This is my third review

This is my third review. Since my products were not arriving after 3 weeks and after a plaint to PayPal, I was offered a reimbursement, which I NEVER received.

Bad service

I have been waiting for my order since I purchased it on May 16. It says will take 3-5 business and I’ve been checking my mail every single day because I was nervous as I sew they have not good reviews on their website. When I check the tracking number that they provide it said my package arrived on May 20 but I didn’t see anything. I sent them 2 email asking to check it for me because my order is quite a lot of money for me~$143( for college student is a lot ). There’s no any information get back to me, no updates. I’m so patient but now I can say this website is bad costumer service. I should listen to all the reviews our there. I wouldn’t order it again and I wouldn’t recommend anyone, too. I hope at least I will get a refund.

I haven't received any shipping…

I haven't received any shipping updates. Customer service is terrible. I contacted dozens of times. No one contacted me for almost a week. I haven't received my item and my money has been broken. From the account. Don't be fooled. Don't buy !!

I believe I've received an authentic product

I was so upset when I've read the other reviews after I placed an order that I was getting ready to fight and get my money back.
Just received my item and I inspected the box+bottle for a good 30 minutes.

I was 100% looking for a reason to send it back since I'm not interested in owning and/or using a fake skincare product on my face and I was so turned off by the comments that I didn't want it anymore.

First of, if you're used to luxury skin care, it's somewhat easy to feel/see that something is off.
I do however, have other products from the same brand including box+packaging and these were the same (same font, same color, same logo embossing, sealed, batch code was accurate, same smell, product texture really seemed normal, definitely a luxury 'unboxing' vibe).
The product I've received is all in Japanese but again, wasn't worried since I knew this is how it works.

I'm not discrediting people and saying they didn't receive knock-offs since I'm sure Akira isn't able to check each item/shipment they receive especially if they're based in the U.S but ship from HK.

I still think there's definitely room for error of them owning bad inventory and I'm not 100% sure I would buy a product I didn't own before from them again or I would want to double check texture/packaging at a department store before using.

The only thing I personally found "suspicious" was the fact they were able to account for FedEx Express International Delivery from Hong-Kong to the U.S but I was happy to receive my item within 4 days.

I hope people were honest in their comments and aren't trying to return items unless they're 100% convinced/sure they've received a fake product.
I think Akira Beauty is good for replenishing. This company being new, I don't think they're equipped to handle 'buyer's remorse' or 'unsuitable skincare product' type of returns yet.

We source them from beauty markets all over the world from authorized distributors, manufacturers and high end department stores to ensure the authenticity. The shipping location is in Hong Kong, but the products are solely stored there for logistics convenience and distribution functions. 

Part of Akira Beauty’s business model is leveraging our international network to offer luxury products at a lower price point. Sometimes, this means you’ll see different packaging. This company cannot be trusted

This is an edit to my former review in which I had recommended them without any issues with my first order. Given that it had gone well, I ordered a second a time but there won't be a third time. It's been 2 weeks now and I haven't received my item. The delay isn't even the main problem. As many other reviewers have said, there is a complete disregard for any response to countless customer service emails and receiving calls. This is incredibly unprofessional and they are clearly not reliable. Even if things are cheaper, do yourself a favor and get your items from legit sites or the company website itself.

poor response fro customer service

I'm not going to review their product, however I'd honestly say their customer service is very poor. I bought an item that I wanted to return, and under their policy, as long as item is unopened untouched, you can return.

There is no response from Akira for this request. Continuous contact still failed. And I gave up.

I would stay away. Their not honest, and I can back my words because they actually returned one of my calls, and said that I can return. And they will follow up with an email with instructions. And that NEVER came. And from that moment, I guess they just ignored me.

I think people have a tendency to be…

I think people have a tendency to be afraid of the unknown. I was there too and also skeptical when I saw the prices.

However, after some digging and making 3 orders thus far, I'm convinced of their authenticity. Each time the order arrived timely and well packaged. For my first purchase, I only ordered items I've previously used before. I didn't notice anything, whether the packaging, smell or texture of the product to be any different from the authentic product.

My later 2 purchases were products I've never bought before so I couldn't attest to their authenticity from personal experience. However, I did do some pretty deep online digging on fake vs authentic comparisons and didn't see any red flags.

In regards to products being expired. This never happened to me either. There are websites online (Google them) that you can use to check the manufacturing dates and expiration dates. It's funny actually the products I received from Akira were all manufactured in 2019. I've ordered some expensive skincare from Bergdorf this past months and after I checked, they are actually older from 2018.

For people not familiar with luxury skincare/makeup, the gross margins are really high. Take Estee Lauder as an example, the cost to make the products is not more than 20% of the price. The majority of the cost they incur are selling expenses such as marketing, retail space and administrative. If you take this in mind, it's actually not that surprising why Akira can offer such competitive prices.

Anyways, I'm not trying to convince anyone. The less you guys buy, the better it is for me. They run of out stock constantly though, which is annoying. :(

I would avoid purchasing

The item I purchased from this company is not the same quality as those I have purchased from authorized retailers. SkinCeuticals has advised to avoid purchasing from this website.

AVOID AKIRA BEAUTY.COM! The return policy is crap! If you open your products and try them they won't return it. It doesn't matter if it just runs down your face and into your eyes. So I spent over 150.00 on a product that I can't use at all. Who isn't going to try a product? So I think its worth paying more with a better company where the return polices aren't absurd.

products different from those in U.S. retail stores

I've been using Estee Lauder products for years now, the products I received from Akira Beauty looks, smells, and has a texture that is completely different from the ones I got from creditable U.S. retailers such as Sephora and Nordstrom.
