EXCELLENT SERVICE & PRODUCT

Prompt order processed & delivered super quick time on the day promised. Stools easy to assemble, and very comfortable. Amazing value & look great in our new kitchen.

Purchasing the stools and the stools…

Purchasing the stools and the stools delivery was absolutely perfect.
We were thinking of reupholstering our old Kitchen Island stools but it was going to cost more than buying two brand-new stools which we absolutely adore thank you very much.

Ordered 4 chairs

Ordered 4 chairs . Came quickly and very pleased with them so ordered another 3 over the phone. Assistant was very helpful, checking she had the stock with the warehouse before she took my money, Thankfully they did and I am delighted with them. Good price and ideal height for my pool/dining table which is higher than a regular dining table.

The product is amazing and we love our…

The product is amazing and we love our Astrid Barstools. They are so comfortable and exactly fit what I was looking for.
The customer service was excellent.
However, the 4 stars relate to the slightly false advertising that they were in stock, they 'had just sold out after I had paid and purchased. There was no update on the website to suggest they had sold out and remained in stock with next day delivery for the whole period I waited for them to come back in (early November to early December). So not next day delivery. I was told there was an issue updating the website but it might make more sense to stop any payments going through if they are out of stock. That said, when I was informed of the situation, I was kept up to date for when they were due in and they arrived exactly as I was informed, so great customer service. I would absolutely recommend this company but perhaps call them before ordering in case you were urgently looking for something. I should also add I was offered a discount because of the delay which was kind of them.

Avoid This Company. I Wish I Had!

Placed an order on 2nd September. Received an email to say the products I had ordered were out of stock (despite still showing as in stock on the website). Offered a 20% refund if we accepted the 'short delay', which we did.

Heard nothing by 15th November so emailed for an update. Received a reply to say they were due in the country beginning of December and we should have them mid-December.

Hadn't heard so emailed today, 15th December. Received a reply to say that they have been delayed until end of January.

I wish I could share the screenshot here, showing that as of TODAY they are STILL in stock and available to buy on the website.

Avoid this company at all costs. Updated my review because they are trying to get it removed. But it is 100% fair.

UPDATED Following Response:

- I would direct readers of my review and the Barstools' response to other reviewers who have experienced the same issue.

- the long and detailed follow up email offering a discount because you were out of stock seems, in hindsight, a generic template that is sent out every time this happens.

- at no point did you say 'we have one, would you like that now' (not even when you contacted me the day after my purchase: you said you had no stock, so I dispute your claims that you had/have had one in stock for three months).

- At NO point did you contact me about the delays, other than the email immediately after purchase telling me you're out of stock, and offering me a discount to wait (as per other negative reviewers).

- I have had to email you for updates. Your last email end of November set the expectation that the products would be with me mid-December. It was only when I emailed that you said they weren't even in the country yet.

- Finally, when I posted this review yesterday you agreed to a refund. And then you called, asking countless times if I would accept an alternative product. Despite my repeatedly asking for a refund you clearly didn't want to take no for an answer.

I have no faith in your brand, your promises or your customer 'service'. You ultimately tried to help, but not because you care about customer experience. You were in damage limitation mode.

My review therefore stands.

You ordered two items; we had one available. That position has not changed, which is why the website correctly continues to show one item in stock.

At no point were you refused a refund. You were clearly advised of the expected lead time at the point the stock discrepancy was identified and were offered several alternatives to resolve the matter promptly. You chose to proceed and wait. Pre-orders are subject to change due to factors outside our control — a standard and well-understood process.

Despite this, we extended a goodwill discount, responded to your enquiries, and processed your full refund immediately upon request — the same day you chose to cancel. This was always your entitlement and was never disputed.

Why didn’t I read the bad reviews

Why didn’t I read the bad reviews?
Trust pilot should put the bad reviews first.
Just like all the other people who have dealt with this company I feel very angry and I am amazed that this company can do this with peoples hard earned money.
Usual story, ordered stools for next day delivery, received an email after they had taken my £429 to say sorry out of stock, would you like to order something else.
Alternatively if you wait you can have 20% off.
No I don’t want to wait!!!! Where are people going to sit when they come round tomorrow??
If I had wanted different chairs I would have ordered them!!!!!
I now have to wait 16 days for a refund, this is sharp practice and utterly reprehensible!!!
AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!!!!

However, we strongly disagree with several inaccuracies within it and would like to clarify the overall experience.

Firstly, Trustpilot displays reviews in date order by default, and readers are free to filter reviews as they wish. We trust customers to form their own balanced opinions by considering the overall percentage of positive versus negative feedback, rather than selectively reading reviews that suit a particular narrative.

As with any retailer worldwide, stock can sell out faster than it can be replenished. When this occurs, we act transparently by offering suitable alternatives or issuing a full refund immediately should the customer choose not to proceed. This is a standard retail practice, not “sharp practice”.

Our refund time frame of up to 14 days is clearly outlined in our Terms & Conditions, which are visible prior to placing an order and agreed to at checkout. In your case, our records show that your refund was processed within 6 working days of cancelling, not the 16 days stated in your review.

Whilst we welcome all feedback and use it to improve our services and products, we do expect reviews to be factually accurate and fair.

I ordered One stool

I ordered One stool. This was to see quality and product before a bigger order. Within 15 of order being placed. I received an email stating the product was out of stock. I contacted customer service immediately and asked the order to be totally cancelled and the money not actioned on my Credit card.
I also asked for an email to confirm this. This did not happen so next day requested again. Eventually received an email to state order cancelled and money would be refunded. That was more than two weeks again and although the transaction was pending. The transaction was applied to card and now I am having to go through the dispute process.
Very disappointed and due to poor service I would consider before using this company.

I had called emailed and once I wrote this review which is a true account of what happened.
I am now being questioned and advised this post will be taken down.
Trust pilot is a place where consumers can come to advise and help others make informed decisions on their purchases. Once I wrote this review my money was refunded. That was one of the ways it spurred barstools UK into doing the right thing. I also had to take time out of a busy schedule to contact my CC to go down a dispute route. Advise to company do not advertise a product online that is clearly out of stock. Don’t offer an alternative after purchase and don’t take money from a customer that you know will not receive goods. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are genuinely sorry for the frustration this situation caused and we understand how disappointing it can be when an order does not go as expected.

That said, we would like to clarify a few important points to ensure the situation is accurately represented. Once an order is placed and a payment authorisation has been processed by the card issuer, we are unable to cancel the payment at that stage. The only option available is to reverse (refund) the transaction once it has cleared, which is standard procedure across card payments and is outside of a retailer’s direct control.

In this case, the full refund was actioned within the timeframe clearly outlined in our terms and conditions. Because the refund was processed well within this period, there was no dispute opened on the transaction from our side, nor was one received by the card issuer for the refund to be completed. While the transaction may have appeared as “pending” initially, this is determined by the card provider, not by us, and unfortunately we cannot prevent a pending transaction from settling before it is refunded.

In addition to issuing a full refund, we also offered alternatives and gestures of goodwill in an effort to resolve the matter as fairly as possible. We regret that these were not suitable for you, but they were made in good faith.

We also want to reassure you that the refund was not issued as a result of the review being posted. It had already been processed in line with our policies and timelines.

We accept your feedback regarding stock availability and appreciate it being raised. While stock levels can change rapidly, we are continually working to improve how this is communicated to customers.

We are sorry that this experience left you dissatisfied, but we respectfully stand by the fact that the refund was handled correctly, promptly, and in accordance with our stated terms. We appreciate you sharing your feedback and will use it to continue improving our service.

The issue has now been put right.

Update. I have now spoken to them directly, they were very helpful in putting things right.

Really disappointed with the product. There were missing items - one of the fixings bags had split open in transit and the other contained more Allen Keys (5 in fact) than bolts, the inner and outer packaging was really poor (insufficient for this type of product), there were major damage to two items (both bases were scratched and dented), poor fitting instructions (made more difficult by missing nuts and screws); I am still unable to put one of them together because of the an issue with the back rest.
They did offer a partial refund which I foolishly accepted; I even had to chase to get that paid.
All in all a very poor experience.

Great Bar Stools!

I recently ordered two Calia bar stools from Barstools.co.uk and I’m really impressed. They arrived much quicker than expected and the quality is excellent. They were great value for money and the stools feel sturdy, look great, and were exactly what I was hoping for.
