Camps International Reviews 

I feel so saddened to read these few negative reviews about Camps - they could not be further from my own experience! As a teacher (our school is just about to embark on it’s 5th expedition) I am so proud of what my students have achieved through the amazing opportunities with this company. I dealt with them throughout the pandemic and communication could not have been better, or clearer given the circumstances. We were able to choose whether to cancel and receive refunds, or to defer and then travel the following year as a team. Our in country experiences have been amazing, and this is with expeditions to 3 different country locations so we’ve done our firsthand research!

This has not been the only expedition company I’ve had experience with, and they are in my opinion, miles above the rest. The impact they have on local communities is immediate but also long lived, students get to immerse themselves in the culture of the country in a way I have not been able to achieve through my own ‘normal’ travelling experiences.

I cannot recommend them highly enough. Our students experienced a richness of travel and culture that had them waking up to morning yoga at the bases of mountains, swinging in hammocks on paradise beaches, visiting vibrant cities and staying in hostels with rooftop pools. And yes they did also sleep in a tent and eat lentils! How else are you going to fall asleep to the sound of orang-u-tans calling through the jungle?!

I do not need any persuasion to continue our link with Camps beyond the beaming faces of our most introverted students telling us the experience has been life changing, and that they cannot wait to venture out solo when they get back home, or get on involved in charity work, or volunteer in their local community.

I hope if you are considering joining a school expedition please remember that for every negative review there will be thousands of students who have had a positive life changing experience. It’s human nature to express our emotions when we feel hard done by. But these negative reviews are not the only story to be told.

Went on a Camps International trip to Sri Lanka back in 2014 with my high school. I absolutely loved the experience and got to try so many things that I would never have dreamed of. I clearly remember white water rafting, walking across a very high up rope bridge, and as far as I remember, all the accommodations were fantastic. We stayed in each place for 1-2 days, for a week ish in total. I’d recommend it and if I had the chance, I’d have gone on more myself!

Camps International have come in for alot of stick but this really isn't their fault. Covid has sadly changed international travel and taken away the opportunity for our young people to experience the wonderful staff and local people in Camps International locations. I have felt supported by CI they have been very honest to us. Options were suggested and they have been very reasonable. I have known 3 other families whom their sons/daughters have experienced CI and all gave glowing reports. I really hope that faith in CI will return as at the end of the day they have been and will continue to do amazing work in communities that need supporting.

I am very concerned that such an unethical Company
is allowed to operate taking children on school trips.
Refusing to make refunds paid for a trip to a Red Listed Country although the Government have recommended t no school trips abroad.
Why so much fuss about giving refunds.
The children have raised this money themselves -
it hasn't been handed to them on a plate.
Is this how you fund your Company?
Any prospective traveller's parents should take great care before signing up to a trip.

I have had to begin legal action to recover my money as 6 weeks after they cancelled the trip they have not refunded.

A horrible firm to deal with on every level!

Sadly I cannot give less than 1 star.

This has been an appalling experience and one that no individual, young person or school, should ever again have to face again.

With less than 9 weeks to departure, and with clear guidance from the Department for Education that the trip should not proceed, they insist they cannot cancel. Yet they cannot provide adequate insurance documents, they cannot provide any destination specific risk assessment; and the flight details they have provided are simply false.
A year ago this may have been excusable. Now it is not.
They have simply sent demands for payments and instructed young people to seek travel vaccinations from their GP in January, when 1400 people a day were dying. They lack any ethical or moral purpose. They hide behind legalese smirk at their cleverness and guile.
For your own mental and financial well being avoid them.

Absolutely disgusting company to deal with- they should be utterly ashamed at forging ahead pretending they are safely planning to take our young adults to red list countries! Poor communication except when demanding payments! Our school requested cancellation due to clause 8 “ unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances at the destination “ however camps refused this and then cancelled the school off the trip saying it was our disinclination to travel!!! The children have now lost their hard earned fundraising money and charitable donations! They know that parents and schools are always going to put the health and safety of the children first so they have scared many into cancelling thus allowing Camps to keep all the monies paid ! They have shown no flexibility during this pandemic and shown their true colours as a company!! They have also withheld insurance details and risk assessments - even the school has been demanding these with no joy!
Be warned ..... never get involved with them they do not deserve to stay in business!

Run by a bunch of incompetent weaklings. Camps International is an utter disgrace the way they are treating our children and their futures. They send demanding emails to pay all the money for a Kenya trip in 2021 but they haven’t got the backbone to cancel it themselves and take the hit. Utter COWARDS. Camps International hide behind the Government policies rather than stepping up and making the right decision to cancel. SHAME ON YOU. Never use this company again there are more honourable companies out there.

Unethical and greed driven behaviours, with no thought or care of the young people they pretend to care about in glossy marketing material.

Avoid at all costs, crooks.

My daughter was due to travel to Kenya with Camps International but due to the pandemic the school quite rightly cancelled the trip. The school were clearly more concerned for her safety than Camps appeared to be who continued to send us emails regarding preparation for it right up to the last minute. How can a so called philanthropic organisation not see what the school clearly can see? These trips to remote areas in a global pandemic are not safe. Also how can they justify keeping half the costs for themselves in a global pandemic situation? A real philanthropic organisation would issue a full refund and not hide behind contracts and legislation. Let's hope they distribute our retained money to the very people they claim to help. Shame on you Camps International and spend it wisely!

Genuinely awful company. They sell the company as ethical, but the truth is, they are not. They have offshore accounts, take your money even when the exped that has been paid for is in a red list country. Even our school have warned us to be very careful about this company. Do not under any circumstances send your child with CI, you have been warned. On the plus side, gold star for their sales team!!!

This business consistently puts profit before safety. Back in 2014 following terrorist attacks in Kenya and Arnewood school fears Camps International insisted travel was safe and would not refund. They are doing exactly the same with COVID however bad the local situation with required quarantine, lack of hospital beds, lockdown and curfew. Do not trust this company with the safety of your child. Can’t even supply an up to date risk analysis but keep demanding money.
