Car oil leak
Bought a car on the 19th of Sept.. a week later noticed lots and lots of oil on my driveway.
Took the car down to my local mechanic he produced a detailed reports of problems and things that aren't right.

Contacted carworld that day and brought the car back to them the next day.
They could not find any problems apart from one and they said they repaired it, I asked about the other faults they stated again nothing was found.

They still have my car ( three weeks so far ) they do not call back, you need to call them, when I asked for the manager nothing back no emails no comms.

Honestly do yourself a favour DO NOT buy a car from these clowns. Avoid them at all cost absolute shocking poor service and comms.

Thanks to Monika the salesperson and Stuart (Finance Manager) it was a very positive and quick experience purchasing a car.

Avoid CarWorld Peterborough – A Cautionary Tale
If you're looking for a "great deal" on a car that breaks down within two weeks, costs you hundreds (if not thousands) in repairs, and comes with customer service that borders on hostile — this is the place for you.
I visited CarWorld Peterborough in October 2024 to view a VW T-Roc. During the test drive, I noticed the clutch felt unusually high. I raised this with the salesperson, who simply said their technician had checked it and all was fine. I declined that vehicle — in hindsight, I should have walked away completely.
They showed me a second T-Roc. This one seemed fine on the surface: no warning lights, oil looked okay. I’m no mechanic, but I did my due diligence. I purchased the car. Within two weeks, the engine management light came on.
I called CarWorld and they requested I drive back up so they can sort out the issues, I also asked for a courtesy car, as I live in Walsall and needed to get back for work. I was met with resistance and had to fight for it. Eventually, they agreed and had diagnosed a DPF issue with the car, which they "regenerated."
Just two weeks later, the engine light came on again. Same issue. Same process. Another regeneration.
Then, around Christmas — the light came back again. By the time the holidays ended, my warranty had expired. In January, the car wouldn't start at all. A £160 bill later for a new battery, it started again — only for the warning light to return a month later.
One garage quoted £3,000 for a DPF replacement. The DPF on my car is cracked!! A Volkswagen specialist later confirmed it was actually the EGR valve.
I had also paid for RAC Platinum Plus warranty. If the garage technician at VAGCAR hadn't argued with RAC, I would have paid over £700 for the work — thankfully I only paid around £50. Still, it shouldn't have come to that.
The Volkswagen specialist also showed me the state of the pollen filter, which they called “criminal” to leave in the car. Despite having paperwork claiming a recent service, it clearly hadn’t been done properly.
And now, 5 days after that repair, the engine light is back on again. I'm still paying for diagnostics, wasting time, and juggling transport.
You think buying from a dealer protects you — it doesn’t. CarWorld Peterborough has shown a complete lack of quality control, customer care, or long-term responsibility.
Avoid this company.

Having enjoyed an unaccompanied test drive a few days ago I collected my Smart Forfour today.
The car was exactly what I was looking for, was well presented and I was guided through the sales process by Wiki. With no pressure at any stage, her friendly efficiency and infectious enthusiasm made the whole experience a genuine pleasure.

I found a car on Auto trader being advertised for sale, I went to the dealership, i was told a certain price I’d be given for my vehicle in part exchange I took the car for a test drive and the battery warning light came on, I was lied to by the salesman telling me “it’s a common fault we’ve liaised with Mercedes and the batteries are fine” naively I went on and bought the car, despite them going back on the original price I’d offered despite me telling them before I went to the dealership I’d be driving 2 hours some wouldn’t want the price to change and being assured it wouldn’t. I went to put something in the boot and noticed there was no parcel shelf but was told ‘oh that will be reflected because of that’ I drove the car home and noticed it had no air conditioning! The car needed a service so 2 weeks after buying it I took the car that was now whistling was taken into a garage to service the vehicle only to be shown photos and told how the engine had all occupied, the clutch cable eroded, the air conditioning seized up, the electric window not working! There had also been proof of a rat living in the under try so they couldn’t rule out if any electrics had been damaged, and the auxiliary battery was faulty causing the warning light! I emailed carworld and was ignored for 2 weeks, I was then told to ring RAC as it could come under warranty but the car was ‘fit for purpose’ as it drove! I rang the RAC and was told it wasn’t things that were covered but they agreed and that car work should take some accountability for selling a car in this condition! They sent an email on my behalf and I then had to ring the service department back and was told to bring the vehicle in and they would have a look at it. I was told they would send me details of where to take it, I again didn’t hear from them with this information and I had to ring them! I took the car in and wasn’t spoken to for 3 hours, I had to ask for an update where I was told ‘we was trying to get it all done today” I told them I wouldn’t be waiting as this was not a one day fix and was given a Courtesy car to get home. I then had to drive back a week later to collect my car which had been repaired and I was advised I would get a
Vehicle report detailing the repairs and I am still waiting. I have had no apology, no compensation or gesture of good will for the inconvenience caused by this, the customer service was terrible. I would definitely not recommend buying from here.

I didnt come with the intention of buying a car, even when sharing this information they didnt treat me any differently. I was assisted by Carlos who was a kind and welcoming fellow, sharing every last detail I asked for and took the time to ensure I could find a car that would match for me. What an absolutely amazing experience. We saw the car we wanted to view on eBay popped to Car world. We spoke to Shakeel he gave us the keys to go and look at the car. No hassle no following no pestering. We were free to take as long as we liked. We took it for a test drive. We spoke to Shakeel as there was a problem with the car. No problem they sent it to there garage we were kept informed all the time. Shakeel phoned us and said the car was ready to be picked up and we purchased the car. (Nissan Qashqai) Service amazing. Communication excellent.

SCAM MAKE IT SOUND YOU ARE GETTING A CHEAP CAR ONLY TO BE TOLD X1 KEY NO CHARGING CABLE ON THE DAY. POOR BRAKES BEEN TOLD NEED NEW DISCS? AVOID AS DO NOT RING BACK OR REPLY BACK TO YOU AFTER-SALES START LAUGHING AT YOU ON PHONE. LIES & LIES ALL THE TIME PLEASE BE CAREFULL.

Bought a car for £12000. Was told it was serviced and MOT and it's a great car as had loads of work done to it. For then 2 days later a powertrain light come on and the car has power issues as well as battery voltage issues. Now they need to 'investivate' as asked for a refund but won't look at the car say they are busy and no available slots. Can't speak to a manager. Advised under the consumer act they have 14 days to give me a refund. They don't care and will have to take legal action.

I saw a car being sold by CarWorld on Autotrader. When I enquired about it I was told by two separate people that it was "going through the preparation centre" and it would be 3-4 weeks before I could see it, "due to high demand", but that I could pay a £99 deposit and they would find a way to fast track it. Clearly this is an absurd approach to selling cars, and designed to extract commitment in the form of cash deposits, even if they do say these are refundable deposits. As I told them directly, one part of the used car market that ISN'T broken is the following model:

1) customer sees an ad and is interested in a car
2) the dealer actually has the car
3) customer visits car and likes car
4) customer buys car

This is not to mention the silly idea that the 3-4 week delay is due to high demand. If they did have demand, in the form of these deposits, then they'd be getting the cars in on a fast track.

If I've misunderstood what they've told me they are welcome to respond and I will correct my review.

From start to finish we received friendly professional service from Monika and the rest of the staff in Peterborough.

The woman i dealt with was super helpful.....made the whole experience very easy. Talked me through the whole process and had nothing but time for me. Would recommend to my friends and family. And I would use them again

AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID - Trading Standards Involved

1. Bought a 69 plate car for over £13000, asked the usual questions about Service status and history etc to be told it's all up to date and no worries or concerns. Upon taking the vehicle for a test drive and liking it, I realised the dash says "Service Due" and I would have to pay for this which they can do whilst I do paperwork. Little shame but really liked the car so went for it. Drive away in an hours promise (as they say everywhere) was actually 4 hours.

2. Whilst driving home I also realised there is a tiny pin hole chip at the top of the windscreen which no one pointed out. Again my mistake but took the dealerships word.

3. During the drive home the clutch became locked and was unable to change gear briefly (told myself it must be me) however the next day this happened 3 times including rolling out a roundabout and on a dual carriageway!!!!! ALMOST CRASHED - Turns out its Hydraulic Issue.

I have been emailing about all of this to the person I organised the viewing with and they said they've passed this on to the "Aftersales dept", I have also emailed Aftersales directly, coming up to a week since this all and haven't heard anything back at all, not even an acceptance.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - Now going to Trading Standards and escalation

Monika made the whole process easy.
First time buying a car in a showroom after 11yrs and her help was extremely calming.
Whole experience was seamless and nothing was too much trouble.
A credit to the company and will definitely recommend.
