The item I bought is a health & safety risk but they are quibbling over a return and refund.
As they failed to include my 1-star review on their website I imagine there is some unfair business going on here!
I bought a birdbath, but after just 8 days of use the bowl fell from the stand, probably tipped over by a wood pigeon landing on it.
After several emails and refusals to refund and collect for a return, I spoke with the manufacturer, who clarified that there is nothing to keep the bowl secure on the base: the very wide and heavy bowl is meant to simply perch precariously on the stand! This is a real safety risk - I have small children visiting me soon and can only imagine the damage if one of them tipped the bowl over onto his head. I therefore can't use it.
Despite it being a health & safety risk, they will only give a refund if I return it to them, at my own expense - impossible! It needs mechanical parcelling back onto a pallet, then a delivery lorry to take it - Royal Mail certainly won't do this!
I'm quite disgusted with this company and their customer services. I will never use them again.
- The response to my review shows little common sense and ignores the safety issue. How could I know it was dangerous and not fit for purpose when still wrapped up in plastic on a pallet?

Good morning Mrs Hartley,
Thank you for your message. We are sorry to hear that you have been unhappy with the service provided by our company. With regard to your previous review, please be assured that it is visible; however, it appears on one of our other platforms as we operate across multiple websites.
Unfortunately, we are unable to take responsibility for accidental damage to your item. Any concerns regarding the stability of the bird bath should have been reported upon its arrival. The fact that the bird bath was placed in your garden for a week and the packaging discarded prior to the damage indicates that you were not concerned about the stability of the bird bath at that time.
It is standard practice for manufacturers to produce bird baths in separate parts with the weight of the components providing stability once assembled on an even surface. The weight of the bowl is designed to ensure that the bird bath remains stable when correctly positioned.
As a gesture of goodwill, we have offered you the following options: a replacement top section, a full refund upon the safe return of the base or a voucher for the full cost to use on our website.
As previously stated, we are not able to take responsibility for accidental damage that occurs after purchase.
Kind regards,
DGS Statues
