Really lovely experience
Really lovely experience, staff were lovely and at the end received a complimentary drink from them, the food was really flavourful and fairly priced.

First, let me be clear.
This is a review of the Bristol part of the Yakinori chain.
My group and I walked into a completely empty Yakinori holding drinks from Blank Street. We were seated with our drinks fully visible, and no comment was made. We sat down, ready to order food. Then an older maybe newer lady came over and let us know we shouldn’t bring outside goods in… like it’s a cinema or something? So we stood up to leave and then she said “oh no, please stay just *hide* your drinks.” Bro… FROM WHO? What logic did you just follow? There wasn't a single other customer in the building.
The entire point of a "no outside food or drink" policy is optics and competition.
You don't want diners seeing people consume a competitor's products at your tables. That rationale requires two things: other customers to see it, and the outside item to actually compete with what you sell. Otherwise you’d stop people wearing clothes or holding a phone because you might sell them one day. 😅😅😅
Neither applied. The room was empty, and a coffee is not a substitute for a katsu curry. We weren't drinking coffee *instead of* ordering your food. We were about to order your food *as well*. Pure stupidity.
If it mattered, it should have been said before we were seated, not after we'd sat down, or stick in on the wall, but even then that’s a stupid rule for something not competing. We didn’t exactly bring in a laptop to work for free etc. it was lunch, which turned a policy into an accusation. Instead, staff managed to convert a guaranteed sale into an empty table in an already dead restaurant, plus a one-star review on top.
Genuinely one of the most self-defeating pieces of customer service I've experienced. Won't be returning, and I'd suggest management explain to staff what their policies are actually *for*.
When i ordered online they gave me a pick up time over 30 mins later and then when I arrived they smiled and told me it will be another 20 mins with no apology. It then arrived after 30 mins. At £85 for 4 people It is twice as expensive as a good chinese takeaway so not worth it with this service
Normally i love this restaurant but recently when ive been ordering the small takeout box, the lady at the front doesn't even fill it up all the way to the top, she fills it up below half way?? I spend £7 to be fed, not be handed scraps. Truly disappointing
However, eating in is nicer.
As much as I love the food at Solihull UK yakinori I have previously given glowing reviews about yakinori however I went to pay with cash the other day and was completely turned down to buy food with cash this was at high inconvenience and disappointment my review on the outstanding food and staff hasn’t changed however the decision to only take card payments is really disappointing.
A present from my Daughter for her Father on Fathers Day - a cooking experience for her Father and Daughter. It was amazing friendly and they were part of a group. Everyone was looking forward to the evening. They were guided through the preparation of Sushi and other Japanese meals and brought their handywork home. I thoroughly recommend the experience
Evan was great! Always great to eat at Yakinori (:
I adore the Bristol Yakinori - it's my go to place for a meal out (went last night before watching something at the hippodrome) .
The food is always wonderful - had the teriyaki duck bao buns and katsu curry which do tend to be my go to - delicious.
The staff are also amazing - highly recommend!
We visited Yakinori in Park Street, Bristol, at a slightly odd time of mid-afternoon after an appointment. Even at that time it was fairly busy but the service was excellent. Great tasty food, good value and super friendly reception from Mo and his crew. What more can I say? We'll be back, for sure. Yum.
