Despite reasons explained the delivery time taken for uniform to arrive is renowned by parents as being far too long. It’s a pity Daws is the only current supplier however a good job for them as they would probably go out of school uniform business.
Then to be told collect within 2weeks or product will go back into stock!!!! What a cheek!!! Especially as many people are on vacation in the summer months and all items are paid for up front.
They sure know they have the monopoly to be able to be so dictating to loyal customers( even tho customers have little choice at present) this may change in the future so they should be more mindful.
However on the plus side the quality when it does eventually arrive is great so no complaints there👍🏼😄

Our performance on previous years has suffered, and in 2019 we were really happy that the changes we'd made had resulted in quicker fulfilment times all round.
Unfortunately the events in 2020 meant we were caught off guard, and the further changes we then made to cope in 2021 still left us battling severe manufacturer delays, as almost all school uniform is made overseas in countries still suffering the effects of Covid on a much greater scale than us. We tried to lessen the effects of this by asking everyone to order from May onwards while most stock items were still readily available.
Added to the effects of Brexit and the global shipping container shortage that you may have read about on our website, and July found us very quickly experiencing the stock delays we were warned of, and which we warned the schools of at the start of the year.
Last year we quite simply ran out of space, due to most customers opting for the collect in store option, and then leaving their completed order with us for anywhere up to 3 months before collecting it. We are a small independent store supplying 4 large secondary schools, and space in the shop is finite. We began to put the 'return to stock & refund' measure in place this year to try and combat this problem and encourage customers to collect (or have someone collect for them) as quickly as possible.
So far we haven't had to return or refund a single un-collected order yet, and dictation is by no means our intention.
The 'monopoly' you mention is by no means intentional either. For the most part, the reason there are no other independent schoolwear suppliers locally, is that the profit margin on schoolwear is so low, most simply haven't survived over the years, especially due to supermarket & online competition.
We have managed to do so because we have other departments to supplement the business income, such as our wholesale workwear, menswear and wedding hire, but if it wasn't for these other areas of our company, we wouldn't be offering schoolwear either.
I do hope this reply covers at least some of the points you have raised. It's great to hear you're happy with the quality, especially since it's been three years since we raised any of our school uniform prices. Thanks again for your valuable feedback!

We've avoided any kind of price increase on school uniform for several years now, and whilst an increase is due, we always take care to do it in line with any manufacturer increase.
We are considering offering full transparency on our pricing in the future, listing on our website some examples of the prices we pay, along with the costs of embroidery/handling etc, so that our customers can see just how little margin there is on school-wear. Watch this space!

Maybe an idea though to say that they're closed on Mondays! I'd made a special trip to go in and collect, only to find the shop closed Not criticism - I should have checked first.

Due to the fact we are experiencing delays in some areas of school uniform, we felt it was better to alert customers each time an item is picked and added to their order. The 2 week rule regarding in-store collections would only ever apply to a completed order where everything had been fulfilled. I hope this helps.

On arrival for second visit as shop closed first time, shop assistant was wearing face mask wrong way round, I informed them of this as I work in the hospital, their reply was a bit argumentative saying didn’t think it mattered, just felt service was bit rude

Easy to order
I ordered online and found the site easy to use. I was notified by email and went to the shop where it took a few seconds only to find my order. Staff were being very careful after having a case of Covid amongst them. They were polite and very helpful.
