Was very well organised
Was very well organised. Asked for places near the entrance because of elderly gentleman not able to walk very far and we were seated right next to the door. We were a group of 8 ranging from 14 years to 84 years and everyone enjoyed the experience. The breakfast was lovely and the staff are wonderful. Pleasant helpful and efficient.

Friendly and helpful people and the train was comfortable and nostalgic. A lovely experience for my Mom. Booking process was very good, the people I spoke to were very helpful. The fresh scone was lovely ( and still warm) 😁😁

Great trip
Great staff, good organisation and a lovely, nostalgic trip - albeit using a loco from the USA!
Breakfast was good with quality sausages and bacon. Not too sure what was acting as 'toast' under the egg but it was soggy and flat. Missed toast and jam or marmalade which is why I have only given 4 stars.

The item served beneath the egg was a bagel, although we’re sorry to hear it was not to your taste on this occasion. We do appreciate your feedback regarding this and the suggestion of toast with jam or marmalade. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of our heritage kitchen facilities onboard and the lack of electrical equipment, toast is not currently an option available to us.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the organisation was great and the wine was waiting for us when we reached our seats. The portions sizes were good but the beef was a little too well done for my tastes and the veg was a little too al dente but I appreciate it is difficult to cater to everyone’s tastes on such a scale and didn’t take away from the experience

First time on this railway.
First time on this railway and what a lovely time we had.
Parking was quick and easy, check-in and boarding was smooth.
Tables were set out with proper cotton table clothes and we were served tea/coffee straight away. Once on our way breakfast was served.
Staff were polite and attentive.
On train for just over 2hrs and my husband really enjoyed his birthday .
Would recommend to anyone and I will definitely be doing it again.

Lovely experience
Lovely experience. Easy online booking, free parking, helpful staff, with drinks and good bacon baps available onboard. Return trip was over 2 hours so good value for £16.40.

Charlie on traffic and all other staff
Charlie on traffic was helpful and happy. All staff we encountered were friendly and professional. The train journey was very comfortable and inside the carriage was as nostalgic as it should be.
The outside views were pretty average, just trees and some sheep.
Every seat in the dining carriages are taken, so unless you can book a table for two, you will share tables with other couples.
Considering most of this experience revolves around the food, we found the breakfast disappointingly below average. Almost seems like everything is precooked and reheated, including the toast.
Eggs on the Benedict were hard boiled. Not even poached. Big no no. Sauce hollandaise was cold and bacon so overcooked it was inedible. The toast . Well. Crusts tasted burnt and could barely get the knife through it. Very rubbery??? How did they achieve this?
The peashoots were good though.
If something is being sold as a breakfast or lunch journey then efforts should be made to make sure this is much better than we experienced.
It was the staff that made this experience memorable. With the hospitality industry getting such a hammering, it was great to see these guys trying and giving of their best.

We’re sorry to hear that parts of the breakfast did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to clarify that all of our food is freshly cooked on board the train in our heritage kitchen and is not pre-cooked or reheated.
We are also a little confused by the comments regarding toast, as toast is not something we serve as part of our breakfast experience. Our eggs are freshly poached, and we are sorry if yours were overdone on this occasion. Had this been mentioned to the team at the time, we would have happily replaced the dish for you straight away.
The train journey itself forms a large part of the 2 hour 15 minute experience, combining heritage travel, scenery, atmosphere and dining together, and we appreciate your comments regarding the comfort and nostalgic feel of the carriage.
