Absolutely one of the top programs available. I am increasing my comprehension, improving my speaking, I am learning vocabulary and I am having lots of fun.
I love this program and am so grateful. The quality is excellent and the programming superb.

Yabla is an innovative and convenient way to learn languages! All you need is a computer or device and an internet connection. The videos are diverse, authentic, and include many helpful tools such as subtitles, and games. Speed control & repeat can help you really improve your accent. The site allows you to interact with language in a way that would be difficult to do without greater cost. Yabla is like moving to a new country and hiring an army of tutors, only better!

I love the videos by aula azul in particular. They are always very humorous and relevant. The music I don’t find that useful, nor the series but I think that’s a matter of taste. I don’t watch series in English either! I also like Cleer and Lydia. Again they are relevant to my needs. The Vocab games are good. I like everyday experiences as a basis. The grammatical explanations by Carlos I find too dry for my style of learning, although they may suit others.

I like the fact that there are lots of different people to choose from so that I can get practice with different French accents. I love many of the topics, especially the historical ones. The games are very helpful as it really helps with listening skills. Sometimes, I can't understand any of it but each day I get better. The only thing that would be good is perhaps a way that the student can speak, just short phrases,mimicking the presenter.

The story was clearly spoken and I could read and listen continuously until I got it.

The vocabulary drills are very helpful, especially because they are linked to the videos that accompany them.
It would help me to receive a lesson each day rather than one or two during the week. That would help me stay on track.

Signing up on Yabla was a great step forward in my journey to be bilingual. Being able to listen to a second language as it is actually spoken is priceless.

It makes learning a language a lot easier and enjoyable. I have dispensed with note books and text books and just listen and absorb.

Yabla has many finely tuned features to encourage and promote passive and active language skill development.
The program initially appears to have the right approach until one starts using and analyzing the actual structure behind Yabla. I am somewhat disappointed in a program that has so much potential.

The many layers and types of materials and the difficulties in finding and organizing the materials in a sequential, progressive manner, especially for neophytes, present a serious instructive defect that makes Yabla, with so many strong points, not a useful tool for those needing to learn a language from the beginning, systemically and quickly.

Yabla needs to be more than a collection of entertaining videos with great features in order to compete effectively with better and more pedagogically organized language learning systems. For example, there need to be many videos or even non videos that basically drill and build language skills, that review and reinforce those skills, with a controlled vocabulary and grammatical structure. RIght now, Yabla is a scatter-gun approach that will not build fundamental skills quickly or even thoroughly. Most adult learners do not assimilate material in a hit or miss fashion. A balance is needed between fun and not fun. That's the challenge that Yabla has not succeeded in doing. Yabla is basically fun.

I would recommend that Yabla be the best of both worlds. When a user needs to be drilled, there should be plenty of organized material. When the user wants to be entertained, there should be plenty of authentic material as currently available even though the warmups need to be overhauled as true pedagogical games as well.

I am not a professional language pedagogue, but I quickly detected that Yabla has failed to provide a top learning platform... and yet it has such great potential!

Serious professionals and academics should be engaged to improve the usability of the program. There should be beta testing and the scientific application of language acquisition skills with actual subscribers, selected on a set of established criteria.

I love the videos and hearing the variety of native speakers. I do find myself wanting more videos.
