendant plus de deux ans en croyant offrir une protection à mes chats. Aujourd'hui, j'ai le sentiment d'avoir payé pour un service qui ne répond pas à sa promesse d'être là en cas de besoin pour mes animaux.

J'ai donc pris la décision d'annuler les assurances de mes trois chats aujourd'hui. C'est une décision que je ne prends pas à la légère, mais je n'ai plus confiance en cette compagnie. Pour ma part, je suis très insatisfaite et je ne peux malheureusement pas recommander cette compagnie à aucune autre personne qui souhaite prendre soin de la santé de ses animaux et avoir la tranquillité d'esprit.

Do not purchase insurance from Pets Plus Us! Our premiums remained consistent for four years, but have now increased by approximately 65% over the last two years. That is not a nominal cost-of-living adjustment or standard inflationary increase. It feels like a strategic move to increase pricing when pets are older and customers have fewer practical options.

The customer service experience has also been disappointing. There was no flexibility, no meaningful explanation, and very little compassion. My only options were to reduce coverage, cancel coverage, or accept the new rate.

Pet insurance is supposed to provide peace of mind during the years when your pet may need it most. Instead, this experience has left me feeling trapped and deeply frustrated.

This is a money pit that will deny every claim. Will even pretend there were pre-existing conditions when there were none. Absolute scum. Go with anyone else

I paid for this pet insurance for years believing it would provide support when my pet eventually needed medical care. Unfortunately, when that time came, the experience was incredibly frustrating. The claims process was slow, communication was poor, and I felt like every step involved another obstacle. On top of that, my premiums kept increasing significantly each year, making it difficult to justify keeping the policy. I expected peace of mind, but instead I was left stressed and uncertain during an already difficult situation. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.

They do not cover any dental surgery. It doesn't matter to them how bad it is - even though it's a standard coverage for most good insurances.
accerssing their portal is very problematic. To this day I couldn't access it. They changed their system nd made it worse.
Save yourself some patience, time, and the money and pay out of pocket. Or get any other insurance. If you have a domestic cat, they are not worth it.

I have been with this company for many years and have 2 now senior dogs insured through them.

This company used to be good and processed claims in a decent amount of time.

Fast forward to 2026 and it is taking over 4 months and still waiting for them to process my claim for my dogs pancreatic attack. I have followed up 3 times with via email asking for an status update on my claim with the same response each time that my message has been forwarded to claims and they will be in touch once they have an update. No one has reached out.

It feels as though all this company cares about is your money and not your pets. Each year at renewal time the premium goes up regardless of your claims.

Also every time I've made a claim I have to phone my vet to resubmit all medical documents as somehow they seem to misplaced them.

Having senior dogs I would hate to go without insurance but I may end up having to cancel insurance and find a new insurance company who actually cares about peoples pets.

I will never use this company for pet insurance again.

Pets Plus Us are nothing but parasites with a capital “P” - steer clear. They will happily take your monthly premiums from your bank account and increase them annually but offer nothing in return when it comes to claim time. I purchased insurance through them 3 years ago with my CAA discount for my large senior dog which I adopted when she was 13 years of age. I would have been better off putting the monthly insurance premiums in cash in a bucket and setting fire to it for what I have received from this company which is nothing. Claims are either outright denied within 24 hours or they will have you jumping through hoops to obtain further medical records from your vet for the simplest, nominal claim despite the itemized details being provided on the receipt from your veterinarian only for it to be denied. Example, my sweet girl tripped going up our outside stairs which caused a wound which debrided a small portion of her skin on her leg - no stitches involved but wound flush and an antibiotic ointment was prescribed - they required further medical records for this claim. Being the parasites that they are, they denied it anyway as they had the audacity to deem it as part of her pre-existing condition (osteoarthritis). A trip and fall accident deemed as a pre-existing condition! WTAF?! CAA and Costco should be ashamed for promoting this bloodsucking company to their customers.

This company is extremely frustration to deal with. It takes them weeks to reply to emails. Months to pay out. And have over charged me April 2026 $60.82 to May 2026 $88.95. No warning, no email, no response to my email. I really want to cancel my policy and more elsewhere. Do not trust them.

Avoid like the plague. This company is a total scam at renewal time. Premium jumped from $130.28/month to $299.80/month. More than double overnight. That’s now more expensive than my car insurance and house insurance combined. After years of faithfully paying them, they’ve decided to price-gouge me into cancellation. Zero warning, zero loyalty, zero justification that makes any sense. This feels like a bait-and-switch designed to trap long-time customers. I’ve had enough. Pets Plus Us is greedy, and unreliable. Do yourself a massive favour and stay far away. There are better options out there.

Extremely disappointing claims experience with Pets Plus Us / Northbridge.

Over the course of several months I dealt with:

* duplicate deductible application within the same policy year
* conflicting reimbursement decisions
* reversed reimbursements
* missing claim documents and Explanation of Benefits files in Pet Cloud
* claim pages showing little to no information
* and repeated inability to reach management despite numerous phone calls and escalation requests

I have now sent multiple escalation emails, filed external complaints, and still have not received a substantive resolution or direct management contact. At this stage, I want someone to act now and properly address these issues instead of continuing to send generic responses and delay the matter further. I am still hopeful that this can be resolved quickly and professionally.

The most frustrating part is that the entire purpose of pet insurance is to help avoid financial strain during difficult medical situations. Instead, I was left carrying large balances on my credit card while waiting through repeated delays and inconsistent claim handling.

I would strongly encourage policyholders to carefully review all reimbursements, deductible calculations, and claim records.

I’m trying to cancel an add on and they have a fake email address, plus no way to cancel on your account.

They use any reason to refuse á claim. If I can put 0 star for this company I would. I have been paying $190/month and they find any reason not to pay even a 200$ reclamation from my vet. Do not pruchase
COSTCO should not refer them.

Almost nothing is covered - in 10 years, I've had 1 claim accepted and now my premium is going up to more than my home insurance, monthly. Ridiculous. Do not purchase.

I would give zero stars if I had the choice.

We have had a pet insurance policy with them for our cat for the past 16 years. We have never had a issue and our monthly payments have been reasonable increased over the years but they just went from $106 per month to $245 which is close to a 150% increase. We have paid this company over $20,000 over 16 years and now our rate is unaffordable to us just as our cat is likely going to need insurance the most. We haven't made many claims and when I asked about the increase I was told it is determined by breed, vet costs in our area and inflation.

The 150% increase seems like a stretch and it feels like this company is trying to rip me off and they are acting in a gross, unethical way. How is it in any way, shape or form okay for companies to have a consistent premium for 16 years and then just increase it so exponentially that people who have paid into it for years can no longer afford it.

Pets Plus Us has honestly been worth it for me. It’s saved me several times, even though the insurance isn’t the cheapest. After submitting a claim, I usually have the money in my account within about 10 days, and the customer service is great.

They do increase prices every year, but that’s pretty common with everything. Living in British Columbia, everything is expensive—especially veterinary care—so I’m really glad something like this exists. Overall, I’m very satisfied.

What is a bit surprising to me, though, is how many people say their premiums can go up by as much as 100% per year. In my case, the increase has been around 15% at most, which feels much more reasonable.

I strongly caution anyone considering Pets Plus Us—this has been one of the worst consumer experiences I’ve had.

I originally purchased this policy through President’s Choice Financial, expecting fair, stable coverage. Instead, after years of faithfully paying premiums, I’ve been hit with back-to-back massive increases. My premiums have doubled—and then doubled again in consecutive years.

I am now paying over $2,300 annually for a plan that only covers up to $2,500 per year. Think about that: you’re essentially paying the full value of the policy every single year, with no guarantee of actually receiving anything back.

This feels like a bait-and-switch model. The pricing was reasonable when my dog was younger, but now that my pet is older and more likely to need care, the premiums have been pushed to a level that is completely unsustainable. It gives the clear impression that long-term customers are no longer wanted.

There is no real value left in this policy—only escalating costs and minimal coverage. After years of loyalty, this is how customers are treated.

Do your homework before signing up. Based on my experience, I would absolutely not recommend this company.

Our Pet due to age and medical complications was put down on 24th December 2025. The claim was sent to Pets Plus Us shortly afterwards along with cancelation of our pet's insurance.
To date, we are still waiting for the reimbursement.
Their claims process is unacceptable.
We are seriously considering canceling our insurance for our second senior pet as there is always an issue.

We used to love this company. We've been with this company for almost 9 years. The rate and responsiveness was fantastic. We made a few claims a few years back and were really happy with the service. Almost 10 years ago we paid about 40 dollars a month. Once the company changed hands a few years ago, suddenly our rate was 100/month. It was a hike but we felt it was worth it as were both working professionals and like the peace of mind. Our fur baby turned 9 this November and now in March 2026, the rate suddenly jumped up to 165/month. This is unacceptable!! This is more insurance than my car and house combined! Its disgusting that a company would jack up costs in the time of your fur babies life when they will likely need it most after almost a decade of loyalty. What's worse it that this is the price for a dog that is in good health and no regular treatments of any kind. I can't imagine what it would cost if he did. Be forewarned, if you're thinking of taking insurance out for your dog's later years, you likely wont even be able to afford it when you need it. Shame on you PetsPlusUS!

I sent a request for kennel reimburse as I was hospitalized for 3 days. I did exactly as they instructed me to do. My claim was put on hold because of insufficient information. It took me 5 calls before anyone could tell me something other than "I don't know what is needed." Finally I was put in touch with Candice. She was exceptional. She got to the bottom of what more was needed, making calls to receive necessary documents. Ask for Candice if you are having issues.
