Moughenda’s retreat in Gabon July 2023’ was a turning point for my personal healing. This experience strengthened my relationship with iBoga, allowing access to the deepest cleansing I have experienced during ten years of plant medicine work.
Moughenda’s team guided me to a sacred knowing where relationship with my soul was born, while their foundational values of Truth, Trust and Love still resonate and guide my life path to this day.

This was the most intense, life changing and immersive 2 weeks of my life. Deep in the heart of the African jungle, you will stay in a village to experience and learn what the Bwiti tradition has to offer to you and to the world.

The staff and the villagers, mainly French speaking, are charming and helpful. Moughenda is an incredible teacher and you can trust him to guide you where you need to go.

The accommodations are somewhat rudimentary for a westerner but you adapt very quickly, like the hundreds that came before you. I actually miss the simplicity of living there.

And to finish, the bwiti tradition.... let's just say it can help change the life of many westerners, like it did myself.

This year I went back to Bwiti House in Gabon from May - June 2024 to intern with Moughenda during the two month provider training. It was so great to return to the village and see how much progress they are making on the new buildings and upgrades for westerners coming for healing. During this two month trip I was able to work with the new provider trainees and retreat guest and watch their transformations. It so beautiful to assist people in healing themselves and falling back in love with their lives. I am excited for the new providers to get out there and spread this tradition and this medicine to the people that need it. Once again, Moughenda and his team took amazing care of me right from the start. He had people waiting at the airport to help us through customs, take us to our hotel, and drive us to the village the next day. I can't say enough good things about the care you receive from all of the people in the village during your stay. Everything is taken care of for you so you can really focus on your healing while you are there. If you are thinking of going to the village, now is a better time than ever. I look forward to my next trip there to see all my Bwiti family and the new progress being made to the village. Hope to see you out there!

The time in the Village was life changing to me. A time of deep introspection and an invitation to just BE.
Here are my reasons why time there was so precious:
- The beautiful and healing work of sacred plant medicine, iboga.
- The mentorship of Moughenda. What a knowledgeable, strong and kind man!

- The care and kindness of ALL the people who runs the Village. What a happy and hard working community.
- The experience of living in a none Western(alized) environment and the simplicity of living (less is more).

The village is now my home and I can’t wait to be back — my learning of Bwiti tradition has just started.

I highly recommend the Village to anyone for either provider training or retreats. It is the safest place to go deep into yourself.

Moughenda’s village is an awesome place to heal/ learn. There are many things to know about life and oneself in this special place. My experience was phenomenal and a little piece of my heart will always remain in Gabon, Africa.

I have been to Moughenda’s Village for Iboga Provider Training and rite of passage.
The team has been very helpful prior to my retreat. They answered all my questions through whatsapp. The medical assessment was very professional and I felt very safe prior to my training.

My experience at the village was the most powerful healing possible. Before coming to Iboga I went through probably every healing modality possible including psychotherapy, other plant medicines, homeopathy, breathwork, channeling, past life regressing, yoga, meditation, present moment awareness teachings and many more. All of those helped a little bit but never touched the root issue of my problems.
With Iboga and experienced staff in the village I was able to really look at myself, take responsibility for my life and how I take care of myself and love myself.

I am healed and prepared to provide this medicine in the most professional, safe and sacred way, including sharing ancient Bwiti teachings and counseling people to build a better life for themselves - just as I did.

I treasure this medicine and all the knowledge I received from Moughenda.

This was a transformative experience both in getting to know the Bwiti tradition, West Africa and myself. It was my first trip to the continent and they picked me up at the airport, helped me get a local sim and drove us to the village which was several hours away from Libreville, capital city of Gabon.

It was summer and somehow felt even hotter than summers in Thailand. Peak long sleeve tops and leggings for mosquitoes and no see ums. The food was delightful and the kitchen staff really lovely. All the staff were very kind and helpful. The village was welcoming and the group was really supportive.

The ceremonies were incredible and very different from any other plant medicine experience I've encountered. They use music, dance and iboga to help you journey deep within yourself to gain an honest perspective of your life and decisions. I would recommend this for anyone looking to get to know another culture and themselves in the process. I will definitely return.

Our son was at the Village for two and a half months for a complex detox treatment. Moughenda and the staff were patient, empathetic and extremely knowledgeable around meeting his needs and facilitating his physical and emotional and spiritual healing.
We are forever grateful.

Sadly, I am so bummed out tp spend all this money for nothing.
From the beginning many, many promises made and they didn't keep their words.
The accommodations they provide for the 2 weeks living situation should definitely better. They should have at least a night stand ,trash can or shelf for our stuff, not everything on the floor with one mattress in the room.
When we asked for things ,they kapt saying yes we gonna get it for you right away, don't worry...yet afyer 3days of begging to get the stuff we really needed still nothing! Half of the stuff were nice ,half of them just simple looked through you.
The most disappointed part was that the shaman didn't really care for us, always brush us off. At the ceremony he didn't journey us really. Sucks, because this is the reason why I went,to have a real Shaman guid and help me. Seem like they just want your money. Our group left super disappointed with this experience! They still owe us some money for the ride that we weren't supposed to pay for. Also a few days after they "offered" aftercare...which was also a false promise, no action behind their words!

Best choice I ever made. I am stronger in my ability to know myself and do what my soul really wants. I know I can go out and live life whatever it brings to me and I am truly grateful. Thank you to everyone at Moughenda Village.

My experiences with Moughenda and everyone in the village was simply amazing. I was there for the 2 month provider training. The physical detox and psycho spiritual work received was incredibly healing. During one particular ceremony I experienced the true essence of who I am. A knowing that doesn’t come from the mind.
Moughenda’s humility and dedication to his craft is easily noticeable. His patience with clients and students is exceptional! I’d visit every year if it were possible and highly recommend Moughenda as a healer and teacher.

I’ve tried many other medicines, countless retreats searching for peace but only ended up looking for the next retreat. From the moment I stepped foot in the Village I knew I was home. The warm welcoming smiles and authentic faces made my heart sing. I was at the end of my rope and desperately wanted to stop the seemingly endless quest of healing I’ve been on for years. What I received from my time at Moughenda Village cannot be expressed in any combination of words I can put together. Saying this was life changing is not correct, this gave me my life back. Moughenda is an amazing man with a great sense of humor. He has a very clear communication style and is unwavering. I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to be at the village and embark on this path of truth. I once heard, if iboga is calling then run to it. I am very grateful the time I spent in Moughenda’s Village. I showed up in June 2022 with a heavy heart holding onto addictions PTSD traumas etc. After completing my provider course, I left with a full heart full of love and gratitude for my process. being in the village gave me the opportunity to get my Healing to study Iboga. Without a doubt this was the most life-changing accomplishments I have ever achieved. Iboga has set me free of all of the beliefs that I was carrying as well as all of the negativity. Without this beautiful plant medicine I don’t know where I would be today. It’s been a little over a year since I’ve been to the village, my plan is to be back in 2024. I can definetly say that Iboga experience is one of the core and profound experiences that my whole life is based upon.

After certain experiences in my past, I've spent 5 years without understanding what life IS behind the fear. Fear was all I felt, untill it numbed me down completely. It has shackled my entire life leading me to severe depression and anxiety.

My story is unique in the sense that I came to Moughenda’s village because I found out that my ancestors came from the Missoko tribe and I came to come “home”. When I arrived my experience was one of deep personal healing and deep ancestral spiritual healing. I cherish this place with all my heart. Papa Moughenda is an extremely gifted teacher and mentor. I learned more about myself and what I am capable of (when I am the general in my life) in the time I was here than ever before. I am forever grateful to Papa Moughenda and to the my village family. I plan to return in the summer.

My Soul needed the energy & Life to begin living again after enduring unpleasant experiences & being stuck. This trip to Moughenda's Village was a commitment to my Soul to Heal myself and to live a authentic Life.
It's been 2 months since returning from the most sacred place that healed me & it is nothing short of a miracle. I have a deep reverence towards Moughenda, the medicine & everyone that helped me & walked me towards my healing.
Moughenda spoke & follows the Bwiti traditions that guides you to your Truth. I was well looked after when I had Malaria. Moughenda was so caring that inspite of driving for more than 3hrs he took me to the hospital right away at night. He made sure his son Dan was in the hospital for 9 days looking after me & the food, water was always delivered when I needed it.

Moughenda is Loved, Respected & Adored in his Village and the surrounding areas. The laughs, walk in the jungle, the traditions in addition to the Sacred Root Iboga contributed to me Healing.

My life was an absolute shambles. After suffering the effects of severe trauma from an early age, depression, suicide attempts, addiction and all that came with it, I was desperate.

I found and began speaking to Moughenda Mikala and he supported me remotely for many years before I eventually, and against all odds found my way to my people, in Moughenda's village.

Treatment for me was long and painful, but not in the way I expected. The taking of Iboga and engaging in ceremony was wonderful. I felt safe and cared for. Realising the extent of false beliefs I had and taking responsibility, reaching for the deepest and most painful parts of my being, was anything but pleasant. With realisation after realisation, the time I spent in the village, transformed me, mind, body and soul.

The people who helped and supported me through, the locals, have become my family now. My Bwiti family.

Now, every single day is a gift. Every element of my life has transformed. I am healthier, mentally and physically, than I have ever been. The experience has been a complete game changer for me and I am grateful for it every day. All of it.

I have a second chance now. Even though I am starting from scratch again, there is hope, where there was none.

My experiences in Moughenda's Village have been absolutely life changing. My first visit was focused on my healing and my initiation. It was fantastic to witness and be part of the beautiful ceremonies and to be guided by Moughenda and the medicine to get to the root of my issues with addiction and mental illness. The provider training deepens self knowledge and supplies the tools, techniques and training to help others. This is the place to be to connect with yourself, the truth, the medicine and the training. Moughenda is an amazing teacher and genuinely human, he is tough and he is loving.
