I have had the pleasure to work with the CFO centre for over 6 years on many shared clients, where I have seen them provide exceptional strategic planning and financial leadership, helping clients grow and achieve their goals.

I interviewed with the CFO Centre last year. The General Legal Counsel (Toby) was very condescending. The General Legal Counsel seemed very surprised I had made it far to be offered an interview as in his words “they get so many applicants.” Bear in mind, the Job I applied in September is still open and listed today. He was scrunching his face at many of my answers. Didn’t listen to any of my responses as they use AI to transcribe answers so he didn’t bother to engage at all. It wasn’t a nice experience, being asked questions about experience I clearly don’t have given the fact my CV was screened. I would honestly think twice before working at this company within the Legal & Compliance division because the General Legal Counsel is not nice. Additionally, I was given roughly 24 hours to prepare for a formal interview. Received a text message for an interview at 10am for a first-stage interview the next day at 11am. Had I made it through the first stage, the next stage interview was to be held 2 days later. They don’t give time for any form of preparation. Highly disappointing experience so I wouldn’t bother applying for this specific position & the company.

My experience with CFO Centre was deeply disappointing and raises serious concerns about communication, accountability, and suitability for businesses relying on CFO-level oversight.

Specific issues I experienced include:
• Failure to clearly advise at a critical time: At no point was I clearly informed, in my capacity as a company director, that my company was considered insolvent or at risk of insolvency. This information, had it been communicated clearly and directly, would have materially affected decisions I made.
• Unclear responsibility and accountability: It was never clearly established who was responsible for ensuring that critical financial risks were communicated to the director. When concerns were later raised, responsibility appeared to shift rather than be addressed directly.
• Inconsistent and vague communication: Representations and assurances early in the engagement did not align with later outcomes. Requests for clarity were met with general or non-specific explanations rather than direct answers.
• Lack of meaningful resolution: When issues were identified, there was no substantive effort to resolve them in a timely or transparent manner.

For a firm positioning itself as providing strategic CFO services, the absence of clear, documented communication on matters this serious was alarming. This is my personal experience, but I would strongly encourage business owners and directors to exercise caution, insist on clear written advice, and not rely on assumptions about oversight.

Based on my experience, I would not engage CFO Centre again.

We have used the CFO for a few years now and find them incredibly useful when making business decisions and helping us get a better understanding and overview of accounts and forecasting

The CFO Centre have worked with us for over a year. They have understood our business, have advised and implemented a great framework and systems for us to understand the finances of our business much more greatly.
