“We came in for a browse"
“We came in for a browse. We left considerably poorer, briefly the owners of an ornament the size of a small child, and absolutely delighted.”
Let me set the scene. Two grown women. A beautiful showroom. A combined budget that, in hindsight, was more of a loose guideline than an actual financial commitment. And then, Girish and John.
These two gentlemen are, without question, the most dangerously charming sales duo in the furniture industry.
Think of them less as sales advisors and more as very stylish enablers. They should honestly come with a warning label: “Prolonged exposure may result in spontaneous purchases and a significantly lighter bank account.”
My sister and I changed our minds so many times that lesser men would have quietly hidden in the stockroom and pretended to check inventory. Not Girish and John.
They smiled, they joked, they pivoted, they suggested, they waited. They had the patience of two men who have clearly seen it all before and found it quietly entertaining. We were, to put it gently, a lot.
And Then Came The Ornament.
My sister — swept up in the magic of it all, in a furniture display room that is, it must be said, considerably larger than any room in her actual house fell head over heels for a gorgeous ornament a "Silver Apple", its was Hugh, but truly beautiful definately a statement piece or conversation starter. Truly enormous. It was the kind of ornament that demands its own postcode. Reader, it did not fit. Not in her hallway, not in her living room, not in her life as currently constructed. It had to go back.
And here is where Girish and John truly earned their five stars: not a sigh, not a raised eyebrow, not even the faintest flicker of judgement. The return was handled with as much grace and good humour as the original sale. Absolute professionals.
"A public service announcement for fellow shoppers: Andrew Martin showrooms are deceptively, gloriously spacious. Your home is not a showroom. Your hallway is not 40 feet wide".
That ornament, that lamp, that statement armchair — measure first, dream second. We learned this the hard way so you don’t have to. Bring a tape measure. It could save your dignity and a very awkward return trip.
If you visit, ask for Girish and John. Bring your tape measure. Leave a little extra room on your credit card. And maybe — maybe — ring your partner before committing to anything taller than yourself. Such a beautiful shopping experience thank to Girish & John.... We will be back, the best quality product, the best customer service.
