UK Windows and Doors Bradford replaced…

UK Windows and Doors Bradford replaced our front windows and front door. Initial contact with salesman was good so we decided to proceed, mistake!
Door was incorrectly fabricated and we ordered a security chain which wasn’t fitted. Door was also out of line.
They argued door was fine, even though they hadn’t seen it!
After numerous emails, they don’t answer telephone calls, issues were finally sorted
Had other issues but eventually they stopped answering emails, making them impossible to contact.
Tried several times to contact original salesman, who initially said he would resolve any problems. He too did not answer calls
Our products apparently have a ten year guarantee, only problem is they are uncontactable making this guarantee worthless
Completely disappointed with the service provided

Great company and fair prices would highly recommend. Rarely had any issues with orders overall. Very reliable company to work along side with. Any queries that we may have are answered promptly and politely.

Undersize Windows On New Build

If you've got a new build property that had the windows originally installed by K-Ban Windows from Ashchurch near Tewksbury (k-ban.co.uk) your opening windows (sashes) will probably have been made undersize.

According to the K-Ban Windows Customer Care Manager (now their Managing Director) they install approximately 1000 windows/week.

The windows fitted at my property have the Duraflex Diamond Suite Profile (duraflex.co.uk) and the actual windows were fabricated by The UK Window Group (ukwg.co.uk). The UKWG and Duraflex belong to the same group of companies. According to the UKWG website they manufacture 10,000 window frames/week.

Duraflex the profile manufacturers set the standards for the window fabricator to make the windows. In the Duraflex Diamond Suite Fabrication Manual it shows that the opening window (sash) should be 7.5mm/side bigger than the actual window opening (so 15mm o/all bigger than the opening that it fits into).

The opening window (sash) should be made bigger so it overlaps the rubber seal by 7.5mm on all four sides. You can roughly check this on your windows with the window in the closed position draw a pencil line around the window frame opening onto the closed window (sash) frame. When you open the window (sash) the size from the edge of the opening frame to the pencil line should be 7.5mm. The other way to check is to measure the window frame opening and then the opening window (sash). The opening window(sash) should be 15mm bigger.

Having spoken to both UPVC experts and the hinge manufacturers they both say the maximum manufacturing tolerance on UPVC windows is normally between 1.0 - 1.5mm/side with different companies. They also advised that having the reduced overlap onto the seal may cause the window not to seal or if it does seal initially as soon as the hinge wears will then fail to seal. Based on this the minimum overlap onto the rubber seal would be 6 - 6.5mm or the opening window (sash) should be at least 12 -13mm bigger than the window opening.

In my opinion the opening window (sashes) are deliberately made undersize to reduce the remedial works in the first two years for K-Ban Windows as the new build property drys out with shrinkage.

Having the opening windows (sashes) made undersize also creates other problems apart from the window not sealing or sealing that well. The Duraflex profile has an advertised Stack Height of 13.5mm (the gap between the opening window (sash) and the fixed frame where the hinge is fixed) but this is provided the opening window has been manufactured to the correct size with the 7.5mm overlap onto the seal. If you reduce this it will increase the Stack Height size in-situ. For example if your opening window (sash) only has a 5mm overlap (so 2.5mm undersize) this would increase the Stack Height to 16mm in-situ (13.5 + 2.5). However if like me the hinges installed have a 13mm Stack height with a working tolerance of +/- 1.5mm the hinges will wear very quickly & soon need replacing as they have been installed into an out of tolerance situation. The hinge manufacturer when asked about the set-up stated trying to install any product beyond its limitation will inevitably cause issues.

Likewise on the hinge side of the opening window (sash) if you have the plastic Locking Wedges installed these also come in two sizes 13mm (for Stack Heights 13-14mm) and 17mm (for Stack Heights 17-18mm). The idea of the plastic Locking Wedges is that it pushes the opening window (sash) onto the seal where fitted and stops the opening window (sash) bowing out in the closed position. If your opening window (sash) has been made undersize resulting in it having say a 16mm Stack Height in-situ then the plastic Locking Wedges in theory will have a 3mm gap between them when the window is in the closed position so actually not doing anything like they were designed for and certainly not helping to seal the window.

After x 4 replacement Techniglass…

After x 4 replacement Techniglass accoustic faulty UPVC unit, I leave this review after 16 months. The sales company Quote Me Low sent me onto supplier UK Windows Group. The office staff at UKWG make false promises to resolve. I went to Ombusman these companies not registered.

The arbitration service is trying, Quote Me Low, 7 Days which I discovered is part of UK Windows Group, Cardiff.

My mum helped me pay and tragically died suddenly 22 Oct 2021. One of the last things she said 'please don't let those companies not replace that faulty accoustic glass' I promised her I will pursue.

I either want a faultless window or compensation, I don't think that's unfair or unreasonable.

Today Rebecca UKWG telephoned me said their glass company, Techniglass had let them down. I have to go back to 7 Days and Quote Me Low for compensation. I've thought about it since. UK Windows Group own 7 Days! UK Windows Group also own Techniglass that let them down?! Really.

Anyone know who is the recourse with. Quote Me Low said they have no joy with UK Windows Group their supplier.

Shoddy operation

Honestly, I'm shocked this company manages to function at all.

Failing relationships with vendors who refuse to work with them. Refusal to supply replacement parts because they "don't deal directly with the public".

A customer service dept that seems to be employed purely to deflect.

Shoddy all round.

They also sent damaged double glazing for my conservatory project. The installers Quote Me Low Windows Ltd used a Kent supplier to replace them. There was also a mix up in the measurements of Quote Me Low Windows which were not corrected spoiling the finished look. I am not surprised that one review complains that Quote Me Low were of no help, my experience was they were incompetent.

A fractured window was amongst a delivery from this company in November 2020. Today, 7th June 2021, seven months later, we received its replacement -because it had never been re-ordered. Appalling and dishonest service.

UK Windows and Doors Group Ltd

UK Windows and Doors Group Ltd based in Wales. On their website they list partnership with Seven Days, based in Kent.

In August 2020 I ordered double glazing from a sales company Quote Me Low with numerous issues, poor quality defective Accoustic window and 1 UPVC frame.

All 3 companies pass the buck whilst I am the fool who paid in full; the Accoustic glass defect showed a few weeks after installation.

Since then I have arranged days off for the glass to be replaced. Twice when fitters from Quote Me Low carefully opened the wrapped 'quality' checked with stamp to find defects. One UPVC frame very badly damaged, that too had a 'quality' checked stamp. UK Windows and Doors Group Ltd state issue in transport between UK Windows and Doors Group Ltd and Seven Days. I am not so sure having witnessed 2 Accoustic glass panes and 1 UPVC frame opened, no damage to outer packaging and defective inside.

After 9 months trying to get my install complete I asked for a refund / compensation on the Accoustic window. Yet again, pushed between the 3 companies. The contract I had with Quote Me Low swerved by their MD stating the issue is between UK Windows and Doors Group Ltd and Seven Days. This effectively leaves me with no company fighting my corner.

I have emailed UK Windows and Doors Group Ltd direct to the Chief Executive - Matthew Scoffield and asked for a reply with 48 hours. I have not received a courtesy acknowledgement or communication, just silence.

I have another installation date 1 June 2021 but absolutely no guarantee this will go ahead as 2 other dates have failed.

It doesn't appear there is any real regulation in this business. I can see from reviews on Trust Pilot that UK Windows and Doors Group Ltd also do their own installations and fitting so now I guess the production of my window is not being given priority due to their direct customer orders. In my case I am in a tier arrangement, they supply to Seven Days who supply to Quote Me Low.

If anyone has any suggestions or information to help as the CE at UK Windows and Doors Group Ltd is clearly not interested.

Please let me know. I do not consider my review unreasonable given the amount of time.

BEWARE! This company is full of liars!

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! THEY ARE LIARS AND GOT A MOTHER OF 2 TO QUIT HER JOB BY OFFERING HER A JOB AND THEN TOOK OT AWAY FROM HER WHILE ADVERTISING THE SAME VACANCY ON JOB SITES! DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC!

My younger sister, who's a mother of 2 young children, applied for a job at the Treorchy factory of this company as it was closer to her home and the childrens school than the job she had at the time (she worked in a hospital as admin staff). She got an interview and was offered a job. She handed in and worked her notice but then the pandemic, and subsequently lockdown, hit us all.

She was passed around several members of staff at the UK Window Group for a few months but was always advised a start date would be given to her as soon as restrictions eased up. At one point she was even advised a contact was being sent to her so she could sign it.

So, she didn't look for other work and just survived on her husband's wage.

Once restrictions were eased, my sister heard nothing from this company so she called and emailed, yet again. She was told, eventually, that the job was no longer available because of what's happened to the company due to COVID (hit financially, orders slowed down etc.). She'd been waiting around for about 3 or 4 months for a start date then told THIS via email! The person who emailed claimed that they'd tried to call but couldn't get through (yeah right!). The email was time stamped at 4.59pm, one minute before the office closed, so my sister couldn't call and talk to anyone (a deliberate tactic in the admin world to avoid talking to someone).

She was, obviously, upset, angry and stressed. Immediately she started searching the job pages for vacancies to apply for. Surprisingly, she saw the job she had applied for and been given being advertised! She thought perhaps it was the old ad and it just hasn't been taken down but...no. It was posted 4 days prior to her being told, after months of "we'll get your start date sorted soon, that the job was no longer available! She called the HR back the following day to discuss the matter and, after a brief discussion, the HR person who sent the email above, said they would look in to this and call my sister back. They didn't call back. Another email was sent, by the same HR person, now stating that the job had changed and required previous experience of the general role as well as experience with the software used by this company. My sister explained that she worked for this very company, a few years prior, doing the exact same job for several months. The person she worked with was still there and the software hadn't changed. This made no difference to the HR person. The job was no longer available, even though they are recruiting for it, and that was that. My sister reapplied for this "new" position but didn't get an interview.

I would never support a company that messes around with people's lives. Especially during a global pandemic. Neither should you. DO NOT BIY FROM THEM! TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!
