To be honest, I use the account for weekends when I go out. It is something good for people who want to set a few hundred dollars away. I also think it is a good idea for parents or guardians to give to their children or dependents where they can safely send them money. We have to understand that this is digital banking system as well. I believe the purpose is to get minorities to deposit their money into a bank to protect their money and avoid all these cash and deposit fees. I think we need to sit down and have a conversation with the founders as well as Coastal Community Bank to see how we can make this experience better.

Horrible institution! Mobile deposited a check on the 6/20 sat pending until today Checked status said banking difficulties by on their end and deposit would be there today by customer service Instead deposi has disappeared with no explanation no money and no one reached out via emil or phone. I had to call and still received no answer. No way is this a black owned black no one speaks English clearly- Supervisor supposed to call or email me - nothing. Just horrible all the way around Glad I found out now and switched my direct deposit

This bank sucks, please do not trust them with your money.

I have had my direct deposit stolen from my account, not once but twice!! No one has gotten back to me. The their was able to change my routing and account number to another bank outside of greenwood. The worst part is no one will call me back, I just keep calling and creating "tickets" to receive a call back! It's shameful!!

Do NOT bank with Greenwood. There is no benefit to do so. They will hold deposits and refunds longer than necessary and give you excuses like, “We do not see s deposit/refund,” If the wait time for a refund or deposit is 7-10 business days, count on waiting that entire time. No worth it.

Horrible company, Horrible customer service I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS BANK TO MY WORST ENEMY

I experienced fradulent charges and they refused to conduct a diligent search or return my money. I have not been able to contact anyone and have been getting the run around. So sad that this "socially conscious" company is literally taking advantage of the people it claims to serve.

I’m a young black man how works very hard I was on the waiting list for this card when. Worst experience ever they won’t release my money from a transfer from my Marcus Savings account I have called no one picks up. The worst feeling is knowing that these people are your people which clearly doesn’t mean nothing back to the white man bank accounts I go. Please stay far away. Still waiting for my money an email and a call. God bless.

It has not been a pleasant experience. I filled case for fraudulent activity for $852.91 on 4/723 & have been getting the run around from customer service and supervisor since then. I was told I was eligible for a provisional credit but never received it & the so called supervisor is not verbally communicating with me. This is not a company for Black's and Hispanic put your money with a bank that cares.

Terrible experience. No communication with the customer or between agents. Complete waste of time. Held my check and then declined the deposit. Requested the original bank reissue the check only to find out Greenwood had indeed received the funds. They just took my money.

DO NOT…. I repeat….. DO NOT do business with Greenwood Bank regardless of what Killer Mike recommends.

They will not protect you and/or your money.

Got the invitation to apply. Went through the application process and got to the end and it tried to force me into an account that has a monthly or annual fee!!! Their website advertises a “FREE ACCOUNT” with NO FEES!!! I immediately stopped the application process and backed out of it. About an hour later, I receive an email that says “Congratulations your account is open and debit card will be mailed to you” ?!?! I immediately called them to CLOSE the account and none of their representatives could find any of my info in their system ?? How is it possible that I get an email that says I have an active open account and they can’t find me in their system??? In 20 years of banking and using Fin tech style banking apps, I have NEVER heard of this ?!?! And to make matters even worse, their representatives had the competency and literacy rate of a 6TH grader in Middle School 😑 I have now opened a complaint with both the BBB and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau!!! This company is a SCAM !!! You’ve all been warned!!!

Horrible app and horrible service. I signed up on the evening of April 18, 2023. Put money in my account. Then when I tried to log back in the password did not work. I tried changing the password… Every temporary number that it sent me did not work. He told me I was locked out. I called the next day. A gentleman answered and told me that I should be able to reset it now… I was frustrated, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Again it did not work. I called him back. He said oh you have to wait a little while… Wait a little while to change my password? I don’t know what is wrong with this freaking company I really don’t know. And Andy young you are a run far far away from this business. I did receive a Email this morning saying that my card was shipped to me. As soon as I get my card I’m taking all my money out. And I’m closing the account. I have accounts at several major banks. I thought I would try to support this black owned Hispanic on business. But I cannot tolerate this. Plus I read some of the reviews they are very scary… People are losing their money left and right . Make matters even worse. I told him when I got my debit card I was going to close my account. He said okay. Did not try to get me to stay with the company.

I was unable to initiate a transfer from Greenwood to another bank account.  Emailed and called, no one could tell me why.  Access to ATMs to take money out is a joke, and I reside in a large city!  The ATM locator in the Greenwood app actually says to deposit money, nothing about how to withdraw cash without incurring fees!  Tried to use the card at another bank......it would not even READ the card.  I looked past the glitches in the app, the app constantly removing my password and forcing me to sign in rather than use the offered biometrics sign in, the compromising of my account and then charging ME for a card replacement, and the very limited customer service.  My confidence in the "service" and the security of my deposited funds has waned.  

I was so eager to support the cause, but Greenwood has let me down.  They need to do better if you expect people to support.  I now have to wait 15 days for a check to be issued and mailed to me since I just closed my account.  I'm beyond disappointed.

I would give zero stars if I could. Greenwood Banking is a complete scam. They are not a "Black Owned" bank and definitely are not a top-of-the-line banking technology. Their app is crap. Customer service is crap. And all of the services and products they offer are scams. Don't bank here.

I opened this account to support black own businesses. As this is a bank, it is a rarity in the black community. A short time after opening the account, I began seeing charges to my primary bank (USAA) in the amount of $10, from Greenwood. As the title suggests, I never signed up, or requested special services to warrant such a fee. Upon contacting Greenwood on the date indicated, I was assured the account was closed, and the charges to my primary bank would stop, but the continued. I sent mail, after email, only for them to go unanswered for days, with innocuous replies such as "please provide your full name (already enclosed on the email), email address (duh!!!), DOB, and last 4 of SSAN. All of which were provided in the initial email to the bank. This further delayed the email replies from Greenwood. Meanwhile, I have been unable to withdraw the funds from the account, nor have I received any correspondence from Greenwood indicating when I would receive the funds remaining in the account. Lastly, the online access to the account still remains, and does not show it as being closed, as requested.

Why when I received my card, my account information states the bank name as Coastal Community Bank. After reading the reviews, now I'm very skeptical them. Who is fronting who?

At best they're completely incompetent and understaffed, but they seem like they're probably a full scam, designed to steal your money. It's been hard to tell, but I'm withdrawing everything I have in that account. Every time I've deposited $1000.00, the transaction duplicates and they refused to fix it - even though I've contacted them immediately each time. The most recent deposit of $1000.00 duplicated 5 times, resulting in $6000.00 in withdrawals from the other account, all with the same timestamp. I talked to three customer service representatives, and a manager - all told me that my other bank would have to fix it - i.e., "Maybe there's something they can do." was literally the only help they gave. Today, a really aggressive person named "Cherrie", from the compliance, fraud, and security department, or something like that, told me that she was going to lock my account based on "unusual activity" on my account - activity that they advised me was my only option. They're super rude, totally unhelpful, totally incompetent, and overall in no way trustworthy. I liked the idea of a black-owned bank, but this ain't it - this is just another scam set up to rip off black folks.

At First I really liked the bank because I wanted to really support a black owned bank. But my first card came up stolen then I ended up with charges from Avis Rent a Car for $3500 and $528 in toll fees. At the time I had $1284 in my savings. My spending account was negative. I disputed both charges mind you both of these charges was made with the same canceled out card but the only approved the dispute for $528 and denied the $3500 saying they had documents they could send me telling me why they made that decision. But I haven't received any documents plus it's like I didn't even get the 528 due to my account being in the negative. All this was back in November 2022 here it is 03/23 and they did a negative writeoff on my account instead of giving me my money. Then the said I can't access the $1284 that's in my savings til the bank reaches out to me but I was on the phone with them why they couldn't tell me anything then I will be making a legal complaint if I don't get all of my money back. That's to much money to just let go of.Then what kind if bank don't give you your savings account number. They told me it was no way of finding out what it is that BS and they know it .

This company locked my account after I reported fraud. $2,000 was charged to my account while it was locked. They cannot explain to me how this happened, told me I had to wait for pending charges to go through. After the charges was processed, they determined there was nothing wrong. They will not return my money. They will not let me speak to a fraud department. They will not let me speak to management. I reported to BBB, FDIC & CFPB. Does anyone have any advice on what else to do? Seeking all advice, suggestions or support.
