Thanks for the review Jackie. I can see that order confirmation email and shipping notification email were sent on the 20th of August and 2nd of September respectively. At this late stage of the schoolwear season, this shipping time is not uncommon and there may not have been a need for us to contact you if we knew stock was available. It's unfortunate this has prompted a 1 star review.

I haven’t received my order. It was placed June 19th and I have had no notification that it has arrived in store for pick up yet. It is now September 15th (3 months on)

Thanks for the review Rauchele. The knock-on effects of the Covid pandemic on overseas production of school uniform were indeed to blame for the extended delays, alongside the effects of the global shipping container shortage. Very real issues that are outside of our control, and which we communicated out via schools back at the start of May.

Lack of communication
Lack of communication, had to wait over 2 months for my order, I'd spent £150 I emailed them a few times and spoke on the phone, I even had to chase my order 4 days before school started, saying it was ready but had no email to say it was.

We are genuinely sorry to hear you had a negative experience while shopping with us Diana. We did indeed experience some immediate delays with parts of the Pilton Community College uniform, which I believe affected your order.
We put many changes in place this year to deal with the anticipated delays and the ongoing effects of the pandemic, and for the most part these did make a positive difference to our schoolwear season. We did still however face some challenges which affected a number of customers.

You have a monopoly on school uniform -please respect this and improve your service.
You have a monopoly on school uniform. We can’t get them from anywhere else. I had to order on line, was told it could take up to 6 weeks, I couldn’t contact you to find out what was happening, but if I didn’t collect within 2 weeks it would be returned.
I didn’t get an email saying it was ready. Only when I went in and said I ordered it 8 weeks ago could I speak to someone. They then said, if it’s not here, it’s not here and there was nothing they could do about it. I advised them that friends who had ordered later, had already received theirs. Again I was told this was not possible. However, when they manually checked through the orders they found mine.
You must be fully aware that august is always going to be a busy time. If you can’t manage on current staff consider getting holiday staff in to help.
Please improve you communication. You should be doing a much better job as you are the sole supplier.
I was not impressed from start to finish.

We are truly sorry to hear you had a negative experience while shopping with us.
As we have mentioned on other review responses, the 'monopoly' you refer to is not intentional, and is primarily because the profit on school uniform is so low that many other independent businesses haven't survived, especially when in competition with large national companies and supermarkets. We have managed to do so because we have other areas of business to rely on.
After the very obvious problems with communications during 2020, we've put a lot of effort into ensuring ALL email and voicemail we receive are responded to. Our aim this year has been to do so within 48 working hours. Within the last week only, this has slipped to around 3 to 4 days response time on email, and approximately 2 days on voicemail - these final days of the holidays are always a challenge though.
To try and help combat the issues we had last year with customers not receiving their 'ready to collect' emails, we spent a considerable amount of time and budget upgrading our email servers. We've already been able to see that the vast majority of customers are now receiving our communications, however there are still a few who seem to be not receiving them.
I can see that your email notifications were sent automatically on the 22nd of July and the 20th of August as items were fulfilled on your order.
Right up to (and including) 2019 we would always employ 2 to 3 seasonal staff to help with the influx of schoolwear orders. Unfortunately this wasn't possible during 2020 / 2021 due to the severe drop in business in our menswear, workwear and formal suit hire departments, which together help subsidise the schoolwear department - this was alongside the social-distancing issues we had to adhere to. All of this resulted in us carrying out this schoolwear season on a basic level of staff.
We're very proud of how we managed this year, all things considered. We've fulfilled over 3,000 orders since the end of May in a timely manner, and at last count we had only around 280 new orders remaining to process, plus back orders that are outside our control.
Hopefully we can do better for you in the future - we sincerely hope to be able to return to the system we put in place in 2019 which worked so well pre-pandemic.

Still waiting for uniform to be delivered!
After placing my order I had no communication from Daws to say that 2 items were going to take a couple of weeks to arrive, so after weeks of nothing I called them to he told the items had to be ordered and that was the delay, but they had arrived that morning in store and would be sent out later that afternoon. I am still waiting for my order to arrive as the couriers have now had it for 10 days. This order was placed in June and we are now in September!

We'll be looking into what exactly caused the delay with your order being delivered. It looks like it was out for delivery on the 2nd of September, but then successfully delivered on the 5th. This is unusual for our new local courier, who have performed brilliantly under the massive load of parcels we've been sending out this summer.
We're always looking to improve all areas of what we do, and the in-house process for fulfilling orders requiring shipping can definitely be worked on. Whilst we have indeed suffered from some manufacturer delays, especially on PE kit, it doesn't justify why your order took as long as it did considering how early you ordered.
Please accept our sincerest of apologies for the level of service you have received.
