Update: After filing a formal complaint with them, my deposit was promptly returned on the same day. It is a shame really that I had to chase £250 and end up giving negative reviews and wasting time in such a manner while this could and should had been settled within a couple of days.
I visited the Cartime Rochdale branch on 23 April for a scheduled appointment. The sales representative I dealt with was initially very polite and helpful. I was looking at a newly arrived Nissan Qashqai e-Power.
As I wasn't 100% sure about the car, the salesman advised me to leave a deposit to secure it, giving me his explicit verbal assurance that it would be fully refunded if I chose not to proceed. Because the car was fresh in stock, the physical paperwork wasn't available, but I was allowed to take a photo of the service history from their computer screen.
Upon reviewing the photo later that day, I noticed the car had missed a service interval by 10,000 miles. As this voids the manufacturer’s 8-year battery warranty, I immediately emailed them (just hours after paying the deposit) to state I would not be proceeding and politely requested my refund, as agreed.
On 26 April, the branch manager called me and explicitly confirmed that my deposit would be returned.
Unfortunately, that was the last proactive communication I received. After the funds failed to arrive, I emailed their advice team on 11 May. I was told my email was forwarded to the Rochdale branch manager. Hearing nothing back, I called the branch on 14 May. The receptionist was aware of my case and said management would call me back. They did not.
As of writing this, I am still waiting for the refund that was guaranteed at the point of sale and confirmed by the manager. Based on my experience, I strongly advise against leaving any deposit with this branch unless you are absolutely certain you are buying the car, as getting your money back seems to be an incredibly frustrating and drawn-out process.
Poor service - Do Not Use!!
Poor service. Poor communication. Lack of after care. Don’t use them and avoid at all costs. I turned up and the car had scratches all over it. The offered money back to fix this but then came to the conclusion the miscommunication the finance details so I had to forego that money back and actually ended up out of pocket as the £500 deposit was not properly explained. Looks like it’s a recurring theme with this company. If I hadn’t travelled 400 miles for the car I would have 100% walked away. Raised a complaint and the person who deals with the complaints was utterly terrible. Round in circles and no resolution. Again, don’t use them!

I brought a car with this business. Spent £23,000 on a car. within 24 hours had multiple issues with the car. Took the car to an independent garage who told me the car had 4 issues & if i had of taken the car to them for an MOT, they would fail the car.
I have asked for my money back from the business who are now refusing to give me it. They are also doing their best to delay and stall any court proceedings.
I brought this car due to having a new born baby due in July. They sold me a car that had major faults with no care in the world that it could effect not only my life but a baby's life too.
I have all the evidence and am happy to send it out where i can to help save you your money.
To make matters even funnier, the sleezy salesman tried to upsell a vehicle to me when telling them of the issues the vehicle already had!

Avoid Cartime Bury at all costs. Buying this car and dealing with the aftermath has been an exhausting and incredibly frustrating experience from start to finish.
I rejected the vehicle because it was faulty, yet instead of resolving things properly, I was left constantly chasing for answers and fighting to get my money back. Cartime refunded most of the purchase price but held back £250 until they received the V5. They later confirmed they had the V5 and even told me the refund had been processed, but the money still hasn’t appeared and I’m having to go through the small claims court to to retrieve it.
I’m fed up with the empty promises, poor communication and lack of accountability. Every step of this process has felt like a battle and something that should have been handled professionally has instead caused unnecessary stress and wasted hours of my time.
I genuinely regret buying from Cartime and would never use them again. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing a car from them to think very carefully before doing so.

Car has damage to the carpet in the drivers footwell area which is going to cost me £330 to rectify none of this was pointed out at any point by the car salesman who dealt with me. Also upon addressing these issues with salesman who handled buying the car its like he isn't interested and keeps saying he will forward it to the service department then I dont hear anything back from him so I attend the Rochdale branch to see him in person and get told the same. Feels like im being fobbed off with excuses and him saying its a used car which ill have but I shouldn't be expecting to be forking out £330 to have the carpet replaced which is what stellantis have said it'll cost to rectify the issue as the whole carpet will need replacing as patching it up will result in mismatch in colour and not the same carpet

Bought a vw polo almost a month ago now, I keep getting coolant warning lights on the dashboard as well as an epc warning light. Upon inspecting the vehicle I have discovered the car has no coolant whatsoever and not a drop of oil, this could have been catastrophic for me and the car itself. Clearly the car was not prepped for my purchase. Following on from this the engine makes an uneasy rattling sound unusual for a vw polo. I have tried going down the rejection route as within 28 days under the consumer rights act 2015 I can reject the car given the mechanical issues I have encountered. However cartime are trying to dispute this claim and have not been easy to deal with at all. They are saying they have the right to repair the vehicle before any rejection. However this is the case for over 28 days not under it.
I would definitely not recommend buying from here as they clearly don’t prep their vehicles before letting you drive away in them and are now trying to leave me in a car that could have caused a fatality due to the lack of coolant and engine oil.

I’ve now bought 4 cars from Car Time, and honestly, it’s the same drama every single year. At this point, I strongly advise people to think twice before buying from them.
When they want to sell you a car, they’re constantly calling, chasing, and making all sorts of promises. But the moment you’ve signed and paid, the whole experience changes. Trying to get hold of the same person who was eager to sell to you becomes a struggle.
In my case, Hassan Iqbal made several promises that were never fulfilled. When I tried to follow up, I was told he’s now a manager and suddenly unavailable. Apparently, you “can’t speak to a manager” which just sounds like an excuse to avoid dealing with customers.
There’s little to no after-sales support, and it feels like once they’ve got your money, you’re on your own. For a company that relies on repeat customers, this is really disappointing.
After four purchases and repeated issues, I won’t be going back. Customers deserve honesty, accountability, and proper support not empty promises.

The pattern is clear: strong sales effort upfront, then avoidance once the deal is done. It feels deliberate—especially if you’re travelling from far and can’t easily return.
If you live far away, think very carefully before buying from CarTime.
I purchased my car from CarTime, Bury on 31st March after being heavily persuaded by Hassan Iqbal to travel from Glasgow to Manchester the next day with promises of £8,000 part exchange, a full tank of fuel, and finance at £167/month. I was told this was time-sensitive to secure the car and help them meet month-end targets.
I struggled to rearrange my work schedule and finally arrived in Bury.
On arrival, things immediately changed. My part exchange was reduced to £7,700 apparently due to a minor scruffing which was previously confirmed as wear and tear and car in excellent condition by Arnold Clark who were meant to give me £8400 for the car.
I was then told the £167/month quote hadn’t included my settlement, bringing it to £197/month. On top of that, I was asked to pay an additional £300 to cover the shortfall. This was all presented under time pressure, with urgency to sign finance documents before end of day and month. Exhausted and having travelled so far, I felt I had no real choice but to proceed.
I accepted all of this without giving them any trouble. However, when it came to them honouring their promise of a full tank of fuel, the experience completely changed.
What followed was weeks of chasing:
No callbacks despite repeated promises
Unable to reach the same staff or manager that sold me the car, Emails ignored, I was eventually sent refund forms, which I completed, only for them to try to reduce the amount owed and then stop responding altogether. I have now given up pursuing it.
To make matters worse:
I was told my car wouldn’t be resold due to the minor scuffing, yet I can now see it listed for sale on their webaite.
I was told the V5C had been processed, but DVLA confirmed no application was ever made so i had more trouble chasing this too.
The £1,000 finance deposit contribution advertised online was not honoured (was told its for “traders only” on arrival).
Red flags:
- Bait-and-switch pricing (monthly payments and part exchange value changed on arrival)
- High-pressure sales tactics and forced urgency
- Misleading information about vehicle condition and offers. Promises not honoured (fuel, promotions)
- Poor aftersales support (no callbacks, ignored emails)
- Lack of transparency and accountability
