Really love this place. Wonderful selection of sanseveria

Had an online delivery of a Sea Holly and A Helenium , the sea Holly looked nothing like the picture advertised, it was during g flowering season but the stem was not blue just a mass of green leaves , very disappointed. The selenium wasn't the correct size, they messaged me to say they were sending me a smaller pot with some of the flowers ' gone over" I wasn't expecting a dead plant with no new flowers! They were also both wrapped in cling film which was impossible to remove from the helenium as it had a plastic cage embedded in it!, all in all a dreadful waste of money £30 I wanted what was advertised not the offerings I received. I wrote to complain and was fobbed off, saying the selenium was reduced anyway , I knew this but it looked like an end of season thing it even had a 50% off sticker on it!, I wanted a proper or partial refund after my complaint but got nothing , just a pandering email saying I should not have been sent a plant in that state ( helenium) and they would inform the person who packed it , I am disgusted! Avoid!5

I have ordered from them a few times now and so happy with the healthy plants I received, there is so much choice on their website at really good prices. I also appreciate how carefully they are packed.

I love this company, i have been shopping online with them for a few years now and every single item ive ordered has blown me away. The plants are very healthy, a really good size, very well wrapped in paper and then a thick box using a well known courier next day delivery and have all arrived safely. The prices are very fair compared to others and just knowing that they good and arrive safe means i will always come back. I just wish they had a way of sending out larger items like acers further than a local delivery. Im sure there must be a courier who can. I had to call for plant advice for my new colocasias and was given brilliant advice and instantly felt calmer and safer knowing i wasnt about to kill my new plants. Thank you.

Had a lot of dealings with customer service dept, as I wanted detailed info on one of the plants I was interested in, They were incredibly helpful, so 2nd order just been delivered, thrilled with my plants, very healthy, well packed, quick delivery, Cowells is certainly my go to place for plants now, Thank you

I'm so impressed. I order plants online with some frequency given, over the past 8 years, I've transformed my gardens into a wildlife/prairie haven and my local garden centre doesn't have much variety when it comes to grasses and pollinator-friendly plants suitable for prairie planting. I found Cowell's who have a lovely range of plants, many in larger more established pot sizes to allow more 'immediate' impact and feed for the wildlife, so I placed an order, part of which arrived this morning. My Astrantias arrived lovingly packaged, in perfect condition and hadn't been cut back to be squeezed into a smaller box (very sad to see and receive) - something that rarely happens with plants in transit: that tells me Cowell's respects the plants and has pride in their trade. I also appreciated these plants being boxed seperately to the remainder of my order given they're fragile little flowers on long stems. I will definitely be shopping at Cowell's again and have bookmarked the site. 10/10.

Very disappointed with the plant that arrived it had burnt leaves edges, snapped branches and all together looks unhealthy , I won’t use this supplier again

This garden centre is so good. It is the garden centre I always use even though it is a little bit of a drive away from Durham. Lovely plants, big range to choose from, beautiful displays to give you ideas and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful.

I recently ordered a plant from Cowells Garden Centre, which arrived here this morning - all exactly as scheduled, via DPD, with a tracked and professional delivery service.

The plant is really good condition and had been most carefully packaged for transit.

Am really impressed; so much so, I have left an unrequested review here.

Ordered several times from Cowells and they dispatch quickly and pack securely. Plants are excellent quality.

The MOST helpful and friendly staff I have ever encountered at a garden centre. Huge thanks to Dylan and Jacob. Beautiful and amazingly well stocked centre. I was visiting from Edinburgh and will certainly go again when I am in the area.

Ordered a 7 litre Red Dragon. Was not too sure as first time I have ordered a large plant to be delivered. Should not have been worried as it turned up 2 days later in perfect condition. Opened up and you could already smell the sent. Congratulations to the nursery on their packaging also to whoever delivered it.
Sitting outside now and the bees have already started to visit.

The 3 ivy’s are lovely plants in great condition and at a fair price.

I've purchased a few times from Cowell's for houseplants and garden plants. My experiences are from online purchases. The customer service I've received has always been excellent, a couple of times I've bought and then decided to put in a separate order later on (I always decided I want something more or to double up) in that situation I'm always happy to pay the extra postage but each time, I've always had a very nice follow up email to confirm if my additional purchase was correct or in error and then there's an offer to refund the additional postage.

The staff are always so friendly in their communication with me. My plants always arrive well packaged and in a healthy condition.

I genuinely cannot fault Cowell’s Garden Centre — this has been one of the best plant-buying experiences I’ve had, and it’s worth saying that I’ve placed many orders with Cowell’s over time and the service is always consistently excellent.

The plants arrived beautifully packaged: compostable bags, brown paper wrapping, bark mulch on top, and even cling film neatly secured over the pot to retain moisture and protect the plant in transit. Everything was very obviously packed with real care and attention.

The plants themselves were in fabulous condition and noticeably larger than expected, clearly labelled with full identification and care instructions. A lovely touch was the enclosed invoice featuring colour photographs of the plants, which is incredibly helpful and thoughtful.

The box arrived in perfect condition, delivered right way up by DX Express, and only two days after ordering — excellent turnaround.

What really sets Cowell’s apart, though, is their customer service. I’d accidentally ordered the wrong plant, emailed them, and received a reply on a Sunday. The issue was resolved immediately and without hesitation — no fuss, just brilliant service.

To top it all off, there was an information card enclosed with the plants, complete with the name of the person who packed the order and a smiley face — such a simple gesture, but it made the whole experience feel genuinely personal.

Having ordered many times, I can honestly say this level of care and professionalism is not a one-off — it’s how Cowell’s operate every time. They are so far ahead of the opposition in terms of quality, service, sustainability, and attention to detail that it’s not even a close comparison.

Highly, highly recommended
