What is the point in a dedicated business line when they conditionally asking the same questions and been put on hold and pushed on to team after team and getting nowhere fast.
AIB = All Is Bad! Gross Negligence and Incompetence – Avoid AIB
I am writing this to warn others about the appalling level of service and sheer clerical incompetence at the AIB Westport branch.
On Monday, 9th February, I drove an hour to this branch specifically to close all my accounts. Despite the bank being empty, I was kept waiting for OVER AN HOUR to complete a simple request. I followed every instruction given by the staff member at the customer desk: I cleared the remaining balances (€22.50 and €4.75) in cash on the spot because they "couldn't accept a transfer," and I handed over my physical bank cards. I was explicitly reassured that my accounts would be closed the moment I walked out the door.
I have now discovered that none of my accounts were closed.
To make matters worse, AIB is now slapping me with additional bank charges on accounts that should not exist. It is entirely unacceptable that a customer is penalized for the gross negligence of staff who failed to process a simple closure after an in-person visit.
I live an hour away and have already fulfilled my "in-person" obligations. I will not be driving back to fix a mistake made by your team without seeking full compensation for my fuel and time.
I expect an immediate reversal of all accrued charges and written confirmation that these accounts are closed. The lack of professional accountability here is staggering. Save yourself the headache and bank elsewhere.
I am with Revolut now and WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

I have been a customer for the bank for 10 years. It has a poor service in all areas possible. They charge for service that I do not use and then charge again if I don't have enough money. It's like a loop where they make money out of nowhere using customers for this. Unfortunately, Ireland always ask for an Irish bank so I they have locked me in. Looking forward to move everything in Revolut as they are fair competitor and do not take advantage from customers. Also I don't believe AIB is doing well. They're getting smaller and I hope to see more competitor taking over and offering better service.

Paid off a loan early after some payemnt issues with it, but I resolved it with them, or so I thought. I considered it gone as it was due to expire in February and I had cleared it. Discovered today that my overdraft facility was cancelled and nobody understood why when I rang them. Seems they charged € 3.31 interest on the paid off loan linked to my current account with the overdraft facility, They sold it off to some debt collector agency... I kid you not over 3.31 euro. Got shouted at that they had written letters and called about the outstanding debt many times but I didn´t understand what they were talking about.. I simply couldn´t work out what it was until I saw the 3.31 outstanding (had no letters). Seriously EVERYONE needs to leave this bank, it deserves no customers at all. I am with them since 2002.. and this is how I got treated. Horrible - AIB vanish from the face of the earth you are not worthy.

To be fair to them they did phone me back and tried to sort it out but we both understood that the fault was with the person who had opened my account who forgot to explain the very specific terms of this account .
Software and customer support failure
Tried to transfer funds between aib account and another bank.
Everything seemed to go fine, a few days later with no transfer in sight tried to call their support line for assistance and after 10 minutes trying to work my way through their pointless recorded messages I get told yeah it didn't happen just try again and hung up on.
Any bank in this country has as pitiful security measures as ulster bank had, the amount of technical debt, and general staff incompetence and rudeness is nothing short of astounding.
They do not deserve to be in business

Trying to move your mortgage to Allied Irish Banks is extremely painful.
The amount of duplication they expect on your side is ridiculous, and the number of mistakes they’ve made internally is hard to believe. I’m now on my third letter of offer because of their own errors. They acknowledge the mistakes, but that doesn’t make the process any easier.
At this point, I’m seriously considering sticking with Bank of Ireland. A difference of less than 1% just isn’t worth the hassle of dealing with AIB’s mortgage team.

Most brutal app around. On most attempts to access online, it takes 10+ inputs of reg. and PIN. Have deleted app and re-intalled numerous times. perhaps they could just copy or buy Revolut app?
AIB (NI) - The worst app I cannot use…
AIB (NI) - this must be the worst banking app I've ever tried to use. I have little confidence in a facility where you are unable to log in due to some technical problems with authentication. The reviews reflect the same frustration other users are finding and I am forced to simply log in with my browser. COME INTO THE 21st CENTURY AIB (NI).

Worst service ever. How is this bank still operating in this day and age with all the online options out there that are streets ahead? I just don't understand. And in addition to the service being abysmal, the service team is unfriendly.
