The initial meeting with the agency was excellent, and the lady who carried out the property valuation was professional, knowledgeable and friendly, which is why I chose this agency.
Unfortunately, my experience during the inventory appointment was very disappointing. The inventory clerk was unprofessional throughout the visit and, most surprisingly, left halfway through the inventory without informing me or anyone else. As the new tenant was due to move in later that same day, this was completely unacceptable.
When I contacted the agency to raise my concerns, I expected at least an apology, but none was offered. The lack of communication and professionalism left me very disappointed.
It’s a shame because the tenant-finding service was good, but the inventory process significantly let the overall experience down.

Managed my property rental for 3 years. What a waste of money! Paid through the nose for their assoicated contractors to fix issues as soon as the tenants raised them, however the work was often incredible poor and not checked on completion. Inspections failed to pick up major issues so we were forced to investigate on numerous occasions ourselves and find our own tradesman to prevent being ripped off further! Honestly will never rent again(despite fantastic tenants), company contract was a utter waste of money.

Three attempted visits.
Just returned from the third attempted visit to a house in Gedling Nottingham. Arranged via the Mapperley branch .Again no one turned and no apology offered. Terrible service not only for the potential buyer but also the vendor.
Excellent service
We agreed the asking price and commission and within one week of it going on the market we sold our house. Great work and all very smooth.

Incompetent - avoid this agency.
Incompetent. No communication unless pushed. Have made many mistakes, but rather than honestly admitting them and taking action to correct, they double down and stop communicating or resort to untruths. Makes you wonder if the directors are unaware of what is going on, or are complicit in the incompetence to get fees for work not done or done badly. I would never recommend them after experiencing such poor service.

Breath-takingly shocking selling experience
This is a genuine review and I am generally not a grumpy, complaining type of person but OMG, avoid trying to sell your house with this company! An absolute dire experience from start to finish (Nov 2024 to End July 2025). The most expensive set of photos I have ever had of our property with poor communication throughout, poor customer experience, let down, mislead and even up-to the week of completion, I cannot even tell you what they did for their money?? The solicitors they recommended were equality as shocking so the house selling and buying process was actually heart- stopingly stressful when it didn’t really have to be. I wish I could give the money to my husband seeing as he seemed to be the one making calls, chasing up forms that should have been filled in or chased up by these so called ‘professional’ estate agents. I actually lost him for the 9 months it has taken for this debarcal of a process to finally come to a conclusion!!
There are multiple other agents covering Gedling, Mapperley, Carlton- I would suggest you use them instead of this circus outfit! Barstow eves in comparison have been brilliant throughout the whole buying experience with regular updates, a named person and hubby not having to do their job for them.
Thankfully, we are now in a lovely new home but I would honestly say, we could never put ourselves through the processes we have just gone through again in our lives and David James should be hanging their heads in shame (but realistically they won’t cause they got their £2800 regardless!). So basically, avoid avoid avoid! Breathtakingly shocking experience and thanks for absolutely nothing.

Mapperley branch in Nottingham do not understand or care about helping customers. After first selling in November it took them until January just to send the basic paperwork to the solicitor to start the selling process. When i phoned to ask why they said nothing happens over christmas anyway!
When i phoned david to ask what was going on he said thanks for letting him know and i was the 2nd person that day to have the same complaint.
When David valued the house i was promised a dedicated person would be dealing with me but had different contacts everytime i spoke to them.
After my buyer pulled out 2 days before completion i just had a call with no explanation of why and agreed to re market with them.
The second buyer was really happy with house so we exchanged numbers which was the best thing i did as we sorted the house sale between us as David James when the offer was excepted seem to wash there hands of everything, no contact until me and the buyer had got to exchange week then they woke up so they could get paid. I wish i had marketed it myself as i did most of the work after offer accepted.
They made the whole process stressful and a lot harder than it needed to be and there recommended solicitor was just as bad as them (DC Law) Not suprising they are the only people in the whole process who have not asked for feedback hence this one.
Again AVOID AVOID AVOID.

As cash buyers we felt that we were given a very poor, unresponsive service as reflected in the fact that it took more than 2 weeks to secure a viewing of our desired property. It then took more than 24 hours to get a response (with repeated chasing) on an offer, which is unacceptable, with little or no facilitation on our offer.

house fell through because it needed serious electrical repairs,due to this i would not be able to get home insurance. the seller and agent knew for months without telling me.
Ambushed with a chain
Back in 2023 I tried to buy a house David James was marketing. After three frustrating months waiting for the vendor to find an onward purchase, with no sign it'd ever actually happen, I gave up and abandoned the purchase.
Months later DJ approached me again. It said the property was back on the market and promised a quick, chain-free sale this time. Despite misgivings I agreed to buy it. Over the following month DJ reiterated its awareness of the conditions and in the light of my previous experience, how important they were.
A month into the process an email suddenly arrived. DJ told me our "chain-free" transaction was now a part of a chain!
I pointed out at once that this broke their promises. DJ's response (which felt like gaslighting) was to try and convince me what a great thing this new chain was. If I wanted to learn more I'd have to wait, it said, until another agent returned from holiday.
This created the impression of a bait-and-switch. It felt like I'd been promised a chain-free transaction so I'd commit my time and money, then get railroaded into accepting one.
I demanded the branch manager get involved. When no answers emerged by the next morning, I said if the vendor wasn't going to honour the original terms I needn't honour the price. I set a deadline for DJ to explain why its statements about the sale hadn't matched reality or I'd be gone.
The branch manager seemed to take little interest in the unfolding disaster. She forwarded my email to the vendor, whose response appeared to confirm the situation. The identity of the culprit - vendor or agent - was unclear.
I was beyond appalled. I'd foolishly dared to hope things would go right this time, and instead of a lovely new home it appeared my trust had been badly betrayed. All the time, money and emotion I'd put into the process was wasted.

45 hours after DJ announced the chain, the original agent called.
She had an embarrassing admission to make. There had never been a chain. The vendor was buying a new house but my transaction didn't depend on it. An employee new to the branch had misinterpreted what she was told and dreamed it up out of thin air.
The error could've been quickly corrected had DJ's staff taken my concerns - and deadline - more seriously. Although DJ knew how delicate the transaction was, it assumed I'd just sit quietly for days when it appeared I was getting screwed. Uh no.
Taking the explanation at face value, it meant I'd been put through two days of hell - hurried consultations with my solicitor, immense stress, no sleep, couldn't eat, missed work - for no good reason. A gruelling, traumatic experience - disappointed a second time over a house I'd loved. I fear the poor vendor fared little better.
A review I'd posted on Trustpilot had attracted the attention of the management. I was asked if I'd delete it. I don't know if that's commonplace but it makes me take DJ's rating with a pinch of salt!

DJ tried asked me to return to the sale. Words are cheap, so to show it was genuinely sorry for what it'd put me through I asked that it forego half its fee.
DJ's director pressured me to restart my purchase in return for something much less. It felt derisory - like DJ assumed I was so desperate to buy the house I'd have no choice but to forgive it. He claimed not to understand why I wouldn't budge (A: principles). I even suggested the money be given to charity, but no dice.
So that was that. A nightmare experience ending in no sale.
