They charged for a premium delivery and…
They charged for a premium delivery and did not deliver as promised. The sweets were not rapped properly with cling film and it had leaked all over. Their customer has not responded yet when I informed them about the delivery. Poor service.

Staff are not able to deal with…
Staff are not able to deal with complaints. Ordered sweets online for collection on 1st of July. Gave out as gifts on same day. Got phone calls next to say the sweets smelt of chemicals and had mould . Very embarrassing. When I called ambala on gorgie road staff was very unhelpful. Went to shop on 3rd July was served by a girl who said she couldn't do anything even though some of the sweets I retrieved from relatives proved that they were off and smelt of chemicals. She only replaced them but when we got home most of the sweets still smelt chemically.
Have emailed the company for refund and for an explanation.

Pricy but tasty
I really like Ambala sweets and savouries no doubt the best in taste in my opinion but they are very expensive compared to other shops.
Even a carrier bag is charged no matter how much you spend.
I travelled all the way from central London to collect what I paid for yesterday and as it was left behind I made the trip so I was refunded the amount but any other shop would offer a complimentary sweet or savoury for going all the way there.
Also an hour's journey but nothing sadly. Therefore I can't rate it a 5star.

The Mitai was a birthday gift. Arrived slightly squashed and packaging needed to be more today to prevent this therefore not appealing when opened

Stone in my sweets - I would actually give zero stars
I would actually give zero stars. On 15 May, my Dad’s 92nd b’day I bought sweet and savoury items from Ambala, Swindon. During the celebrations, I nearly broke a tooth as I bit into a stone in one of the sweets. When I reported it the next morning, the staff didn’t seem to know who owned the store and could share who to contact for a safety incident. After a number of calls, someone from Ambala called but was quite defensive on sharing their full name. I arranged to hand over the stone but since then - absolutely no follow up whatsoever and no investigation findings shared. I think that’s terrible customer service. Why would you do that to a customer?

Gone down hill since sale of Ambala…
We have always ordered our Indian sweets from Ambala. The sweets were lovely and always extremely well packed to avoid damage and the delicate sweets becoming squashed during transit. However, since the sale of Ambala (I think to Cakebox), ordering has been poor. I made a large order of sweets previously and was charged but received no order confirmation or sweets and had to claim my money back. Today a relative received sweets as a gift and the packaging is poor and the sweets arrived squashed together. Also the outer box has directions on it, but these always seem to be ignored by DPD whose staff appear not be able to read and follow instructions!
