No Oil Filter in Store and Transmission Problem
On the 2nd of JUNE I booked my 2024 Mini Cooper s in for an engine oil service; only 4100 miles on the clock. Dropped car off at 8.45, requested for pick up at around lunchtime. Kirsty phoned me at about 12.30, stated they were running late and gave me a1.30 pick up. Arrived at 1.30, Kirsty stated that they hadn’t got the correct oil filter and were in the process of locating one! I could not believe what she was saying; how can it be that a large BMW Mini group garage can be lacking what is a simple motoring part; an oil filter! Not forgetting that I had booked my minor oil service over a week before. Whilst quite angry, I politely expressed my sheer frustration. Kirsty became defensive but did later apologise and after another hour somehow located one, she did reduce my invoice and after another 30 minutes I was on my way. I live about 20 miles away and throughout the journey the automatic transmission was stuck in a low gear; I had to use the paddles constantly to get home! I immediately phoned Kirsty re this fault. She was adamant that at no time during my service the transmission had come into play, BUT surely this to my mind was never a coincidence, obviously whilst during the service something had occurred to upset the transmission. Kirsty suggested that I restart the car and take a short drive. I did this and the fault cleared; the automatic transmission worked as it should. The main reason for this review is to state firmly in print, pinpointing the Transmission fault which somehow was without doubt attributed in some way to the actual service. I found Kristy’s response overly defensive against sheer and utter fact. I was not impressed! Overall a very disappointing day; the first and indeed the last using Vines Mini.
