We are a team united by a passion for bikes and we have a wide range of cycling experience amongst our sales staff, mechanics and mail order team.
Our passion for cycling is invested back into the sport through the sponsorship and support of our British Elite road race team Wheelbase CabTech Castelli.
Now in its 12th year, we hold our annual MTB demo weekend in April, attracting up to 250 riders to our Lake District store, often in spite of the wet Cumbrian weather. We have a great community of cyclists here in the Lake District and there are plenty of events going on throughout the year, including the 3 Valley Challenge in June, our Tour de Staveley in July and the Wheelbase Spring Classic in March. We offer backing to local organisations where possible and are great supporters of Kendal Cycle Club and Fix the Fells.

Excellent product and service
Very disappointed with rudeness of staff on the day after our Brompton bicycle had a new gear cable fitted plus other work to the cost of £254 on it’s first ride out after 5 miles the ‘hub gear cable pulley anchorage’ broke leaving me uphill in top gear. The response we received was unhelpful and condescending both on the phone when I was with a very helpful member of staff in Windermere bike shop (Total Adventure Bike Hire) who diagnosed the problem and got me back in a low gear and when my partner then did another journey to Staveley with the bike to be told it was not broken when it left the bike shop. However the mechanic was apologetic. In no way did the manager nor company make us feel valued as customers and we regret spending any money with them.
I wanted to order a bike with different handlebar width to the original, sent email and followed with phone call. The Man on the phone was extremely helpful in setting up finance and everything needed for the bike and new handlebar fitting. Bike looks amazing and delivery was prompt.
Yet again Ben and the team in Ilkley really helped me out with my bike (rear mech setup).
I like that not only is my bike running so much smoother but that they also take the time to explain what was wrong, how that effected my cycling and also what they did to fix it
I do my own servicing but it goes to show that it's still always worth taking into a professional from time to time to make sure it's all good

My first time using wheelbase and won’t be the last. After the chain snapped on my bike and was unable to get it looked at elsewhere. I tried my luck when passing by. The member off staff that assisted me was brilliant. Came out looked at the bike and said he could do it straight away for me. ( usually would need an appointment, I got lucky it was towards the end of the day ) within 15 minutes the job was completed. Thanks again much appreciated.

This is my second review for wheelbase ..I need to highlight 2 things here..1 I needed a replacement wheel as my car was smashed into by a hit and run clown..so I phoned the contact number for "paul" at wheelbase 4 times in the space of 2 weeks his response each time was I'll get back to you which he never did..probably couldn't be bothered??? Thats really poor customer service...however I phoned direct to wheelbase and spoke to damian and ordered a new wheel and tyre in the space of roughly 5 mins...so management ought to know ..why is Paul still working for you??.🤔. im thoroughly disappointed. Hats off to damian 😇
I recently purchased a Trek Domane from Wheelbase and couldn't be happier with the service. Even though the bike was out of stock for about 10 days, the team was fantastic at keeping me updated with clear timelines and delivery tracking.
I also ordered helmets and requested they be sent ahead of the bike so I could start using them—Wheelbase handled this perfectly and sent them out separately as asked. When the bike arrived, it was exceptionally well-packaged with very clear assembly instructions. A smooth, professional experience from start to finish!

Put my bike in for their Red service at Ilkley shop which is £129 . Left bike with them but then didn’t hear anything for a week so had to call them was then told it shouldn’t be long . Got a call 25 mins later saying it was ready to pick up which I thought was too quick for the comprehensive Red service . Got the bike home to check it over and nothing had been done to the bike . Total rip off and I think they thought they could just take advantage of me. No proper service was done not sure they realised I’m an experienced cyclist who cannot be conned , do not use this company
Didn’t have the best experience, ordered my wheels, they took a lot longer than expected/ advertised to come. There was an issue with one of the tires which I was informed of last minute, so ended up waiting just over 3 weeks, the customer service I received was okay, pretty polite but was a little misleading. My alloys arrived in three different deliveries, so had 3 different delivery times, one missing a dust-cap and none of them being balanced correctly, so Iv had to get that done myself. After spending nearly £1400 not really the all round service I had expected. Would I buy from here again, No. I have bought from alloys from LK performance before ,much better service, faster delivery.
Ordered a new set of wheels as I needed pen urgently due to a cracked wheel. No mention of them not being in stock when the money was taken only to tell me it’s gonna be a week ……. Then 4 days later they tell me it’s going to be roughly another week. Spoke to a girl whose attitude was just to ask if I wanted to cancel with no real effort to resolve the situation. I have bought a few sets of wheels from these over the years but this will be the last time. If they had specified before taking my order the timescale I would not of ordered ! Not the cheapest and also the delivery is shocking. Shop around is my advice
