We traveled to Peru this summer with another school and an amazing Camp Leader, Andy, which I believe made the experience even more unforgettable.
There were some issues with our flights being delayed however Camps were excellent and got that sorted with no fuss.
When we were in Peru, the in country staff were fantastic. The pupils built great relationships with them as well as making life long friends with pupils from the other school.

The community work was a brilliant eye opener for the pupils to see the different lives we all lead and understand we do not all have the same opportunities in the world.

The trek was mind blowing, there were some challenging parts which allowed the pupils to push themselves and step outside their comfort zone with the reward of a stunning Machu Picchu.

I would say to anyone if you can do, do it. As a teacher I am so grateful for the adventure but for the children it will shape and change some of their decisions in where and what they do in life. Absolutely amazing experience.

The Camp's international trip to Cambodia was a truly life changing experience, for both students and staff. It was incredibly well organised and both staff and students felt supported while we spent a month in country. Shout out to Ben Howell for his presentation and support before and after, in country staff and camps staff who were always on hand to offer guidance and support.

As a lead teacher, I found the entire process with Camps International to be informative, well organised, and incredibly supportive from start to finish.

Our Regional Expedition Coordinator, Ben Howell, was an exceptional liaison throughout. Communication was always clear, timely, and professional, and he was on hand to answer questions and guide us through every stage of the journey.

Once in Cambodia, the in-country team were outstanding. Their organisation, attention to detail, and commitment to ensuring everything ran smoothly allowed both staff and students to focus fully on the experience. The logistics were seamless, and the team worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the expedition a success.

Most importantly, the impact on our students has been remarkable. The trip challenged them, broadened their horizons, and gave them experiences that will stay with them for a lifetime. Many returned inspired to travel more, learn about different cultures, and step further outside their comfort zones. It was genuinely a life-changing opportunity for many of our students.

I would highly recommend Camps International to any school considering an overseas expedition. The support before, during, and after the trip has been first class, and the positive impact on our young people has been immeasurable.

Took a group of students to Tanzania and could not fault the entire trip. Had the most amazing experience and the students have gained so many life changing experiences from this. Climbing Mount Meru was an unbelievable experience for our students and the safari was a real highlight seeing so many different animals! The company put so many things in place to make sure it was run so smoothly and the expedition leader was amazing. We were so well looked after in country and regardless of the location this was the same throughout. Truly a life changing experience for all!

I am absolutely disgusted with how Camps International handled our daughter’s cancellation.
She originally signed up for an Ecuador trip through her school. That school CLOSED. After the closure, there were no in-person meetups or real opportunities for her to get to know the group she would supposedly be traveling internationally with. She basically has no idea who these people are.
On top of that, she has now been diagnosed with autism. There is absolutely no way I am sending my autistic daughter out of the country with a group of people she does not know, especially after the school that originally organized the trip shut down.
We cancelled 9 months before before travel, and flights and major travel arrangements have not even been booked yet, but Camps International is still keeping $1,671 of our money. We were basically told they would not work with us any further and that their hands were tied by their policy.
From my perspective, keeping nearly $1,700 when nothing has even been booked feels like pure greed. They are not keeping the money because they already paid for my daughter’s airfare or hotel. They are keeping it because their policy says they can.
I will never book with Camps International again, and I will absolutely warn other parents about our experience.
Read every word of their cancellation policy before giving this company your money!!!

Brilliant experience, loved it and great support from company throughout

I travelled to Borneo for a 1 month expedition and it was one of the most rewarding, life affirming things I have done!

The whole process of fundraising and preparing to go was well supported and you were regularly checked in with. Each of the camps I visited out there were so friendly and in some incredible places. There were contingencies in place and protocols for if you couldn’t move to your next camp (e.g. bad weather/rough seas) and you felt very safe.

Honestly could not recommend working with Camps enough!

Absolutely amazing! I have been travelling with Camps since 2013 and would not use another provider. The experience is life changing for staff and students as well as the local communities that we help.

I recently returned from a 4 week Borneo scuba expedition, and honestly it was the best thing I have ever done. Every member of staff were so amazing and went out of their way to ensure we were all okay. I have had so much fun and have made friends that will last me a lifetime. I genuinely recommend anyone who is thinking about doing it, to go for it. I have come back such a better person than when I first arrived. I have memories that will last me a lifetime. I enjoyed the project work so much and there were always activities for us to look forward to. Borneo was the most magical place, and I want to thank camps international for all the support I have received, and for making this trip possible.

My experience was amazing, I can't believe all I have achieved throughout the 4 weeks I was in Tanzania. Camps international have really helped me reach better social skills and feel more confident in myself and to not be afraid to try new things, I really enjoyed every minute of it and I think I've come back a changed person.
My favourite moments were meeting all of the local children and getting a real insight into the life they live. I also really enjoyed all of the project work because it made me feel like I've really helped the community. I also really enjoyed the waterfall walk it was absolutely amazing along with the safari that was astonishing!! I left my trip feeling like a changed person and it's definitely made me feel like I'm going to apply to be a leader for camps international when I'm older, I would love to lead teenagers in the same way I was lead through such an outstanding experience. I have just gotten back from 4 weeks in Kenya. I found camps international a very good company to go with. they safety through out the whole trip was incredible and you always felt very safe, and the camps on a whole we so much better then I thought they would be and you always felt like you were at home. the volunteer work was great and always kept you encouraged, you also had a very good daily structured routine.

the food was better than what I thought it would be and a lot of the time you were fed a good meal. you got fed 4 times a day, and it was mostly nice.

I would say a big part of how your experience is depends on the people around you. my group bonded very well and everyone was close friends however at the camps when we shared it with other teams there were some bad encounters.

there we some bad things however. at camp Tiwi a security guard asked us for our numbers and there was poo on someones bedding at the wildlife foundation. I get that these things aren't directly camos fault however there should be a little bit more education. one of my expedition leaders weren't great and they would commend on peoples body sizes and treated children differently depending on how much she liked them.

overall I do rate camps international a good company to go with and I had a very good experience with them. I enjoyed my whole trip and it was very impactful.

Our leader was absolutely brilliant and that contributed greatly to a phenomenal experience

The experience was overall quite amazing. The support from the get go was excellent and in country was just as good. There were obviously a couple of hiccups however camp staff were quick to sort from the chefs all the way to the regional lead. Our Expedition Leader was exceptional and worked with myself and the other staff member from the school we were attached to as a great team.

It was incredible, they opened me up to so many experiences were incredibly welcoming and made every part of the trip an experience I will never forget!! I would recommend to absolutely anyone wether your a teacher or a student it may seem scary or unknown but once you get there you will absolutely love it.

My son has had an amazing 4 weeks in Kenya. Experience of a lifetime!!!

My son has just returned from his 4 week stay in Kenya . What an experience he’s had he’s loved every minute he’s learnt so much and he’s made friends and memories to last a life time . The project work and being able to adapt to different environments whilst making many new frie
nds and learning the culture

It was the best 4 week of my life but we weren’t allowed to put our heads under the water even in shallow pools. It was completely unfair considering that we were going to be scuba diving up to 18m deep.

Our daughter has just returned from a 4 week trip to Cambodia with Camps International. What an absolutely amazing experience she has had with her school friends. The trip has provided an invaluable opportunity to develop their practical and life skills, grow in confidence and grow as individuals.
Camps International were fantastic and extremely professional and well organised.
From day 1 they provided a wealth of information, supported the school and students with ideas for fundraising and kept in touch regularly with emails and information on their portal. Due to global conflict the flights had to be re-routed via a different airport and Camps International did all of this seamlessly without any inconvenience to ourselves.
The facilities at the camps and the way the camps were organised was impressive and the impact of the infrastructure projects that they deliver have a huge beneficial impact for the local communities. Our daughter especially mentioned how rewarding the projects were as the group could see the immediate impact that each project had on the local community. She’s already talking about how much she’d love to do another similar Camps International trip in two years!
I highly recommend Camps international.

I had two children attend this four-week expedition, and unfortunately, the experience as a parent was extremely distressing and, at times, felt like an absolute nightmare.

My son, who is on the autism spectrum, actually enjoyed the expedition and was keen to be there. Sadly, due to health reasons, he was unable to participate fully. My other son found the conditions extremely difficult and ultimately found the experience unbearable.

However, what I found most difficult was what happened from a pastoral and safeguarding perspective. For an entire week, I received daily calls informing me that my son, who is on the spectrum, might have to return home because the Camp’s International team felt that his needs could not be met.

As a mother, receiving repeated calls like this while your child is thousands of miles away is incredibly distressing. What made the situation even more upsetting was that extensive information about my son’s needs had already been shared with the organisation, alongside the pastoral support and guidance provided by his school, which had indicated that he could be appropriately supported.

The situation appeared to stem from a complaint I had raised regarding the behaviour and conduct of a Camp’s International leader. What was particularly disappointing was that I never felt my original complaint was properly addressed or resolved. Instead, the subsequent conversations seemed to focus disproportionately on my son being on the autism spectrum and whether he was the problem, rather than addressing the concerns I had originally raised.

As a parent, I felt incredibly helpless. I had trusted the organisation to look after both of my children during what should have been an exciting and memorable experience. Instead, I spent a significant part of the expedition anxious, distressed and worried that I might be asked to bring my son home.

I appreciate that expeditions can be challenging and that unexpected situations can arise. However, when parents provide detailed information about their child’s needs and have the support of the child’s school, I would expect that information to be properly understood, considered and acted upon before the expedition — not for the child and their additional needs to become the focus once problems arise.

My son may be on the autism spectrum, but that should not have defined his entire experience or become the reason repeatedly raised when concerns arose. The focus should have been on how he could be supported safely and appropriately.

Overall, this was an extremely upsetting experience for me as a mother. I genuinely hope the organisation reflects on how this situation was handled, particularly its communication with parents, its approach to children with additional needs, and how complaints are investigated and resolved.
