I am extremely frustrated with how my travel insurance claim was handled. My claim was denied due to a so-called “pre-existing condition,” which does not accurately reflect what actually happened.
My father did have a prior medical condition, but the reason for our claim was a seizure—an unexpected and serious medical event. Instead of evaluating the situation fairly, the insurance company automatically linked it to his pre-existing condition and denied the claim without properly considering the circumstances.
It feels misleading to sell coverage for emergencies and then use broad policy language to avoid paying when something truly unexpected occurs. There was no clear effort to assess whether the seizure was directly related or not—just a blanket denial.
This experience has been incredibly disappointing and has made me lose trust in the value of this insurance. I would strongly advise others to be cautious, as it seems claims can be denied even when the medical event is sudden and not clearly tied to a pre-existing condition.

I am extremely disappointed with the level of service I have received. I booked a trip to Puerto Vallarta, and even an incident involving armed gangs overtaking the airport was not considered sufficient grounds for a refund.
I filed my claim on 2/25, and there was no communication whatsoever until 4/14. During that six‑week period, I attempted to reach your company more than ten times by phone and email, yet the only responses I received were automated messages stating that my claim was “being worked on.”
I purchased a plan that explicitly states it can be canceled at any time and for any reason. Despite this, my claim was denied without meaningful explanation or engagement from your team. The lack of communication, the prolonged delays, and the reliance on a technicality to deny a straightforward claim are unacceptable.
As someone who has owned and operated an insurance agency for nearly 20 years, I am well‑versed in proper claims handling standards. I have never encountered a process as unresponsive or unprofessional as this one.
We spent more time gathering all the information than you guys did handling the claim. Your marketing is deceptive and misleading. You guys shouldn't be in the business of helping people. You market that everything is covered in huge letters across the top of your policies, but hide behind the fine print.
Here's their reply to my email after they requested to direct message them and they would try to assist me....."We regret your frustration with the claim review process and appreciate the opportunity to provide more information. While we understand that you did not receive the communication you were expecting, the name and direct extension of the team member assisting you was provided. In addition to the emails included below, a team member spoke with you on March 10, 2026, regarding the documentation outstanding at that time. It is our understanding that the claim decision was discussed with you in a phone call on April 14, 2026.
We apologize that our communication did not meet your expectations and value your feedback as we continually work to improve our service. Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention."
It's all smoke and mirrors. I say I've been calling and emailing every week in the review, and they blame me for not calling the direct number they provided. That's the number I was calling, thank you.

No Contact with a Live Person Form Travel Insured
Travel Insured has had my formal claim under an established Plan and Case number for over two weeks. I have not received one phone call from their staff or analyst on the status of my claim, only the non informative EMail saying they have received information from me. I send them information directly related to resolving the claim, such as receipts, official Doctor’s Diagnosis, and Treatment plans, and all I hear back is with a “canned Email”.
I think Travel Insured has no customer service in mind, otherwise I would have heard from a live staff person by now.

Easy claims process
My husband had a medical event that prevented him from travelling in the next 6 months to a year. We had a trip planned for Greece and had to cancel it. We provided Travel Insured International with all requested information and were issued a check for our lost deposits and air payments within three weeks. We did provide, on our own, a lot of information regarding his medical condition. The process was relatively straightforward and we received a check in about three weeks after providing all the required information. If we are able to travel again in the future we would definitely use Travel Insured International again.

Broke my femur on a cruise
When I fell on the cruise ships we were immediately taken care of and all our needs were met without delay. I was in great pain and could do very little on my own behalf, but Travel Insured had immediately enlisted Robin Assist to airlift me out of the Dominican Republic to Ft. Lauderdale where I could get proper medical care. I spent a week there and was escorted to my home in Kentucky by a medical assistant. Travel Insured International took care of all of it, it is absolutely the best!
