We have been a customer for decades. Generally good service most of the years but fees and overall costs climbed much faster than the competition. Decided to change propane companies. It took several calls and being on hold about an hour each time to talk to a person. Even tried chat but that was not much better. After finally getting a hold of a real person I got transferred again. Apparently no one was authorized to cancel service. Finally got to the right person after many hours of frustration and constantly hearing the same recording over and over on how they transferred their customer service to the U.S. to better serve me. By this time the competitor tank I ordered was installed and the 120 gal already rusty used replacement tank AmeriGas delivered several years ago was sitting to the side ready to pickup. I was told it was $443.08 to dispatch a driver and pick up the tank. I was told we agreed to this somewhere in the decades of time we were their customer. They told me no one reads the fine print. Please take a moment to scan many of the other reviews. I have never experienced this poor of service from anyone and a company willing to take total advantage of long term customers. Shameful at best.

Customer for 22 years. Finally did a price comparison and was shocked at the difference compared to other local propane companies. America was charging $4.969 a gallon. A local propane company quoted $2.20 a gallon. We decided to go with the local company. We called Amerigas to discontinue service with them. Calling them was a major hassle. The rep that we talked to didn't have a polite tone and told my wife that she could only talk to me as I was primary on the account. I told the rep that I was giving her permission to talk to my wife. She said that I was the only one she would talk to. I asked to talk to her manager. So she transferred me and I was put on hold only to be told that my wait time was 70 minutes. Finally we did get to someone that said that there was a $299.99 pickup fee and $119.99 service dispatch fee. The local propane company we signed up with came out and disconnected the tank and Amerigas' pressure regulator. They also moved the Amerigas tank to a convenient location for Amerigas to pick up. A week later Amerigas came to pick up the tank. Just one driver. So what is the Service dispatch fee for? We did fill up our new tank at the price of $2.10 per gallon.
So beware of price gouging and terrible sevice.

Signed up for a new account and was offered .25 off per gallon with code "SAVE25". When Amerigas called me to set up delivery, the rep said she didn't see that on my account . I told her, I have a screenshot of an email confirming the price quoted..she seemed doubtful. I told her I would send the email which came from Amerigas with the coupon price applied.....the call ended abruptly.

I called 7 times yesterday, I was traveling, so I could not be on hold indefinitely. After being on hold for 61 minutes, they did come on, I was just boarding the plane (Murphey's law at work) and could not hear the rep very well, I did make out that the tank pick-up fee was $419. I told her to stop my service and I think she told me to contact someone else. Today, I'm shopping around and see that AmeriGas is $1.30/gal higher compared to other propane companies. I could not find any place online on how to terminate my service or the price on tank pick-up fee.

$419.00 to close account and pickup 120 gallon tank. they charged almost double for propane from other companies. tank rent was $150.00 per year.

We have called these people at America’s for weeks now and they will not come to pick up their tank. No one knows anything and told me that they don’t know when they are coming out. We do not have a balance and they still don’t want to come get it.

My Dad was a customer & continued to have issues with being billed with NO delivery. The last "delivery" was for over $400. THE TANK WAS ALREADY FULL. He does not cook with his stove & uses very little hot water. So he switched companies. I called them & told them to come get their tank. It took them months & when they finally came, no receipt was left. They have since sent the last bill to collections & have not credited the full tank of fuel they took back!

Trying to get tank collected. 3.5hr hold time & counting. No one seems to be able to help.

I have been an AmeriGas customer since 2006 and to say that anything they offer is customer “service” is an absolute joke. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. The only reason I stuck with them for so long is because no other service was available to me in my area. Their per gallon amount is almost $2.50 higher than the company I just signed up with, and this is the rate for a customer who has been with them for literal decades. And to top it all off they’re charging a removal fee of $420. $121 of that fee is a “dispatch fee.” So ridiculous. If dispatching a truck to one of your regular customers actually costs your company $121, you need to fire your dispatchers! And $299 to pick up a tank that you own, that has already been disconnected…?? There is nothing positive I can say about Amerigas. If you are thinking of signing up with them, don’t. In addition to this, throughout the years, every single transaction/contact I've had with them in the 20 years I dealt with them has been fraught with issues. Too many issues to mention. Just a constant frustration. As I said, before you sign up with this company, think about it long and hard. If you're forced to deal with them as I was, be ready to be annoyed and taken advantage of.

I I bought my new home in 2019, and it has a jacuzzi with a gas heater. Now I’m trying to get the jacuzzi ready for next winter. I called Amerigas to have the tank filled, but they told me I needed to swap it first. I scheduled an appointment, but the company didn’t show up or call to explain. When I called them, I was told I needed a survey before they could plan the service. I have now scheduled the survey three times, but no one has shown up, and I always have to call to reschedule. I have already lost four workdays, and the service still isn’t done. Is Amerigas actually able to provide this service?

Worst company ever no customer service called for 3 months to have tank picked up because they keep charge extra fees know they want to charge me $419 to pick up there tank never been charged to pick up tank this company has fees for everything they wanted to charge me 200 to fix there tank I rent from them .wouldn’t recommend them to worst enemy

We just got completely screwed on a propane delivery in Bloomingdale, GA from AMERIGAS

Amerigas charged us $4.55 per gallon for propane in Bloomingdale to the tune of $574 for just 126 gallons.
The current going rate in the Savannah area is around $3.15/gallon with the cost of diesel; $2.95 per gallon.

They overcharged us by roughly $170 on one tank.
It took them 2 weeks to show up, and they wanted to charge for a leak inspection. You can't inspect if the tank is 25% full. Ridiculous price!

Complete rip-off. Stay away from Amerigas in Bloomingdale. They will take advantage of you.

Horrible Service...in EVERYWAY! VERY EXPENSIVE, much more than local.... Plus even after 32 years with them (Auto Deliver, AUTO PAY) I ran out during the Cold Feb 2026 Snow and they told me they couldnt deliver for 10 days. I had paid my rental in Nov 30, 2025. I thought I was still good without the need of gas... but THEY LET ME DOWN! I live alone and am a senior... with now family in OK and this is how Amerigas treated a 32 year customer. NOW, they have sent me a Late Charge on a Tank Removal charge I was never informed of!!!! $389.14.

Also... there is no Customer SERVICE.... wait an hour or longer... maybe you will chat with something.... NO REAL CUSTOMER SUPPORT at alll

In February I emailed Amerigas. Never heard back. Last Friday I called and waited 35 minutes to speak with a representative and ended up hanging up. Today I waited 45 minutes and ended up hanging up. I then logged into my account to do a chat and to no avail, waited 32 minutes while Amelia (chat bot) was "connecting me to an agent..." - to which I was never connected to. It is horrendous the "service" they do not provide. As soon as I get my issue resolved I will have them come and pick up their tank for a gazillion dollars and then take my business elsewhere. Should be ashamed of themselves!

They have been giving my 94 year old mother the run around for months. She needed a new tank and then have it filled. Took months. They would schedule but then not show up. We were told she had a credit balance but then added a bunch of fees for service they didn't do and now claim the account is past due. Their "customer service advocates" only advocate for the company. They are not authorized to adjust anything, then when they say they are transferring you to someone who can it goes to the phone tree. They have not responded to my complaint. Apparently the CEO is a turnaround specialist, but so far nothing seems to have turned around.
Basically it is a useless company.

This is a world class horrible company for customer service.
Your house could blow up way before they answer a telephone.
They never return phone calls; all they do is frustrate you with telephone wait times of close to an hour only to tell you it’s another department and their lines are busy.
Don’t do business with them!

15 years ago I purchased a propane tank I had been renting from Amerigas. Then, a few year later, they started billing me again. I called and proved that I had purchased the tank and they removed the bill. But then started billing me again and now refuse to remove the bill. And their customer service is almost impossible to talk to. I'll never use this company again.

Amerigas is the WORST propane company I have ever dealt with. The service is terrible, their propane tank rental fees are outrageous, their customer service is the poorest I’ve ever seen. Be prepared to wait on hold for 30 minutes minimum. If Amerigas was the last propane company in my area, I would swap my whole house over to electric so I wouldn’t have to deal with them. I’m closing my account and now they’re charging me $453 to pickup the propane tank. There was 10% propane left in the tank that I’m not getting credit for. This company sucks. Find another propane company….anyone is better than Amerigas!

I had to pay a fee for Amerigas to deliver my tank about 2.5 years ago. I have sold the home and need the tank to be removed. Now they want to charge me $299 to remove the tank and another $149.99 for early termination of the "3 year contract". I HAVE SOLD THE HOUSE!!! I no longer need their service. And they are going to take their sweet time completing the removal request. "It may take up to 2 weeks". Not sure what is going to happen when the new owners bring in a new tan and the Amerigas tank is in the way. Not to mention that every time I have tried to call and get customer service, I have to wait FOREVER for them to answer. Waiting over 40 minutes for a person to answer is just typical for them. They promised me that they would install a remote tank monitor when they installed it and never did. Their website also sucks. I called in over 6 times trying the get them to fix the website because after over 4 refills, the site still showed that I never completed the original tank fill after having the tank delivered. Terrible!!

If I could give fewer stars I would. I’m trying to get an old tank removed from my yard but the only way to talk to an actual human is to pretend like you’re a new customer. Then they transfer you and put you on hold forever. Too bad there’s nobody to answer the phones. I just want this tank gone, not a runaround.
