I have been a self-employed live-in care worker for Consultus for 13 years and have always had regular placements. I have spent over 4 years with most of my regular clients as this continuity works for them and myself. All the staff work as a Team and are supportive and understanding.

I have never regretted doing this as from day 1 I was assisted and looked after by the team at Consultus’s office especially Carolyn who after the recent passing of one of my dearest clients of 8 years phoned me a couple of times to see if I was okay as this was my first experience of end of life care -

Consultus are a very professional organisation to work for, staff are always treated with respect. All training needs are indendtified in a timely manner and courses are provided for the employees. Managers are very supportive and work well as a team.

Circumstances changed for me seven years ago in South Africa and being of “a certain age”, I thought, “Oh help, what do I do now?!”
A close schoolfriend was already working as a live-in-carer with Consultus and said “Come and try it, just give it a go!” Unsure and with trepidation I booked my flight, little did I know what a positive turn of events lay in store for me!
Here I am all these years later having had an amazing time! I’ve met and had the privilege to care for many remarkable people, travelled and worked in so many beautiful and interesting areas of the UK, all the while topping up my pension pot and adding to my financial security.
None of this would have been possible without the wonderful people at Consultus! The Care Consultant team have always found me bookings for the dates I’ve requested, are friendly, cheerful and positive and make me feel valued for the work I’m doing. Caring work is deeply rewarding but of course there are tough times when assisting people in the twilight of their lives. These are the times when the wonderful Consultus Care Consultants really are appreciated, an exceptional team who listen to your challenges with empathy and understanding.

I have been working as a carer for 10 years and from the beginning I felt I was in the right place. The work satisfies and fulfills me. Feeling useful and making a difference in someone's life is something really rewarding. Due to the pandemic that has settled in all parts of the globe, our work as a carer was very affected and ended up becoming a little stressful because there was not enough time to be with the people who need our attention.
