I am a live in carer with Consultus, I have been recruited by and worked with Gemma Bigginton for 2 clients. I have been blown away by her dedication to her supervisory role, she is passionate about what she does, she is kind and caring to both her clients and her carers, no job is too big or too small for her, no matter what you need, whether it be advice, supplies or anything, she acts on this promptly . There's never having to do a return call or wait its done there and then. She follows up on absolutely everything to give the best service to her client and carer. Gemma will drive miles and go the extra mile to see her carers and her clients, making sure both parties are happy and receiving the best service. The ongoing training and involvement is excellent. I can highly recommend Gemma and Consultus !! Outstanding!

We have been using Consultus for over 4 months and, based on our experience so far, we can highly recommend them.

We required 24 hour live-in care for our 87 year old aunt, who had recently been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, and our 93 year old uncle, for whom our aunt had previously been primary carer. The care put in place by the NHS was woefully inadequate and our experience with another care agency was disastrous. We were at the end of our tether but fortunately a friend of the family recommended Consultus and we are so pleased they did. Gemma Bigginton, the Consultus care manager who has been excellent, established a great rapport with our aunt and uncle from the start. Understanding the urgency of our situation, she organised a care package to start within a few days.

All the carers so far have been amazing, kind and capable. The house is spotless and organised, all have embraced our aunt & uncle’s vegetarian diet and have provided them with nutritious meals. They have dealt with GP appointments, medication, our aunt’s NHS carers, district nurses, etc. The carers establish a WhatsApp group with the family from day one to provide regular updates and information and Consultus also provides a daily email update, all of which we find very reassuring.

Sadly our aunt’s health deteriorated rapidly and she passed away three months ago but a special mention must go to Safron and Sue who looked after both our aunt and uncle for the last 6 weeks of our aunt's life and for Safron who supported our uncle before, during and after our aunt’s funeral. Since then Consultus have remained in place providing support and continuity for our uncle.

Gemma and her team have been wonderful throughout these difficult months and we would be very happy to recommend Consultus Managed Care to others.

A disaster from the moment my Mum had reapplied to work for consultus Jan 2024 , eventually went to train in May 2024 and told her she was not competent.
Because the trainers were Nity Nattering and that's their attitude. They either like you or dont. I have voice notes from carers on how the trainers are Nattering behind certain carers that they are training backs.

Not professional at all.

Bare in mind both my Mum and I worked from 2009 to 2018 and myself 2019.

People are being told they did not pass and are told to leave immediately. Some carers come from overseas and have no where to go immediately. Carers are often being told to pay for their training and are not allowed back . One carer had a family emergency to attend and later lost her Mother and was made to pay for her training
£350 and they will not have her back or will not give her the certification.

This company is heartless and do not care for the carers . Never ever will I recommend them. There are lovely agencies out there with kind compassionate trainers. No need for this abuse.
It's time to talk out and stop lying and blocking reviews. I will have my say.

I have been working with Consultus Care and Nursing for many years now. It's the first company I ever felt truly valued and respected by. I have made some good friends and have some very fond memories of my clients.
The various teams and staff members throughout the Company are always cheerful, helpful and upbeat.
I have a sense of pride in saying I work with Consultus.
The training is of a very high standard which enables us to confidently deliver Best Practice at all times and maintains Consultus' great reputation.
Annual update training is made easily accessible, along with other opportunities for CPD.

Consultus care and nursing training is very organised and informative. Training staff have sound knowledge and skills to support trainees.

After recommendations from fellow carers working at Consultus Care and Nursing, I started my journey to join the company through the incredible recruitment agent Bev Meekle. What an amazing experience every step of the way. From all the helpful, supportive and knowledgeable staff at head office in Tonbridge, to the professional, experienced and highly qualified Managed Care Department managers, consultants, staff and fellow carers.
Special mention to assistant MCD manager, Mel Swan, who, guided me through my first booking with kindness and compassion and was available 24/7 for any assistance needed with my client. Consultus Care and Nursing have met all my expectations and have equipped me with the skills and knowledge required to care for the people who once cared for us, in thier own homes, which is both a privilege and honor.

Joined the company in May 2016 into the Live-In Care - Introductory Service. I have never looked back being self employed at Consultus as it has given me the flexibility to create my working calendar as and when I choose. This has been a huge benefit for me as it means I am not limited to located days, when it comes to extended holidays. The Consultants have always been brilliant at partnering me up with great clients and a full working calendar each year. I can’t praise the Consultants enough as being self employed they have always been there to support, to clear up any grey areas and assist when needed. I have always found them friendly and professional in all my communications especially through tricky Covid times . The training staff are great, knowledgeable, always eager and ready to help especially when doing external Courses through Consultus. The ladies on the reception are always a joy to speak to from their first hello, friendly and welcoming voices as they navigate me through the various departments. Their bright hellos have lifted my spirits many a time. Being a self employed carer at Consultus has allowed me to meet some incredible and special clients, find great reward in caring and a heart for those with Alzheimer’s and a deeper appreciation. Along the way I have meet some incredible clients who will forever touch my heart. Thanks Consultus for the chance to experience such extraordinariness.

Carer of Consultus with a proven track record, have been in touch with other carers who are in the same boat, no jobs for us in England and they seem to be relying on regular advertising for new carers so that the existing carers are out of work.

So here I am, ready to work but there is no work for me...

I have been employed at Consultus Care for almost 3 years. I have only ever worked for this company as I am extremely happy with the training, loyalty, suppport, expertise, bookings and efficiency they have provided me with. I have no desire to work for any other company as extremely happy with Consultus Care.
I have never had any issues with the company but to the contrary. They are a phone call away and always available for any support one may need.
I have found that every member of staff in all areas to be extremely professional , helpful and kind to assisting me in every area and to also getting bookings for the correct clients.
All the experience and the constant professional training they have provided me in order to meet the clients care needs have been so beneficial at delivering a high standard of care.
Consultus Care are a very professional company to work for. I have found the company to treat their staff with consideration, respect , fairness and an ongoing support of giving us new clients .
The senior Care Consultants are extremely helpful and approachable when ever there has been any problem that may arise in the work place in my caring and very quick to help resolve any hiccups. The staff all work as a team and are supportive at all times. They all cover for each other should your line manager be away which is very reassuring when caring for clients.
I am extremely happy that I work for Consultus Care and I hope to remain with them for the foreseeable years ahead.
I would and do recommend people to come and work for this truly professional caring company.
Lastly to say that the company go far and beyond to look after their clients and carers in a sensitive and caring way.

Although excellent previous references from many years experience, this “CARE” company treats many carers like a “number” in their “system”. Influx of international carers thus ratio of carer to client for locals appalling. (pick and choose as long as the money keeps rolling in). I wonder if the Chief Executive Officer or Owner is aware or part of the plan. Spoken to in derogatory, immature, non business minded manner. Feedback from regular “jealous” carer’s to Consultus after a placement not truthful e.g.”left place in a mess? Thus bad reflection on my excellent work. (Must be hanging on to their regular job for dear life). They reckon that they place carer’s suitably matched… definitely not the case. Challenging first time placements with a history/reputation so again, excuse to strike you off the role. Some families don’t like being informed about Health & Safety issues so they give negative/untruthful feedback to Consultus (so the wheels keep turning). SHAMEFUL. I bet many constructive carer’s unfortunately don’t leave honest, negative reviews on Trust Pilot which is a pity because the truth should be out there. No need to answer to their response to Trust Pilot, as the matters have been discussed and they actually couldn’t care. They’re employed and go home with their salaries. Could mention more…TIME for a company/owner review! REFLECT! So, whomever deals with company reviews, pass this info onto your senior management (although it’s just a money making racket). To the client’s: you’ll still have “someone” sent to help out.

Carers being threatened with losing future bookings with clients who have requested them, if they don't take certain clients offered inbetween! New carers being recruited in droves so that the agency can receive £500 for each one for training from the gov! So older carers no longer (for many months now) being offered enough work & are being shoddily treated & threatened as above! Appalled.

“Consultus were absolutely amazing, fulfilling my Aunt’s wishes that she spent her last 18 months living at home. Not only were they great at matching carers with my Aunt, who remained fiercely independent until the end, they also became part of the family, ensuring that things ran smoothly, liaising with all the agencies and doctors as and when needed. I loved the short nightly emails, that provided me with an update on how the day had gone. Importantly, it gave me peace of mind that everything was okay and they would let me know when my help was needed.

The lovely Consultus manager, Fiona, would regularly visit my aunt and provide me with more detailed updates, so that we could work as a team to ensure my aunt’s needs were adapted as she became frailer. Fiona or one of her colleagues were always at the end of the phone if needed.

The carers remain with my aunt until the end and undoubtedly allowed her to gracefully pass on to her next great adventure.

I am now into my seventh month working for Consultus.This is the best agency l have ever worked for.Their great professionalism,support,kindness ,care and training is of high quality.They value their staff and appreciate the great work they do.l enjoy working as a carer and Consultus always ensure that I have work.l have nothing to complain about but to sing my praises.

I have been working with Consultus as a live-in nurse since 2022.
I appreciate the opportunity Consultus gave to accept the assignment to nurse the client. The information given to me about clients situation, this ensures that I have a full understanding of the clients needs.
Ongoing interests are demonstrated with support, guidance and communication during a placement from the nursing team in the Consultus office.
I valued the Consultus staff who acknowledged my qualities and their ability to matched experiences , knowledge and skills with those expectations and needs of clients. I have received many compliments and positive feedback from clients and their families.
I in particular appreciate the feedback from them on identifying things that I could improve on especially after the audit of a client’s nursing records.

I worked for Consultus as a self employed live in carer for 9 years.
I met some amazing & interesting clients along with their families.
I also met some wonderful Carers from all over the world.
I found the Consultus team very approachable. They quickly get to know your skills, strengths & weaknesses to match the Client.
I have really enjoyed my time with Consultus.

My family engaged Consultus for nearly three years to look after my elderly father who had heart valve problems and Alzheimer's until a week before his death, when my brother was coincidentally looking after him. My impression and experience ranged from excellent and dedicated and caring, to very poor, hence the three stars. If I were grading the Managed care service, for the period we had an absolutely excellent consultant, Samantha Champ, it was consistently good, other than two consultants who were either let go of while working at my father's, or not re-engaged. Samantha got to know my father and us well, and he liked and trusted her. She has a good rapport with the girls she employs as well and feedback is acted on. Under the previous manager, things were less good: one carer was sacked after comments from the nurses in A&E where she decided my father needed to be one day - once the staff realised he had Alzheimer's, they discharged him home with me. She was unkind and inept and did not work for Consultus again.

Sadly, in October 23, we ran out of money - the local authority belatedly agreed funding but only in the last few days of my father's life. We therefore moved over to self-employed care. I would not recommend Consultus for this. Logically this should have been the right (and cheaper) package, especially as I was closely involved with the GP etc, and close to my father, but it became painfully clear that other than the first carer, who was one we knew well and who worked as a self-employed and managed carers, the standard of carers deterioriated markedly, and we were unable to secure bookings with any of the ladies who had been so wonderful with my father, mainly because the Managed (more expensive) side takes priority when it comes to getting the best carers, so even if they work for both sides, you don't get any choice. The second self-employed carer was brusque and quite unsympathetic and perhaps because she lived in South Africa, had no idea how the GP and health service worked. She was also lazy and my father's flat became very dusty - a lot of the carers do not clean, though some do, and it is in their contract. The last was another South African who was kind and diligent, but as my father's health declined, she found it increasingly hard. Self-employed consultants do not seem to have anyone to go to for backup or emotional support.
After my father died, several earlier carers sent lovely messages, one came to the funeral, and our Manager, Sam, intended to attend despite a six hour round trip, but was unable to due to illness.
In contrast, I have not received one word of condolence from anyone at Consultus or the self-employed manager I set up care through, possibly because they may not have taken in his death.
Be warned: head office does not seem to particularly care, and you won't have any help with dovetailing into any local authority or government or charitable organisations or local adult services. Despite that, many of the ladies who came to my father through the Managed care service were lovely and most of the time, his care was unfailingly cheerful, quite often humorous, kind and dedicated and we got to know some of the ladies well. As it should have been for six figures over two and a quarter years. But the poor quality of the self-employed service, the amount of money the company creams off for the Managed service every single week, and some occasional bad eggs that let this company down. I would not use the Self-Employed service. It's too risky.

Consultus Care allowed us to keep our Mum at home following a fall and a hip break. This meant that she had really good quality of life; her friends could visit her easily.
It made a huge difference to her to be in her own surroundings.

The quality of care was excellent throughout. It worked well for my Mum to have a small team of carers who knew her well and who could support her rehabilitation.

I have happily been a carer with consultus for over 10 years.... enough said!!! 😊

We used Consultus to provide care for our daughter while we were away. Having not left our daughter with anybody for many years, this was a huge decision for us. We were assigned a carer and, due to the nature of our daughters needs, we were able to have the carer come and stay with us for nearly a week prior to the booking to acclimatise. This is not part of their usual practice but was instrumental in allowing us the mental space and confidence in the carers abilities. Jade was an amazing young lady who was clearly very well trained. Within a very short space of time, it felt like we had known her for years. We had a slight problem with our daughters health during Jade's acclimatisation which resulted in a hospital stay and Jade was such a tower of strength and gave so much support, both physically and emotionally that when we left our daughter with her a week later, even though our daughter was not 100%, we had no qualms about doing so. We knew that Jade was totally competent in her role and we knew she had the support of the team behind her if she needed it. We would absolutely use Jade and Consultus again and hope to do so soon.

The carers were good in the main, apart from one. My mother liked her, and she came twice, but I had to do a significant amount of cleaning in the carer’s room after she left- I suspect vomit, which accords with mother’s account of what she heard one night, and money went missing from mother’s hair cut fund- the lady did cut her hair but the fund was there for a previously contracted hair cutter.
By far the main problem we encountered was the ‘Care Consultant’ we were allocated- Mirella Malluzzo. She was a domineering woman who bullied my mother, myself and her staff. She wanted my mother to accept a two week live in care pattern. I told her my mother didn’t want that. My mother told her the same, but when I was away Malluzzo turned up and bullied my mother into accepting that. So mother was bullied into accepting what Malluzzo had already been told she didn’t want. I honoured that commitment that my mother had been intimidated into, then I immediately sacked the firm.
So, by all means deal with this company because the majority of the carers we had were very good, but if you are assigned Ms Malluzzo as your Care Consultant, just ask for someone else, and if you don’t get that- THEN DON’T BOTHER.
