Travel Pillow South Africa Scam
Order placed and payment made 1th August for a travel pillow and sleeping mask.
I was given a tracking number and advised to wait a few days. Over the next 10 - 15 days I kept checking the tracking number but it never became a valid number. Also discovered the company is based in china, not south africa (not a big issue but based in south africa was implied).
Waited a bit longer but already was feeling very uneasy about dealing with them as they kept saying not to worry the parcel was on its way. I order regularly from overseas buyers and one gets a sense of when something is not quite right with an order or a company. I asked to cancel the order and refund which they refused, said it was on its way and they couldnt and to just wait longer. I felt there wasn't anything further I could do then and waited another 2 weeks. Expected delivery was 10 - 20 days. At almost 5 weeks I got in touch again, still no valid tracking number and no delivery. Now they said the package hadn't left yet, some nonsense about tight flight times etc and again I was told just to wait. It had become abundantly clear this is a scam and there was no intention to deliver the item so I approached my bank to reverse the transaction.
I then got an email yesterday (almost 2 months after ordering) to say the package is lost in transit and how about a refund of 40% of the value!!
I have no doubt the pillow was never sent, there was never a valid tracking number and all communication is designed to delay to make a bank reversal more difficult.
Do not buy from these people, I wish I had encountered reviews warning me....
P.S. I looked again for a google review page to submit and isnt it interesting that the links on their website to all social media including twitter, facebook and google are all dead ends. In retrospect I really should have checked this before putting in an order.
Don't do what I did, do your homework on these scammers.
